you know as long as you lower ALL of the arms by 3 pixels, you can shorten the body by 3 and everything should line up fine, thats how im doing Teepo

Well, here is an update.  I basically copied the head of Frog from his original Chrono Trigger spritesheet, since it needed hardly any modifications on size or otherwise, but apparently I wound up bringing in colors that weren't in the original palette.  So, when I tried testing my walking animations in Shishi, colors wound up missing.  So I'm gonna fix this, but I still want an opinion on the progress.

BTW, I thought about making him shorter, too, I just don't know if I'll have the patience for it. ^_^

I love it! <3
He's hilariously over-sized right now, but I love it!. Geting rid of the extra colors should be easy. Usually what I do when importing new graphicsis I change the stuff that I'm going to import to use tha same palette as the thing I'm editing.

i dont think it'd be complete if you didn't shorten him, for the singing actions you could give him a puffed up throat

Very cool project, and looking really good. I just wish there was some way to make his face not blend so much with his cape.

The original Frog's palette is probably 16 colors. Maybe using that on the FFT Knight might work better. Afterwords the palette can can be faded out to make it fit with FFT better.

That sounds like the best course of action to me.  I'll get to work testing it out. ^_^ Thanks for the input.

EDIT: I have just done a breakdown of Frog's Chrono Trigger spritesheet, and his sprite has only 12 colors if you include the color used for the 'transparent' background.  All other colors are used for his tongue and sword animations.

I'm wondering if much of the original sheet can be ported intact? =)

Here is the new spritesheet I have made by modifying the Knight palette to match that of the colors in the original Chrono Trigger Frog sprite.

As you can see, his skin is now brighter like that of the original Frog, and his cape no longer blends with his head.  Plus, I gave him the inflating mouth animation for his singing.  ^_^

Saigas that was an awesome improvement. I'm very impressed, how are you distributing your colors to achieve this?

Given this is my first sprite I may be a bit confused on what you mean when you say 'distributing', but I'll give you the rundown on how I changed the palette.

Stumped beyond belief in my search for a 'simple' method to modify the palette, I was forced to manually input these colors while accurately guessing the conversions from 248 into 31.  Because of this, I thought, "Why not go an extra step and put the colors in the places they'd be most relevant?"  So I did.

- First, I took the cape shades (there were only 2 in Frog's palette, so I had to create 2 more for the Knight) and replaced them with the original cape shades.  This saved me the work of having to manually change the color of the cape.

- Next, I moved the shades of blue used in the Knight palette over the original colors used for the boots and gloves, and replaced the original slots for the blue with the two shades used in Frog's 'armor' (there were 2 blues in the Knight's original sprite and 3 boot/glove shades in total, so I used the other blue from Frog's sprite to replace the final boot/glove shade).

- Then, I took the two shades of green used for Frog's skin and replaced them with the two colors used mainly for the skin in the original Knight palette.

- Finally,  I swapped out the two dark greens used for the Knight's clothes with shades of really light gray, since Frog's sprite used a solid white for his armor and that would have looked incredibly flat.

All in all, I was very happy with the results of the palette change and, best of all, no more "Over 16 Colors" warning with shishi.  ^_^  I'm getting the hang of it!!!

Yep you answered my question. What program are you using to do your spriting?

The singing animation is great too. I will look forward to your progress.

Here is my Frog v 0.9.  Everything is finished except the portrait.  I'm actually in need of help figuring out how to make a new one and properly place it in the spritesheet.  Can anyone give me a hand with that?

I could give the portrait a try sometime this weekend.
As for importing it, I know that Katagi knows how to do it, so if you can find him, he'd be the one to ask.

If you have graphics gale getting the sprite sheet ready is pretty easy. Do you use graphics gale?

No problem! I like doing portraits.
I'm not exactly sure how I'll start yet, but I've got a few ideas.
