Not really. We are all struggling on the portrait's earring =.=
Perhaps you could work on it again, Mike? ^^
I love to see more ^^

Ah good call Mike. I was just thinking about the Saga Frontier sprites the other day thinking they might be useful for FFT.

That's perfect, in my opinion. It looks like all the necessary angles are there too--great job, MiKe.

yeah it looks good I never finished that game due to bad equipment and stress from losses (well when it was in the 90's all in mind was having fun not leveling up).

the problem I guess is that most people during that time were like me and gave up so the game was not popular enough to be highly rated and ripped for sprites.

I just realized how terrible the shading on the neck was (and still is), so I attempted to fix it. Someone get me on the right track--perhaps there's a suitable example out there to base this on?

To me this looks perfect. This shading on neck is a minor detail that no one cares about,  ;)

Yeah, I modeled it off the male Thief when I was correcting it. I guess I like how it looks now, but I'm afraid that it's suffering from some severe pillow-shading...

Anyways, what are the plans for the sprite? Why not leave him without a hat for a little while, and get a body ready? Something like the male Thief's jacket and legs, Balthier's collar, Dycedarg's beard, some serious recoloring, and then you'll be set.

Yes, those sound fitting enough for the basic body sprite. Though I really do like how the portrait looks now.
