Can I get rid of random battles entirely?

I always thought that if you needed extra JP or gil you'd do propositions.  I avoid random battles at all costs and I was wondering whether anyone has found out how to remove random battles or has a good idea on how to remove them.

The alternative would be just to make every battle have a level 1 unit that starts the battle dead, but that still gives 100 gil!  =o
I changed jobs and that has made all the difference.

Someone suggested this a while ago, but what if you just go through and delete every unit that appears or could appear in a random battle?

I think the ideal scenario would be that you stand on a marker and open up a menu (like the one you get in cities) and there you can select a battle. This would be good in cities too. I'd love to have more battles on the Goland Coal City map or Dorter.

Maybe instead of choosing a battle, which wouldn't make sense, the random battles do open a yas/no option, but upon choosing "No" you lose some gil or your characters' bravery fall some ammount in the next battle. You know, so the game isn't too easy.

I'll see what happens when every unit is removed from a random battle.

And random battles = more experience/Jp, which means easier story battles.  When was the last time you sent some of your units on a proposition?  With random battles there really is no need to do so.
I changed jobs and that has made all the difference.

Actually I only send units on propositions. Random battles take too long for me.

Has anyone looked into which file keeps track of the map nodes (aka travel dots)?  It seems like such a file would have to exist.  If so, it would likely record how each node connects, and what type each node is.  If we could find this, we could just change all the "green dots" to have the same properties as Fort Ziekden.  This would probably result in all the dots becoming blue, but should also have the effect of removing random encounters.

A resource I read said that it was imbedded in the world map file itself.
