PSX FFT Hacking / Re: ASM Requests
March 03, 2021, 09:35:17 pm
asm request for changing gun dmg formula to Speed times Weapon power, and unarmed formula to be physical attack times 3. I tried to get this to work through ravens workbook/xml generator and fftorgASM, but I haven't had any luck. I used "STAT1*STAT2" for guns, whereby stat1 was "38" and stat2 was "WP" and vice versa, but neither worked, and it still just does WP^2. As for fists, I used "STAT1*CONST" with STAT1 being 36, and CONST being 03. This again just made the characters do PA^2 instead. I got the other formulas to work including the "STAT1*STAT2/CONST*STAT3", which I used for staves and rods to make them do (MA*Faith)/100*WP. This one worked flawlessly.

I am using PSX version ISO, FFTorgASM, and FFTpatcher.

I think I'm asking on the right place. Playing PSX ISO
I am trying to make custom weapons. I made a gun using graphic 2d, pallette 5 I think. It looks right in the inventory, and it functions exactly as I made it to, however, the in-battle graphic when the character actually uses it has the appearance of the longbow when fired. Not sure how to make it actually look like a gun-- any thoughts?

How can I change the Gun Damage Formula to SPxWP instead of WP^2? I can't get it to work with xml changes. I've tried the STAT1*STAT2 option on ravens workbooks to no avail.

Help! / Changing weapon damage formulas
February 26, 2021, 07:34:56 am
I tried modifying weapon damage formulas using xml generator/fftorgasm. Mostly I changed the dagger to have pa*wp, and tried to make guns SP*WP. I entered in the appropriate name, location, and offset into xml, then copy/pasted the hex lines. Ever since loading that patch though, anytime someone tries to take an action in combat, the game freezes. I've also made a pre-raw stats edit in the same way, and that one worked just fine. The only things I can think of are that for the guns, i entered 38*WP as the new formula instead of SP*WP since it said the value for the SP stat was 38. Not sure if this is the problem, or if it's that i copy pasted the entire line of hex from the first to the last one before the xml excel document showed a different location, whereas with the raw stats edit, I only copied the hex associated with the lines stats that i changed. I THAT is the problem, then my question would be, How do I know which hex lines correspond to which edits?? There is 0 indication as to what goes with what. With the stats edit, I literally just counted it out by using context because, again, there was no way to identify which hex lines correspond to which edits. I'm 100% new to making these kinds of changes. I've only ever modded games with easy tools. Would love some help

The Lounge / Controller mapping frustration
February 12, 2021, 11:28:25 pm
I don't know where else to turn at this point. I'm trying to map keys to my controller(s). I have had zero success with either joytokey or antimicro. I've tried wired and wireless ps3 and ps4 controllers. In both programs, and in all cases, the programs SHOW that there is a connected controller and that it is recognized. However, no button presses are registered by either program whatsoever. I also tried assigning keys to buttons and testing the controller and it did not work. The controllers do work for any game with native support as I used them with steam. I literally have no idea why these key-mapping programs will not work for anything. Ran as administrator, etc. to no avail. I despise keyboard play, and would rather die than play this game with a keyboard. Anyone have suggestions?
