FFT Arena / Re: Arena battle videos and discussion

I would like to request some more matches featuring Team Evil Sword please.

regarding oil's duration, it has none, it lasts until the unit is hit with a fire attack that doesn't also kill it. If the fire attack outright kills the unit, then oil is NOT canceled for some reason. Also, the elemental weakness from oil status STACKS with elemental weakness from equipment, so if you're wearing an ice shield /cursed ring and are afflicted with oil, you will take 4x damage from fire attacks.

Quill had almost reached the back door when the monk burst in and launched herself into the fray. Reinforcements? Whose? Does it matter? Shit! What do I do now? Lost in panicked thought, Quill didn't notice Casielle trying to get his attention until she appeared right in front of his face.

"Bwaaaa!" cried Quill

"S-s-sorry Mr. Quill, b-but you weren't p-paying attention to me. I was t-trying to say that I think you can hide out in the p-p-p-pantry, I just s-saw some other people go d-down there, this way!"

Meanwhile, as Quill followed Casielle down into the pantry, Beato cried out in pain as the summoner completed her spell of revival. Argyle whirled around just in time to see her sister vanish, temporally discorporated. Enraged, she let out an unearthly scream as she swooped down on the summoner, her life-draining claws outstretched...

I just noticed a huge problem with Hawk's Eye, currently, it has a CT of 6, but whenever a unit moves after beginning to charge it, the charge cancels, resulting in the waste of a turn. So we either need to make Hawk's Eye instant cast or flag it to follow target.

:EDIT: scrapped what I said about a skillset swap, as it was pointed out to me that the problem wasn't with the archer's skillset but the flags set for Hawk's Eye, apparently this problem happens with any charge skill that doesn't also have follow target flagged.

regarding hurricane, i'm pretty damn certain that elemental weakness falls into the second category of damage modifiers, in that it, like weather effects, boost or reduce the final damage calculation, and not the effective XA of the caster (like X Attack UP/DOWN and Protect/Shell do). This would seem to be confirmed by units in Arena that are weak against dark taking 100% HP damage from Demi 2 and Lich

Quill threw himself at the ground reflexively, only belatedly noticing the blade wasn't aimed at him. Meanwhile, Argyle was flying around the room, shrieking with delight at the sudden outbreak of violence while Beato continued her advances towards her recalcitrant paramour, all as Casielle darted about nervously, wringing her transparent hands together and imploring for everyone to stop in a shaking voice.

From his position on the floor, Quill could see and hear the fight beginning to break out, he would have liked nothing better then to jump on his chocobo and ride away, but the (bounty hunters? assassins?) stood between him and the door. Thinking quickly, he started crawling towards the kitchen.

The biggest problem with Demi 2 is that it is simply too costly in terms of both mp and jp expenditure compared to Lich

Lich deals 50% hp damage with an area of 2 for 45mp at CT 7 and costs 250jp

Demi 2 deals 50% hp damage with an area of 1 for 40 mp at CT 6 and costs 450 jp

by comparison

Demi deals 25% hp damage with an area of 1 for 20 mp at CT 2 and costs 200 jp

I believe FFMaster said he was working on capping good/bad compat at +/- 12.5% and Best/worst at +/- 25% or somesuch
30
I'm of the opinion that faith needs to be hacked so as to perform more like fury, going from say +/- 50% base damage/accuracy instead of the way it does currently,  going from 0% to 100% effectiveness.

I'm a little worried about my match with dommieV, from what i'm seeing, it will probably hinge upon two things

A) if I can break the paladin's shield so as to discourage him from grand crossing

B) if i can take his ninja down and keep him down (he's got an angel ring so I can't just blind and evasion tank him)
32
Ahahaha! Best Lich ever in the second round.

Vanquishers...I just finished converting my whole team into awesome Mystic Knights and Enchanters, and you come out with awesome Vanquishers and Gunslingers? At least tell me some of the prerequisites overlap, oh, that reminds me, it would be really nice if you posted a job's prerequisites along with the descriptions on the front page. Anyway, you keep up the awesome work, and i'll try and turn Ramza into a master Vanquisher in time for slaying Elmdor.

Quill froze in his seat, quietly he grasped the handle of the Main Gauche tucked into his belt, waiting for the moment he knew was coming when his hauted escort would..

"Oooooooh! And that's a right Scaaaaaary how-to-do we've got here don't we?" the Revneneant, Argyle, moaned. "It'd send a chill up my spine, if I still had one, yeeheeheehee!"

...do that, Quill silently facepalmed as the haunted sisters continued.

"Mmm-humm, but this archer here is a right handsome fella, I think I'm in looooove <3!" Beato, the second sister said, as she appeared next to the archer, and pinched his rear.

"I-I t-think that mu-mu-mister Quill is far more handsome t-then that bu-bu-bu-bu-brute." Cassiel, the third ghost sister said, blushing furiously. Quill at once mentally thanked her for the compliment even as he cursed her for drawing the attention of what seemed like the entire bar directly to him...

Quill sighed as he leaned back in his chair. Pushing his glasses up on his nose, he contemplated his situation. He had almost no money, and barely any items to sell after he was ambushed by monsters while attempting to cross finath river. To make things worse, even after all the hardships he endured traveling here all the way from Warjilius, he was told that the exorcist he was looking for had packed up shop and moved to Gariland!

He turned around in his seat, glaring at the ghostly trio that followed him everywhere he went nowadays. Currently, the three were engaged in (badly) reenacting a scene from an old play, what was it called again? I want to be your crow? Quill shook his head and sat down again, at least they weren't directly bothering him this time, though the bar's other patrons seemed more then a little off put by their presence, or at least by their horrible acting.

And thus has it begun. That was quite quick, FFMaster.

Oh, I've been meaning to ask/clarify: There's no loser's bracket for this tournament, is there?

I'm pretty sure that spell guns, like regular guns, always hit except against Blade Grasp and now (maybe in the case of spell guns) Projectile Guard. That's why I raised an eyebrow at your units having the Hawk's Eye ability. Oh well. I suppose I shouldn't talk since I'm not 100% certain that Meatbone Slash even works with spell guns. It should, but it's been forever since I've actually played the game and the BMG doesn't really confirm or deny one way or the other.

Glad to see someone is trying to make use of Greased Bolt. I was considering it, but I think I was going to wait until the monsters got released. Maybe I'll try to make one sooner than that now....

Also, I find it funny that we did the Ice Shield with Black Costume thing for exact opposite reasons.

another reason for equipping Hawk's Eye is that it uses a SP * WP damage formula, allowing me to freely damage low-faith units.

my Mediator and Archer have equipment breaks in order to bypass Fire Absorb equipment, also, they have Hawk's Eye because I wasn't sure if M-evasion applied to magic gun attacks. I am also glad to see that Black Costumes aren't quite as prevalent as they used to be, mine and The Damned's team are the only ones with more then 1 fire-absorbing unit (both of us also stuck Ice Shields on at least 1 of our Black Costume wearing units)
