The hair looks awesome on the diagonals.  The North, South, and West look kinda wonky, but you'll hardly ever see it anyway.

You totally have the hair down. I would consider getting rid of the little forward flip on the front and side view though. Overall it is looking amazing and the design is great. There are just a few consistency issue though as far as his proportions and posture are concerned. He looks a little extra fat on the side and rear/side view. Also his head looks like it is in the wrong place for the rear/side. So very very nice.

I touched up the hair and removed an extra row of pixels. I made the hair more lightning-y and it's started to really grow on me. I am concerned now that the hair is too tall on the front 3/4 view, can anyone confirm this for me? ( I don't have shishi on work pc )

I've started filling out the rest of the sheet slowly but surely. Barring any major setbacks I'd put the sprite at 33% complete, with most of the body animations complete.

Also, you may notice that there's no red crosses on his arms in the preview. I am working on the arm animations now and I'm not sold on them just yet, and I think he still looks good without. We'll see.

Looking at the last preview, I realize that I have done exactly what I didn't want to do in the beginning...go overboard on the haircut. I'm keeping some of the lightning bolt styling but I'm also reverting back to the 2nd style back antennae on the front 3/4 view.

Yeah, I agree Stewelement, the new ones are a bit overboard.  I like the old ones quite a bit more, but you might want to keep the new ones for the critical HP frame.

The front pose is being difficult but I managed to curb the ridiculousness of the haircut while keeping the sharp angles. I think they will work better in-game than the squiggle looking hair.

@ Zozma : I certainly plan to keep quality levels high and suck factors to a minimum.

Looking again, I'm going to take your advice Kuraudo and use the newest lightning bolt hairstyles for the critical health/ getting hit poses. Sometimes its just difficult to leave artwork alone and not keep on tweaking it. I'll just have to force myself to quit working on the hair.

This is just looking so freaking awesome. The hair is looking really good in this newest preview, though you overcompensated on the front view now and it needs a few more pixels.

Everything else is really coming together. The crosses on the arm guards definitely aren't mandatory and could come after you have finished the arms anyways. If you are going to go to the trouble of custom spriting the arms a version with and without the cross would probably be helpful to others in the future.

I agree that the front view looks like it got clipped a bit too much. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing the "antenna" a bit longer on the back view and the side view either...but, that's just personal preference. This sprite is really shaping up to be a keeper.

Also, there could be more contrast, but it's not 100% necessary.

@ Cheetah and mav :

Please clarify, which poses need more pixels and where do they need them?

Have you tried moving the 'antenna hairs' 1 pixel away from each other, and then placing them 1 pixel upward?
(I'm talking about the front sprite) (270 degrees view)

Hmm...for the forward-facing sprite, move the edge pixel of each antenna down one, then over one. Then fill in the empty space with the light brown.

And for the rear-facing sprite, move the entire antenna over one pixel, so it should extend away from the ears. Fill in as necessary.

I attached what I'm talking about to make things a little clearer.

His antenna hair reminds me too much of Mewt to enjoy, other than that, he looks great.

Mav's additions are about what I was thinking. The antenna where just looking way to stunted in the front view before.

Ok..it's time for a MEGA update....it's been a long time coming. Right now there are some big errors with the arm animations ( I'm using Monk arms as a placeholder) and not all frames are complete but I think I've really come a long way with this sprite. I'd put it at about 70% done.
As an added bonus, I did not give him butt pants. Check it out and let me know what you all think. I'll check on the thread periodically until this weekend, then I'll be gone for 2 weeks to my annual Army Reserve training. I'd hoped to complete the sprite by then, but it's not gonna happen. It's better not to rush things anyway.

P.S. If anyone knows where Smash went, can you tell him to take a look at this sprite for me? Thanks

Wow this is so awesome. Though I have to say that his eyes are looking abnormally dark for some reason. I'm going to have to plug this into ShiShi and really take a closer look at it. The forward facing hair is still missing a little something, maybe one pixel wider on either side. Definitely take your time with this, it is such an amazing sprite.

The...things of hair need to be angled away from each other more and hang down rather than zigzag up into the air. This is good otherwise.

edit: crit was for the front view

Also, you may want to update the sprite's format so that it will fit in the latest Shishi's sprite format.
