New Project Ideas / Re: My Patch (Unamed)
April 21, 2010, 03:38:07 pm
How were u able to make crystals not teach skills?  i was hoping it was possible but now i know it is.  i still like the idea of units turning into crystals, but i don't want it so u can learn from them.

what the?  how did you get the text for your changes to be in FFTPatcher?
is that done in FFTPatcher, or did u use FFTactext and import the patched iso?

edit:
i've tried editing some text in FFTactext and imported the patched iso... i didn't see any of my changes, so i doubt that's it.  I'd really like to know.  it would make editing a lot easier.

jeez, and i JUST finished going through all the effects.  Nice work, i was hoping someone would do something like this, but i never found it till now :P.  there are some really cool effects that can be used to make all sorts of skills.  i haven't read all this thread, but just thought i'd mention... some skills only effect a single unit even if u have an area of effect greater than one.

on a side note... i know some skills (for instance the heaven/hell skills) change the camera angle from high to low.  is there a way to prevent it from changing?  i like to keep the angle higher and hate having to keep switching it back after a skill.

i knew Oil was a fix and float/wind was new.  hmm, maybe i should try a different formula  :P

hmm, i've tried using the oil status effect, but i don't think it's making the unit weak vs fire.  was the issue with float/wind the same as oil/fire?  as in did they both not work?

mmm, me likey the Runic idea.   my favourite Final Fantasy (and 1 of my fav characters).  I think i'd like it if u could utilize it much like the Defend command.

@SilvasRuin
I do realize a lot of work has already been done, this topic alone is only coming up on 2 months and it has 40 pages now!  the reason i say it may be the logical way is if this much work has been done withing this short amount of time alone, think of how much more it would be for a few knowledgeable people to keep doing things the way it's been, by request.

...BUT...

since formerdeathcorps mentioned, a lot of the hacks can be edited, i see that it's not worth doing what i'm suggesting.  i'm still getting my head around all this stuff and seeing what's what.  now i'm gonna look into editing the hacks that have already been made.  wanna make a few tweaks

yeah, i figured it was asking a lot.  i'm not sure of what kind of skill and talent everyone here has.  it's just... if there were a way to make r/s/m abilities easier to edit for less skilled people or just more user friendly, then we wouldn't have to keep relying on Razele's skillz.  it just seems like it's more worth coding an editor than individually doing custom codes for every person who wants to do something a little bit different.  i'm not being demanding, i'm in no position to ask or tell anyone to do all this work, it just seems more logical to me.   :D

so, i'm still freakishly newb to all this, so i may be making a very ignorant request... but...
everyone here all wants to tweak like crazy and it seems pretty unfair to make Razele do all these individual changes for all of us.  so, is it possible to add more options for reaction/support/movement abilities into FFTPatcher?  like adding statuses (haste, wall, etc) or changing values (move/jump +x)?  I think even the basic stuff would help out a lot of people, and leave all the more complex requests for this thread?

Old Project Ideas / Re: Patch Proposals/Ideas Thread
February 18, 2010, 02:24:25 pm
so, i've skimmed through a lot of these pages, but not all.  Is something like a FF7 Battle Square, or FF6 Colloseum possible?  i was thinking something like a spot on the map like the Deep Dark Dungeon, but the party size is limited to 1 (or maybe groups, too) and go through a number of battles to either gain duplicates of rare items/weapon/armor...

i was thinking... Counter Magic reacts pretty close to Reflect in the way i'm used to.  Only issue with it, is it allows the hit, then hits the caster instead of preventing it.  if that could be changed to either 'miss' or skip hitting the target, this skill could work like Auto-Reflect.  would that take much asm hacking?

i was wondering... would it be possible to make reflect affect the original caster after it's reflected.  i haven't used it much, but i remember it's more like a 'deflect'.  like if ur 2 panels away in the x and 1 in the y, it should go back 2x and 1y, not forward 2x, 1y from the target.  i can see both cases useful, like u could set up your own team and get ur spell to reach farther, but it should reflect it back at it's caster.

btw, my first post here... so, hi!  :P
