Title: Beta files and Changes

Beta 1.2 involves five files:
ATTACK.OUT (in-battle names, in EVENT folder)
CYOKO.SPR (Boco sprite, in BATTLE folder)
GYUMU.spr (Red mage sprite, in BATTLE folder)
Sigma Patch.fftpatch (I used FFTPatcher-v0.200 to apply patch - patch ENTD files, BATTLE.BIN files, and SCUS_942.21 files)
TEST.EVT (battle text and such, in EVENT folder)
WORLD.BIN (forgot what this does, in WORLD folder)


Post here any bugs or problems the patch has. Please use the Suggestion topic for any suggestions you have to mold Sigma into a better game. If there are any discrepancies between what I say is in here and what IS in here, please notify me so that I can fix it. My old patch disappeared, so it is almost certain that what is displayed below is NOT in the patch.

Current glitches:

-On Zirekile Falls, if you deploy 4 units, Agrias looks like crap. If you can, only deploy 3 and you should be fine. Let me know if not.

-Boco is not mountable as a unique class. Therefore, I made him a Black Chocobo from Zirekile Falls and on.

Oh, yeah I forgot to mention I fixed all Bracelet -> Breath instances to make space for the new skill name.

If you only import BATTLE.BIN, you'll only have the new names displayed in battle only.

Hmm i don't know the exact correlation between spreadsheet and the patch its self but the weapon is the only thing that can add status effects for regular attacks right. I haven't really tried messing around with it but my thief Razma with mage masher is definitely adding invite on attack commands(It happed several times)

I dont know if it helps clear up anything, but i use a fresh image to patch and started a new game.

Lancers cannot equip shoes, Razma has jblvl 4 for both geomancer and lancer yet no bard availible. And by your post it should be unlocked.

Edit* i cheated to unlock bard and cheer song doesn't  have 100% acc.

Update* dancer still has the requirements of 4 Mediator 4 Summoner in your list, if this is not true you need to change your list

Okay, that definitely has to be fixed. Lancers need their shoes. Sorry about the typo, Bard still needs 4 Mediator and 4 Summoner and Dancer still needs 4 Geomancer and 4 Lancer.

Those problems should be fixed now. Redownload and tell me if Lancers can equip shoes the next time you play.

Yes my Lancer is no longer a hobbit, shoes for all.

Axes still suck. My estimated damage is 72, but most of the time i do 12. Can you change it to where the min damage is not so little. The added attacks help, but only very little 32 extra damage 25% of the time (slasher will probably change this complaint but i don't have it yet).

An additional note, choco ensuna has no jp cost.

Does that one also have the Mage Masher bug fixed?

On the topic of axes, extra WP would always do it, although that has its own problems.  Personally, I'd say the point of equilibrium would have axes outdamaging the best sword available at the same time they enter shops at least 33%, if not 50%, of the time.

Mage Masher adds Silence and/or Innocent now


All axes have Wind element and Strengthen wind. This means PA is increased by 25% when fighting with axes.

Battle Axe(9WP) comes with Mythril Sword(7WP).
9*5/4 = 11.25,  11WP/7WP = 1.57

Giant Axe comes out after Coral Sword (8WP) and before Sleep Sword (9WP)
12*5/4 = 15,  15WP/9WP = 1.67

Slasher(16WP) comes out with Diamond Sword(10WP)
16*5/4 = 20,  20WP/10WP = 2.00

It's not quite as dramatic usually, since bonus adds to PA and value truncates but I've got spells added to each axe, so they should be worth using. One who uses an axe should be aware that it can do damage equal to PA*5/4, which really sucks...

This tidbit really belongs more on the Suggestion section though.

Have you seen Gafgarion yet? Seen him use Night Sword? I accidentally changed it to heal instead of absorb.

I have re-uploaded the patch, but since I've been testing things to fit my new addition, the ENTD4.ENT, I had to go back to the original patch (first version of Beta 1.1) so if something that I corrected is awry, just restate it...

If you don't care about Night Sword though, don't worry about it.

i didnt see Gafgarion use dark sword. How ever i didnt attack him untill i stole what i needed and 1hko him with holy. Since it does normal weapon damage, you will probly only see it when he is hurt.

Odin does 0 damage, so on top of only having an acc of 40% for me it only does anything 25% of the time i does hit.

Veilius (Sp) is murder now, his instant cast summons tend to wipe my party out. With out cheer song he would wipe out my party be for i could move. I was able to win by using magic song + titan till it could one hit his demons (sing is fast enough this only took around 2 turns for my summoner), then i use solution to weaken his summons.

Bloody strings + Squire is awsome. this is my set up

with this set up counter flood punishes any attackers, and bloody strings plus charge typicaly heals him to full. It would be cool if distribute worked when one heals oneself because then i could heal my party by attacking.

In your list you list mimic titan as 3v1 under blue magic and 4v1 under monster skills. I havnt be able to try it out, but i assume this is a mistake

Charge + 20 is still useless because ill get another turn before it hits, but charge in general is alot more usefull.

I didn't say he was overpowered, but he is a lot tougher than he was before. I'm going to send you an email with a save state at the battle screen just before the Velius fight. I figured it would be the best way to see what my party was and try Velius for your self. It was made by ePSXe.

Update, Ok something weird is happening. I'm on rooftop and Squire Ramza started off with all beneficial status effects, and his guts has koutetsu (from draw out) but it affects the entire screen, does 850 damage and i dont have any katanas.

Its been a while since ramza has been a squire so i dont know if its the battle or what. I did some testing and Ramza still had the effects described when necked as a squire but not as a mime.

Also the fight is impossible because Elmdor wipes out everyone the first turn, because he has the super koutetsu as well, unless you take advantage of the glitch. I have your most recent patch and i haven't been able to try any other battles since i got it.

Judo outfit no longer cancels dead, an assassin used stop breath while i had one equipped. Also the thieves on the grog hill battle were equipped with sasuke knives, which would normally be impossible, but i don't know if that was intended or not. Even with the improved Skeletons and undead Knights the Angel of Death fight is still a push over.

*Update

he only used gravity 2, flare 2, and rarely loss. Gravity 2 seemed to only hit about 30% of the time, flare 2 did an average of 150 damage iirc. I think my levels were 40~.

Yeah, I apparently allowed some higher end equips for the enemies and forgot to add that to the list of changes.


Did the Angel of Death cast any good spells? His skills might need a boost if he was too easy.

How low was your Faith?

Gravi 2 has a considerably good chance to hit (K = 160, which is the same as Lich and Life Drain), so probably was Faith and Compat the reason of that.

Also, Zalera does not have Loss,  it has Confuse 2, which can be negated by low Fa.

And... How buffed were the Undead knights? Like the ones I buffed or just gave M Arts? I think the ones I buffed I over did it... >_>

I played phil patch and Zalera kicked my ass (I tried using ska's save just to see)... I had Beow, Agrias, Orlandu, Mustadio and Ramza... No one was overleveled or something (Orlandu only knew like 4 skills).

Vincent, did you make Zalera a joke?

Or... How overleveled were you Priny? I remember you saying that bard was owning early on and wanted to see how it would be later, that means that you had bard by chapter 1? So... you are REALLY overleveled, meaning that no matter how buff a monster is, it will still be owned by knowladge.

I don't think I'm over leveled, around level 40. If you read again, i said they didn't get to attack, not that they didn't get a turn. I never said i got bard in chapter 1, i got it in chapter 2. Which isn't hard if you are specifically trying to level to it, no power leveling involved.

I never got to play zalera in phils patch, but besides meat bone slash, and i think more hp, it was the same zalera I've murdered in the past.

No only the undead knights didnt get a chance to attack, because Zalera was dead before they were able to move in range, Zalera did get to attack. Zalera has no-charge but unlike velius and goat head (name forgoten) the lack of summon makes him not as much of a threat

Is this still downloadable? I get an error message when I click the link. I was kind of hoping to use this to get started on my own patch since it already has a lot of changes I liked. If it's too much trouble I can wait for the new patch, but I don't really know when it will be done since it sounded like it would take a long time with all the stuff that's being changed. Sorry if you already said it somewhere, I'm not trying to rush you or anything.

I'll see if I can't find that file so that you can play around with my current changes. Btw, when you do change some stuff, make sure to make a backup of your game. Using my unfinished patch could cause some problems with your game.

Thanks for uploading but I'm having trouble getting your patch to open. When I try to open it I get an error message followed by this:

If so, are you opening the Sigma Patch.fftpatch? You aren't trying to open the thing without extracting the files from it, right? Ya know, Winrar?

If you are confused, just tell me what you are opening (including the extension, or just tell me the type of file it is by checking its 'Properties'), and what you are opening it with.

Okay, i've imported all the files and played up to Igros and it looks like everything is working as it's supposed to. The only problem I noticed was with the red mage sprite, whenever he goes to charge a spell part of his face detaches and wobbles up and down. Also whenever the sprite is in a normal walking position one of his arms is detached at the shoulder. And in the beginning scene in the church whenever he kneels the sprite looks weird. You may already be aware of this but I wanted to make sure. I'll try to get some pictures of it.

There is a a patch with the Red Mage in it, when did that happen!? I don't know why the Red Mage is doing that, when I tested it there were a couple little artifact glitches that can be fixed by shifting the entire sprite sheet up one pixel. Though I wasn't able to test the spell casting animation. Hmm well obviously more testing is in order.

I figured I'd test out any new sprites that fit well with my patch. I assume the problem with the kneeling is due to a command that pulls up the unique Squire animation for kneeling during that event. Thanks for pointing that out.

I noticed that in chapter 1 you made Ramza like a regular squire with innate equip change and the ability to equip everything, but on the other 2 versions he doesn't have equip change and is only able to equip what he normally can. Was this intended?

Could you consider changing the intro battle at Orbonne back to normal? I've gone through it a couple of times now after messing with the patch and out of the 7-8 times i've gone through it I think i've lost 3 times. It was amusing the first time Wezaleff sent a charge+20 arrow flying my way, but now its just annoying. If you could manage to give control of the other units to the player it would be fine, but the AI just sucks too much... seriously :?

Have you used FFTPatcher to change the ENTDs? Check Battle 183. If you move your cursor over a box, after a second, a box will pop up telling you the default. Really I just wanted to jazz up the beginning, but I can understand why that's a problem.

Nope, I haven't messed with the ENTDs yet, i'll go ahead and change it. The main reason I would lose would be Agrias' sword being broken. After that it was just a pack of poorly coordinated knights vs. another knight with break skills, 3 archers and a chemist with a gun. You can almost see the outcome just by reading it. :|

Couple of problems with the Zirekile Falls battle. Agrias's sprite is messed up, I guess it's the same thing that affected the Thieves' Fort battle. After Gafgarion gets whooped and kneels down to give his lines his sprite disappears. Also is it possible for Rad's sprite to be changed on the formation screen yet? Not that the obese man doesn't have his charms, but couldn't you at least use a squire sprite or something? And on a final note, mounted units as enemies = awesome. You should definitely use it on some more fights if you can. :P

I cant believe i just got my behind handed to me by a knight, some archers and a chemist.  I lost the very first battle.  Am I that rusty?  Those guys were a little too good.  They had access to hi-potions, not just the chemist.  My crew had no one who could use a potion.  Before I continue my crying I'll try again....but Rad looks great!!!!

I shook of my rust and was able to win the first battle.  It wasn't a cakewalk at all.  Rad is just a target.  Those archers were killing me.  I look forward to getting some archers of my own to play with.  I believe the Stasis Sword saved the day with some timely "Stop"s.  

I've played the second and third battles also.  The game is indeed challenging.  I like going into battles with the possibilities of both winning and losing.  I must commend everyone who put in effort into this project.  I have to admit, looking back from the forums on gamefaqs, I never thought we would get this far......Bravo

yay I am finally getting Custom firmware on my psp soon! do you know if i would just put the final fantasy tactics file on my psp it will play?? because there are 2 files after I insert all the sigma files one is a bin file I believe and the other is a .CUE I plan on going to 3.90m33 to play isos directly on my memory stick but.. Basically to play FFT off of your PSP all you need to do is create/download and ISO of the game and then copy it to the appropriate folder. The PSX version takes a little more work though.

PSP Version

If you have the UMD download USB Special Storage System linked below:

With this program you can rip any ISO straight from the UMD. All instructions should be in the readme file.

After that just take put the file into a folder and name it whatever you want (FFT, FFTactics, etc.) then create a folder in the root of your PSP called ISO's and put the folder you just named into that ISO folder.

By the way after you have the ISO ripped you can apply any changes with the FFT Patcher.


PSX Version

The PSX version is a bit more tricky. You first need to download the game or rip the game from your own copy of it using a program that creates ISO's. ISO producer works well link to it is below.

Once you have the ISO made you need another program to convert it into a format read by the PSP. For that you need to use Popstation Gui. The link is below.

This program converts and compresses the ISO you made into an EBOOT file readable by the PSP. By the way with this file you can also customize EBOOT so that when you finally put the game on your PSP the pictures you see while selection it are whatever you customized them to be.

Anyway once you create your EBOOT, put the EBOOT in a new folder named whatever you want (i.e. FFT, FF Tactics, etc.). After that put your newly created folder in the GAME folder on your PSP.

So it would be your Root folder (i.e. Removable disk E: or F: ... or whichever one it is ---> PSP folder ---> GAME folder. Once you copy the folder with EBOOT there you can start playing the game.

Last note though, I'm not sure if you can use FFT Patcher to customize the PSX version after you change it into an EBOOT. I used to always customize the regular ISO first then change it. Once the new versions of FFT Patcher came out I didn't bother with the PSX version anymore and went straight the PSP version so if you find out the answer this please post it here.

Any directions you need for the programs should be in the readme files that come with each respective program.

Whelp, been what, 2 months+ since someone posted in here? Looks like this either needs to be closed or I need to do something new with this thing.

I don't know what's left to do, but I assure you I can come up with something.  Just for the sake of my own sanity, this patch is not going to use any new classes or skills w/o replacing old ones.

What about the VK Patch, you ask?  Well, I just finished a sprite of mine and it is too big to be imported.  One may imagine how royally pissed off I was at this.

Monsters have 1.4x HPM, 1.2x PAM (except Behemoth and Hydra class) and 2x MAC (to compensate for 2x power on skills)
Chocobo has great movement ability; Black can still fly
 

Status effects: Slow duration increased to be in-line with Haste and Poison lasts indefinitely.

And last but not least: Orlandu once again nerfed to the fullest extent of the law.

Looks like someone doesn't read the BMG religiously.  :wink:

But yeah, do check that topic again for why.  Really...

Though more stuff gets done if we just concentrate on perfecting one good patch, like FFTv1.3.  So don't expect much to come out of here anytime soon.

Actually, don't expect anything to come from here ever. I'm done with this. I've milked all the fun out of this game and now I'm experiencing negative marginal returns. :/

So yeah, feel free to use this, hide the section, whatever.  I won't miss it.
