Title: 2 swords
Post by: Dome on May 08, 2009, 12:30:52 pm
It's possible to change the "2 sword" support ability in order to let you equip 2 weapons of the same kind, and only of the same kind? (2 swords, 2 crossbows, 2 guns, 2 flails, etc...)

I disagree, a lot of the random fun in FFT was imagining things, such as a Flail and a Sword, that combination is just Awesome in my mind, and as so in game. I liked Two Swords, though it was very abusable it made for a few very interesting combinations.

double any ranged weapon means being able to kill one person and then damage or kill another with the same command thanks to attack range and line of sight.

so no.

Haha! You don't like the thought of attacking with a Bow and then having a Sword damage also apply? I must have misunderstood the question... I thought what he wanted was to make it so you can only use two of the same weapon, rather then how it is now of using two of any weapon with Two Swords enabled on them.

Oh, I like the thought.  It'd make for a variety of neat combos!

But it turns the attack command into a multi-target ability when you do mix and match or rock double ranged.

Heh... An 8 Range Sword strike, after shooting with a Bow just doesn't seem... logical.

Old school NES Link with full hearts would disagree!

That's true, that's... true. But does it only happen if he has the bow equipped in his right hand and his sword in his le... wait... don't answer that.

I rather like the current implementation, concept wise. Implementing crossbows/spears/everything else onehanded would be awesome, but doesn't seem likely without some modification of the targeting system.

And hitting twice is part of the reason you'd want two swords in the first place. If hitting twice at range is a problem, but not at melee, then ranged is probably overpowered.

EDIT: That's not to say two swords isn't overpowered. It is. but any rebalancing you apply to melee attacks would affect ranged as well, and if after that two ranged attacks is considered overpowered and two melee attacks not, then it's a problem with ranged attacks, not two swords.
