Isnt theft illegal? Or does it not apply on the interwebs?

It's not theft without a copyright.

That's assuming the sprites being referred to by zozma are original, too. If not, the real theft was the intellectual property of squeenix or whoever owned what the sprite was based off of.

by theft im referring to the fact that when we translated their page, for example showing my custom Barret sprite, there was a comment that translated as " I used the bla bla bla sprite as a base" using I suggesting that they claim to have made it. no copywrite or anything, i just think they are assholes for taking credit.

the barret one is an example but im pretty sure theyve swiped other stuff

I bet they took my Algus Sprite, and are probably going to take my "Self" sprite when I get done with it...

i haven't seen any of the more recent stuff swiped i think its because the patch that person is making uses advent chiltren ff7 characters... so the next one that would probably get ripped would be miroshi's tifa or smash's aeris

Sounds like we need to snap our sprite distribution shut. Maybe make it password protected or somethin'. I hate to sound like I'm really pissed, but it just stupid. Maybe we should get copyright on our sprites or something =P Its wrong what they are doing, even if it isn't legally wrong, its morally wrong for ANYONE.

i know... its annoying as hell, but it comes with the territory i guess...

its enough for me that everyone here knows who really made their stuff

God, I would hate it if one of them stole a full patch and claimed it as theirs. That would just be too much.

Sprites aren't SUCH a big deal I guess... but a whole patch would be crossing the line.

Why can't they just give a damn link to our list of custom sprites or something? What the hell is their frame of mind?

that they are not always as createive? the only annoying thing is that they show no interest in working together. i know they can speak english too.

Freakin stuck up Japanese. I would be happy to work with them if they didn't steal things from us.

its a shame, but i bet we are further along then they are by now anyway.

I have tried searching the forum for it, and found nothing.

It's been itching my curiosity ever since I came here, all that talk about the japanese site and their theft.

you're talking about that crappy AC tifa arent you? that person did such a bad job.

Yeap. I looked at all the sprites and the best is the Cloud, well, that's my opinion of course.
The current Tifa sprite that Vanya is making (I think) looks alot better than that AC Tifa. Lol ^^
That AC Tifa looks exactly the same as the original assassin, Lede; just the recoloring, thats all.
The rest aren't so good but i like the Auron's portrait actually.
It looks kinda cool, don't you think? ^^

I don't remember who's working on the new Tifa, but it ain't me. =P

I have found a site that translate word documents. It can be found here: http://www.worldlingo.com/en/products_s ... lator.html this means you can translte all the files the japanese release in those UP Files....btw I am the one working on tifa lol

I saw your post and immediatly picked it up again.

Now i remember why i put it on hold. I have never been so pissed at a recolor in my entire life.

Kaze managed to use every color in cloud's hair, as his skin tone. He also managed to use every color at least in two totally different spaces, expcept for one color, which is used in the eye.

The problem here being there isnt enough colors to go around; I have one spare"eye" color to use, but i have to go over each skin tone and make it the same color, leaving no depth, because the hair uses 3 or 4 colors.

Since they are linked, if i make his hair blue, his skin is blue. i trace over the blue skin with peach, but its to flat because i have no more colors to add depth, because they are all used. The eye color is now the only skin tone.

It might not be so bad, but a one dimensional bicep doesnt look flattering, and ruins the entire image. I Could get rid of a color off of his black clothes, and cut a hair color off, but id have to redo the entire hair and black clothes on every frame so it looks correct and less flat....i really dont have that kind of time. *shoves this sprite on zozma's plate*

Kaze, Zozma, Cheetah. Please heed these words.

If you want people to actually edit your sprites colors to their tastes, dont link every color to the hair and skin. Alot of zozma's sprites do this, and it was a pain getting them all ready for SoR, And this AC Cloud may very well be the reason i quite spriting.
