News:

Use of ePSXe before 2.0 is highly discouraged. Mednafen, RetroArch, and Duckstation are recommended for playing/testing, pSX is recommended for debugging.

Help! / Optimal ePSXe Settings? video, sound
October 13, 2011, 02:08:02 pm
I'm just getting into emulating Tactics, and have found this site an incredible resource.  I'm running the complete .5 patch for the new translation and loving it!

The emulation is not ideal however, and I'm hoping the experts here can tell me what I can do to fix it.

I'm using ePSXe 1.7.0, Pete's OpenGL 2.9, and the default Sound plugin.  My issues are:

Video: Sometimes the players flash blue, not much to complain about but there it is.

Sound: The note's often seem cut off compared to the OST, as if there is nothing where a decrescendo should be.  It's not terrible but it is very noticeable to someone who listens to the soundtrack regularly.  Also sometimes the sound gets all scratchy, not often but I notice it most if I'm at the shop or the bar for a while.

I know there are some optional checkboxes on the video settings that help with some games, should I be trying any of those?

Are there any better sound plugins I should try?

Thanks!
