Trouble topic.

So I lost my job today, because of inconpetence in a field I am supposed to know. (and Il admit it's mostly my fault).

This bring ahold a couple of troubles in my life. First since I start univesity in september, I only have 1 month and a half left and I don't think I can get a job for this long (just the summer).

More, this brings about monetary problems (paying my things), and since my mom can't give advice nor care for anything in my life anymore (Now she's angry at me...) and that my dad is away, I ask advice on FFH, where people can be a bit more mature sometimes.

I need to get some money this summer in a month in a half- what can do? Or other solutions, advice... I mean I need something to do not to get my dad pissed off but I doupt I can get a job.

You know that mood of hating the world and how it works because you sat on your ass but at the same time conditions din't help? It lasts 3-4 days and then you feel better, well I have that now.

Do you live near a body of water? If so, check local marinas. They are often looking for deckhands, dockboys, that sorta thing. The pay is usually okayish, but it has tips. Do you work near a busy restaurant? Check out busing tables. Don't even bother with waiting tables. Go straight for busing. Busboys are in high turnover rate this time of the year. Basically anything with tips will get you money -fast-. Dock/Deck work is just more fun and better paying usually. During working, you can look for other work in your field. Right now, you need to patch the money leak -now-. This is the best way I've found.

Also, check a local mall. Sometimes kiosk owners are looking for part time, for cash work so they can go out and party. I did this for awhile too, really helped out when I was down and out. I've even worked for a scam artist for "for cash" pay for two weeks. Check your local ads (does Canada have Craigslist?), check job posting boards, look for anything that says weekly pay or cash pay. Stay tough, man. It's a hard road, but it does get better with perseverance.

If the worst happens, then I guess tutoring would be a safe option? I'm not sure on your area, but tutors are basically needed anywhere here... Restaurants are pretty good too here, and waiters are always needed. No such thing as tips here though, the whole restaurant may get like $100 tip over a week? So I don't know what pay is like in Canada.

Find ways to make money will likely be tough. You might consider ways of saving money instead.

Cancel a few subscriptions, take a break from Netflix, Hulu, or anything else like that. Working on spending less money can be more productive than fruitless job hunting, especially if you only have a month and a half.

I was going to suggest selling drugs to get my lolz.

But for seriousness, you could donate plasma if you have a Biolife or some other plasma agency nearby. They pay at least 20$ per donation, and you can donate twice a week. Its not much but it could help. First day takes a 3-4 hours and after that its an hour and a half tops. Just drink alot of milk, juice, or water, and stay away from soda, coffee, and booze.

I would suggest taking out loans and trying to get scholarships. It's what I'm going to have to end up doing since I don't have a job in the first place and my dad probably won't have enough grants to take me to the university I want.

Koko I don't know if there are pawn shops and/or scrapyards in Canada. Me and my dad would just go hunting random scrap metal, throwin' it in the back of the truck. Shit we would pawn off random crap that wasn't imperative to our survival like chainsaws. Heh. Railroad tracks often have plenty of scrap metal near them in certain areas, like the older parts.

I would not recommend selling any drugs except pot, and then only if your country/state has loose laws on weed and cops who have better things to do.  But even that won't work, because growing weed takes months and requires a significant investment and private property, preferably in a rural area, or a warehouse.

Get a fat whore girlfriend to buy you shit?  Date older women who buy you shit?  Rob a liquor store?  Make a porno?  Carjacking?

You won't get much more than ~200 bucks from a restaurant, and since they have security cameras the risk of being caught isn't worth it.

Firstly I'd just like to say that I've spent about 12 years in restaurants, and if you were to come into any of my restaurants (that is, the ones I've worked at, never owned one) with the intent to rob the joint, you would more likely get stabbed by a bat shit crazy line-cook (those mother-F'ers are generally quite insane) But the idea of busing tables is a good quick way to make some cash, and if you have any people's skills waiting tables is even better. There is also the option of asking around your neighborhood about people who need help with landscaping projects, I've had good experience in the past with things like that. It's also a pretty decent idea to check local construction sites to see if they need a runner (a guy who brings things from point a to point b) and also check local pizza places if you have a car for jobs delivering, in my experience pizza delivery is a very surprisingly lucrative line of work. Hopefully any of these were useful suggestions. In the worst case scenario, find a very well populated area, get some grungy clothes, and take up panhandling, I don't know canadian laws on the matter but here in the states street performance is legal almost everywhere and can make a very decent amount of money, I used to make anywhere between 25-300 bucks a day playing guitar badly, and I once met a fellow who made $300,000 a year panhandling outside of the DC greyhound station. It isn't the most honest work, but in that sense, you'd be doing the same thing as a corporate executive, raking in the cash with lies, it's really not that bad when you think about it.

Concerning pizza delivery:

I worked that job for ~8 months. It. Is. Hell. Drivers are *highly* expendable and the store knows it. Only do it if you're good at driving around suburban areas very fast, can hold your tongue when annoying customers yell at you for something the cooks messed up, and don't mind being stepped on by higher ups.

Then again I only worked at dominoes, so maybe other pizza joints are less evil. A local, non-franchise pizza place might actually have good working conditions.

Well most working conditions suck for drivers, but simple fact, it is fast money, and when compared to the wages of other workers in the store, the extra hell is pretty well justified. Yeah it's certainly not the best option on the list, but it is an option.

I worked for a smaller franchise called Pizza Pitt. The owners of my particular store were wonderful people. And you learn your area pretty quick, for shortcuts and high-traffic areas and stuff.
