The Lounge / FFT Paper Craft?
August 08, 2009, 02:59:50 am
I've seen some pictures of completed FFT papercraft.  One was of a Summoner.

Can someone PLEASE find me them online?  PLEASE? :D

Quote from: "SentinalBlade"Yea, its a tough choice between pixely sprites, or cut out-ish sprites.

My sprites don't look pixelated at all. Follow my settings exactly, and see if it makes a difference.  You'll probably need a graphics card with 128 MB or more though.

I'm trying out games that were re-released for the PSOne, like Gradius Deluxe Pack (Gradius 1 and 2) and Salamander Deluxe pack (Salamander 1 and 2).  Pretty cool.  I get to make use of the enhanced natural shader for these!

Any other re-releases? They'd have to be ones that were nearly arcade perfect.  :wonder:

Quotepersonally ill be using "high settings with natural". It kinda looks like watercolor. but i dont like how it looks without the natural shader.

I really don't like how that looks. Change the Hi-Res textures to Stretch, or maybe turn off Texture Filtering for 2D sprites. You'll notice that it'll look better (see below).

Here are the settings that I use.  Turning the shader on or off is the only difference between these two sets of pictures.

Quote from: "Vanya"Don't forget that the PSX has simpler 2D games & mixed 2D/3D games...
BTW it looks freakin awesome on most games. Try it with Asteroid's and you'll think they re-released it for pc with upgraded graphics!

Could you define "simpler 2D graphics" ?  I thought Gradius Gaiden and Symphony of the Night would have counted.

Quote from: "Vanya"Holy crap, the bump map shader looks freakin' awesome!! I wonder how it would look on games with simpler or 2d graphics?

I have no idea.  It's a shader just for the epsxe emulator.  I know of nothing comparable for the snes, nes or anything like that.

I'll upload some pics of FFT and other games when I have the time.

The Lounge / Natural Shader on epsxe is really cool :O

Its' really neat.  It enhances the colours, and uses anti-alaising on everything.  You need a graphics card obviously.

Lots of people seem to want see an FFTA-ized version of FFT.  Changes to the equipment and jobs wouldn't seem that hard.  We couldn't add in any extra classes of course, so it'd be a work in progress until we can.

But that's something that we can all work on :3

Quote from: "Havermayer"SOTN is a direct sequel to Rondo of Blood (which was never released over here).  If anyone plays SOTN, I highly recommend checking out Rondo as well.  It's harder to emulate, but it's worth it.

Also, the English intro for SOTN is pretty awesome/funny:

SotN & Rondo were both released for PSP in Dracula X Chronicles.

You start with the 3D remake of Rondo, and the original and an enhanced SotN can be unlocked.

The 3D remake looks pretty lame.  I just don't like the art style, or new character designs.  Original was perfect as it was.

I don't want to do anything too crazy.  Just make it a bit harder.  Remove or rebalance unbalanced items.  Increase some drop rates for some things.  Not anything crazy like a new scenario.

I wonder if I could do that myself.  I'll check some guides out.  Any help would be appreciated.

The more complicated stuff would be adding in the new content from the Saturn version.  There's one new level, a new boss, a new song, and you can play as Maria when you're done.  That would be more complicated.

The Lounge / Hacking SOTN?

I love me some Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.  The problem is that the game is rather easy though.

I'd love to play a "Hard Mode" or even just something that balances things out.  Why hasn't it been made? :/

I really, really like FFT artwork that has the characters with realistic proportions.

Alright.  So Squires are mostly done I guess.  Working on Paladins now.  For new abilities, you have to take an unused blank spot and edit it as you wish right?  Holy Blade and Saint Cross are going to be that.  I fear that Paladins might be a bit too weak, and Squires might actually be better.

Also, I plan on making two versions of this patch.  One is for the vanilla version, and the other is for 1.3.  How would I go about changing 1.3, but also keeping all the text-edits and such?

Quote from: "LastingDawn"Not quite... there's a rather extensive guide on the first post of Razele's Thread which has the means to change Ramza's starting equipment, but as for Delita, yeah... 184 is the way to go.

Yeah, that makes sense.

I'll check that guide out.

Quote from: "Voldemort"Edit ENTD #184 Magic City Gariland

I did.  It doesn't include Ramza or his team-mates.  And I changed Delita, but it seemed to have no effect.  I must have done something wrong.

Dumb question:

How do I change Ramza and Delita's equips for the first battle in Gariland?  Despite being able to equip heavy armor, they still just have light armor.  They tend to get pwned rather easily, and they eat up all of your potions and phoenix downs.

I've also ran into a problem that I hadn't thought of.  If Squires can equip both heavy and light armor, then that means that when their equips are set to <random> on the ETND, then they're just as likely to have crappy light armor.  Which results in them having like half the health.

Parley could either be %dead or maybe treasure.  Probably just %dead.  It would seem cheap to give them something that they couldn't fix.

QuoteIt's not, while it's a few interesting ideas it bases itself too much off of current impossibilities. I say work with what you have, and if new developments do come about, use them at that time.

True.  I'm going to put all of the neat but impossible to implement ideas on the back burner, and just focus on the Squire and Soldier aspect.

Quote from: "Shade"Give no skill sets to square. then try to hack it so squares could select two skill sets. then let them equip what they want. And have ok stats.

QuoteMaybe you could make the Squire a jack of all trades type of deal, like the Freelancer of FF3?

That is a good suggestion, but sadly I have no idea how to do that.  I'm also not sure if they'd be less or more useful than Soldiers.

I've updated the first post with some of the Soldier abilities.  Basically they get Dash (instead of Mug for the time being), plus Provoke, and the Ruin abilities.  They can equip heavy and light armor.  A pretty good class in my opinion.   They'll either have 1.3 style Heal or First Aid (heal plus HP curing).  I've removed Accumulate since it might make them too good.  Delita and Ramza will be Soldiers + some of their special abilities (Cheer up, Yell, etc).  No swordskills, sorry.

This raises a further problem.  The Paladin class from FFTA seems to be based on FFT Knights and "Holy Knights" (like Agrias).  If I add in Paladins, then that makes some of Agrias' abilities redundant.  Pals won't have stuff like Holy Explosion or Lightning Stab, so she could just be an upgrade Paladin, much like Ramza and Delita are upgraded Soldiers.

Paladins are going to be a wee bit trickier.  I could give them a swordskill or two.  Parley for instance, could just be that swordskill that has a 25% chance of causing death.  With a bit of tweaking (less powerful, less range, etc).  A lot of their other abilities are going to have to be new, since I can't think of existing abilities to use.

I could give them innate Defend, instead of Defense.  Could I give them Wish instead of Nurse?  It would fit in with their selfless nature.  Not sure what to do about Sanctify (kills undead).  War Cry, Holy Blade and a few others are going to have to be new abilities it seems (and I"m a noob who doesn't know how to add those).

Also, there are two different versions of Paladins.  One for FFTA and one for FFTA2.

FFTA:

QuoteNurse -   Recover HP and cure status ailments of the unit and surrounding units.    Range: All sides and self    AP: 100
Defend -   Raise Weapon Defense and Magic Resistance for one turn.    Range: Self    AP: 200
Cover -   Covers a unit, allowing the user to take damage for the target until the user's next turn.    Range: 4    AP: 300
Subdue  -Severely reduced damage. Useful for aiding Hunters in capturing monsters or to get rid of Sleep, Charm, or Confuse.  AP: 200
Drop Weapon - Toss the targets equipped weapon into inventory.
Parley -   Attempt to remove a unit from the battlefield. More successful when the target has lower HP.    Range: 1    AP: 150    -
Saint Cross -   Holy damage to surrounding units  Range: All sides    AP: 400
Holy Blade - Double damage; holy element    Range: Weapon Range    AP: 400

FFTA2:

QuoteLose the following:
- Drop Weapon
- Subdue

Changes: Holy Blade does normal damage, not double.  Still Holy Element.

New Abilities: Sanctify -   Destroys Undead    Range: 3    AP: 250    -
War Cry    - Raises Resilience of surrounding units Range: All sides and self    AP: 300    -

So, which FFTA Paladin should I base them off of?  Possibly both, plus Knight?  Hmmm...
