I assume set the JP cost to 1 or 10 instead of 0. The way the game's AI "tracks" and "learns" an ability is completed automated, going in a top-down path and using whatever JP that is available on the class to learn the abilities. If it's 0, the AI will merely skip it.

A good example that I've found to be this case is when I added abilities to Ramza's Guts/Mettle skillset that precluded his Wish/Chant ability, at the first formal battle in Chapter 1 Gariland. Granted that whatever spot took Wish/Chant was auto-learned, but the peculairity is that Wish/Chant was placed in a lower slot in the skillset (at 0 JP cost) but was not learned even though it should have been. And also, from what I remembered reading during the development phase of FFT 1.3 and 1.3 Easytype, the way the skillset is arranged and the amount of JP the class has (which is dependent by its class level) will make the game's AI sort down and choose the abilities that will be auto-learned by the JP availability.

If you trying to change ramza skill set you need to put the ability you want in the spot *Wish* was.
He will learn any abilities set in the old *Wish* Skill (Unless you don't have eneuf JP but i think he learn it anyway.)
All the other will not be learned unless you use up JP for ramza sadly.

what class did you modify?
what skillset did you modify?

Is said custom class enemy-only?

It would definitely help if you listed the abilities within the skillset, as well as its R/S/M and JP costs.

Imho, Teta's skillset may just be hardcoded to insta-learn the first two slots only, which is Cure and Wish. I'm not entirely sure if the AI will regard the slots below the first two, but my best option is to use another skillset.

Let me see if I remember the glitches with all this. There was something about - oh, that's right!

*Ahem* Anyways. An easy way of getting this duke to master all of his abilities is to simply force the Magic skillset in the ENTD editor. That's what they do with Izule, so he masters everything - same with Zodiacs - instead of just putting <Job's>.

There's also some oddities with tying skillsets that don't match with the current job - such as putting Sing on Wizard, so simply try to avoid that unless you use the above method. If you really want to know, I'll tell you, but it's not entirey relavent.

yeah, I was a bit hazy on the glitch myself.

If you attach a non-custom skillset onto a class, it'll only play with the first two abilities.

If you attach a custom skillset (like 6B or some crap) onto a unit in the ENTD, it'll come auto-mastered, but if you try it on a playable character you can't access said abilities, but they'll stay good and equipped until you change classes (if primary).
