Mimes are going to gain the ability to equip items and RSM come next update. It's not a thing now, but it will be in 139 guaranteed. It's just it's potential effects with Lore are less than thrilling (unless you're on the Mimic Loring side of course).

I could have sworn in a different hack I played Mimes were able to equip but I'm not sure I've ever experienced any RSM Mimes before.  Sounds like fun!  I'll definetely have to test my Lore team with at least 1 Mime.  It'll probably be built like MA Save, Magic Attack Up, Move-MP Up.  But we'll have to see how the stats for the Mimes change though as The Damned stated.  Hopefully they turn out something like this:

Male
HP: 154
MP: 57
SP: 8
PA:10
MA: 8
Move: 4
Jump: 3
C-EV: 10

Female
HP: 144
MP: 61
SP: 8
PA: 8
MA: 10
Move: 4
Jump: 3
C-EV: 10

That being said, combining Platina/Carabini Armor isn't the worst idea ever, I just don't see a reason to do so right now, I mean, we are already having trouble coming up with Armor ideas, we don't need more empty armors to fill.

Most of the armors are extremely boring...  There's got to be something we could do to make one at least a little exciting.  I still like the combined Diamond Armor so how about changing up the Carabini Armor.  How does something like this sound?

HP 100, Initial: Petrify, Wall, Half: Fire, Earth

With the correct setup, a unit equipped with this would be capable of wrecking havoc the first couple turns (especially on small maps, not so much on large).  But when Wall passes they'd still have a somewhat decent buff in targeted magic resistance.  The HP gain is just an estimate, I'm not quite sure exactly how much an armor like this should receive.

Same reason a Perfume makes you tougher or come back from the dead once while preventing you from falling asleep or turning into a frog or drives you completely insane or how a harp can not only damage you but can heal the user for the same amount of damage.

Head, I'm a floating head.  And I float float float, and I float float float.

I'd also like to point out that I couldn't find anywhere in the master guide that explains exactly how Chronos Trigger/Dragon Spirit activate.  While testing out which reaction abilities apply to Lore skills, those two would refuse to activate but would seem to trigger when hit by physical attacks so I'm guessing that's how they work.

As someone who highly enjoys Lore I hope it remains the same, but that's just my bias talking.

An adjustment to Lore (dual-elemental, taking Clothes away from Mimes) might even make things close to level.

Mimes with clothes and shields?  The memcard generator and the Master Guide both state that Mimes don't have the ability to equip any items or abilities, so am I missing something or are you just talking about the supporting characters other than the Mimes?  If I'm missing something I need start using me some Mimes... if your just worrying about the supporting characters I don't see the merit for nerfing Clothes in general.

If Coral Sword receives this change and Aspergillum receives the boot or changes, I believe this would make water the only element to not have some sort of weapon or equipment that solely boosts itself.

Fire: Asura Knife, Koga Knife (1.39 change), Rod
Ice: Rod
Lightning: Mace of Zues, Rod
Wind: Spiked Futon
Earth: Iga Knife (1.39 change), Earth Clothes
Light: Excalibur
Dark: Kotetsu Knife, Sadist's Whip

Sure you could always just equip a Giant Axe,Prismatic Rod, or something but it just doesn't seem right.

What if we did something along the lines of this?

Diamond Armor: 120 HP, +1 PA, +1 MA
Platina Armor: 115 HP, Immune: Berserk, Darkness, Poison, Don't Move
Carabini Mail: Removed from the game
Aqua Vest: HP 90, MP 20, Absorb: Water, Strengthen: Water

It basically just combines Platina and Carabini into Diamond (which creates some nice synergy with Diamond Armlet) and gives the immunities to Platina which matches it's Helms theme.  By getting rid of Carabini Mail it would make room for the Aqua Vest.

By the way... I just realized Diamond Armlet and Helm contradict each other.  Why do we have float on Diamond Helm again... and how does a helmet make somebody float in the first place???

Yeah, good games.  I needed one more revival unit, only having two seriously hurt me.  Also the Geomancer...

Those Bahumuts.

I also made a much more efficient team after submitting a lackluster one.  It solely focuses on two Scholars with Malestrom in combination with Coral Sword/Rubber Costume/Diamond Armlet/Distribute and two other units with Earth Dragon and Strengthen Earth/Absorb Earth/Half Water/MA Save.  The sheer power they can accumulate without taking "damage" because of distribute while whittling down the opponent was pretty amazing.  It got owned on small maps though, but most magic based teams do.

My team has been sent.  This way there won't be a bye as well.

I'll probably just get stomped since my teams so gimmicky but I hope it'll at least try to do what it's supposed to.

If you guys don't mind one more body to get to 32, I could join in.  Haven't messed around with this for a while and realized you guys were doing one last tourney before 1.39.

I have a team ready, I'm interested in how it'll work.

EDIT:  Oh, didn't notice it was midnight EST.  I go by PST time and it was still before midnight when I made the post.  If it's too late that's alright, I'll find another time to join in.

Help! / Staffs behaving like FF9 rackets
February 28, 2011, 09:35:42 pm
So I've been contemplating exactly how to go about doing this, making staffs hit from a distance and I've started coming up with a couple concepts.  I was thinking the easiest way would be changing the staff item type into gun and changing the formula so that it would cast a simple spell upon hitting.  But the sad thing is the only formula I could find that can cast an ability on hit is 02 and it only has a 25% chance of doing so.  I want it to behave like 04 but I can't specify the spell with that formula so that won't work.  So I thought maybe the bar under the Evade% section would help since it does say inflict status/cast spell but I can't seem to get spells to actually come up since the shortcut sends me straight to the inflict status section.  And this is why I have decided to seek help on the Forums.  Anyone have any ideas on how to get this up and running or should I just my get my mind off of the staffs and try to do something else.  Or should I just stop being so nitpicky and live with the staff being swung and then a random status appearing on the target.

Help! / Re: Just some small questions
February 26, 2011, 12:47:43 am
Thanks for the info, I'll be looking into those shortly since I came up with a couple of new idea's to try and test (Dream Sages and Sentinels, there going to be epic).  I found it somewhat weird when I learned that there were two different jobs for Malak, I was wondering why that was.

And I'm sorry but I've come across another question that I'm finding somewhat difficult to figure out by myself.  Is it essentially possible to make a character like Rad, a set character who isn't special have a special job instead of squire?  I'm trying to see how the characters are set to have certain first jobs but I'm not finding it.

Help! / Re: Just some small questions

I'm pretty much half asleep myself, but I usually can't get past that stage.  I'm always tired yet can never actually fall asleep.

Anyways, thanks for the reply.  Sad to know that I can't make more jobs accessible to my normal units, but I guess those are the limitations I get when working with a game that was on ps1 (and that I'm not actually programming the whole chalupa).  And the whole creating custom characters seems nice but it's just that I don't fancy myself as a spriter.  Basically what I did for my personalized pic is the extent of my abilities.  I've been trying to work on a dragon for one of my friends projects and it's taken me about 5-6 hours and I haven't even gotten through 1/6 of the first panel xD.  So yeah... I'll probably make an attempt in the future but that's probably in the far distance.

Another small question.  For the ENTD enemy levels, does Party level - Random stand for the party level minus a random value or it's just randomly around the party level?

Help! / Just some small questions
February 25, 2011, 04:42:04 am
So I was sitting down enjoying a nice snow day when I finally decided to try and get to know these modding tools I found on this site, since they were capable of editing my favorite video game of all time.  And after a bit of working I've been able to slightly edit things here and there.  Unfortunately in order to create a new ability for my messenger job class I had to write over a preexisting one (which was praise, which sucks since I love that ability to death but it is a little op inducing) and I was just wondering if there was any way to create new blank slots in the FFPatcher so I wouldn't have to do this every time or what other abilities can be replaced without too many problems.

Another question I had while working was if there was a way to get the job tree past 20 for the PSX version of the game.  The chart I found in the patcher has some open space where it seemed like you could add more if you could find a way.  The reason for this is because I was lucky the jobs I thought of could just be modified versions of the bard and dancer (a messenger and a shade maiden, I thought those were rather ingenious) and I'm pretty positive I won't think of something so basic next time so... yeah.  Either that or just what kind of special jobs can I edit without messing up too much storyline by replacing them (although I'd like to learn how to edit storyline in the future as well).

Just a newb of the noobs looking for some feedback.

Oh yeah, and this is my first post here so... hello ffhacktics community.
