most of these skillsets sound pretty thought out, however i'm gonna reserve my judgment until the stat spread is laid out.

i'm a min maxer and so i value a job for its growths and how easily i can abuse the skill set of another class :)

Yes, it's the Ganondorf + 2 minions fight. The ONLY way to learn night sword is through Mana Shield learned from Animist because they will never use Night Sword unless they can kill you with it and they are low on health. Learning Dark Sword requires you to get them to exactly 4 or 8 mp depending on which skeleton because one always has half mp. It's an absolute bitch to pull this off because you can never render them permanently out of the battle.

I am legitimately happy about having to replay chapter 1. I just wish I knew
if there's gonna be an easier way to learn Night Sword and Dark Sword because jesus christ that took a shitload of save state abuse to accomplish. We aren't meant to learn it there, are we? LOL

sorry if this is posted already, but i can't seem to learn blue magic on animist without sharking monster's kin onto the character.

i learned choco cure, so it works, im just curious as to why animist doesn't have this innately ?

well, this is what i decided on if anybody was curious

ramza 80% hp, 100% mp (female)
cloud 90% hp 90% mp
link 70% hp 90%mp
snake 50%hp 0% mp (minimum mp, not 0)
dante 100% hp 0% mp


ramza hp: 517734 mp: 262143
cloud hp: 521010 mp: 244121
link hp : 514457 mp: 244121
snake hp: 507904 mp: 229376
dante hp: 524287 mp: 229376

What do you all think the point spread should be?

Like, say, Ramza should fall on the  80% of the max hp mark (517,734)  and 100% of the max mp possible (262,143)

you make em whatever you want, really. the game is not difficult if you know the trick to each battle. only the first bariaus hill battle and the final 2 battles of the chapter are teeth gritters if you take the time to plan a strategy, you know, 'cause this is a tactics game.

just dont:

1. make snake or dante mages. they have crap faith.
2. bother with chemist past the first hour of the game. potions are rendered obsolete pretty quickly. and make you go broke, to boot.
3. use any movement ability not named move jp up. the extra abilities this thing will buy you far overwhelms any benefit another movement ability has for you.
4. expect finishing touch to ever do anything useful. it's a "well, i'm fucked, might as well try"  move. if it works it's beautiful, but most of the time the low success rate makes it a waste of a turn.
5. level cloud as ex-soldier. 150 speed growth is just.. what is this i dont even. i suggest knight until you unlock geomancer. he will lose a bit of MA but only meteorain and finish touch care about MA and they're both pretty crappy.

do:

1. utilize ramza as a mage. he has the best faith and a female MA score. this makes him your best mage. he also has male HP, but Duke has a pretty low hp growth in exchange for the best combined PA/MA growth any of your characters can get.
2. recruit and utilize level 1 generics to gain jp without overleveling. this mod punishes the ever loving shit out of you in the last few story battles for being overleveled (do not level past 26. i made this mistake and it forced me to restart)
3. get assassinate for snake, mustang for dante, ice arrow and light arrow for link, and scream for ramza asap. these are your bread and butter abilities and will be your biggest asset for the bulk of the game.
4. level the other 4 as their unique classes as much as possible. snake gets the best speed growth in the game. dante has the best hp growth, link has the best ma growth for a male, and eventually ends up with almost the same MA as ramza, but suffers from the i dont know what they were thinking 150 speed growth curse.

well, it took me forever but i finally figured out a strat to beat chap 1 final boss

talk about sandbagging. that battle was stupid.

i hope it doesn't get any harder than this. can't wait for more though :p

are you making changes to chapter 1 that we need to play through it again when chap 2 comes out?

it took me a little while to remember this, but: i  remember having to turn everybody into berserkers and level them like that since the berserker job had the best growth in everything but mp.

that was actually kind of fun. i will say i don't actually like the loss of the always berserk status though i'm probably the only one lol

what's Lamia's Sap supposed to do?

it doesn't deal damage, only heals skeletons. everything else guards it.

fftpatcher says it's supposed to be 255% hit... but i dont know what's wrong with it.

i changed it to formula 53 so it does 25% of the target's current hp in damage because, well, that's my best guess as to what it was supposed to do
