Thanks, nyzer!

Just what I was looking for. Okay! I think I'll drop that idea and take your advice on the matter.

Hi, Lorden's back! After 22 months, that is.
Hope somebody still remembered me even after appearing for just a couple of weeks the first time I registered here.

Anyways, here's a question for the WotL players:

Do you prefer to have a specific job class to only be able to effectively defeat a specific monster family? Or not?

For example, when you met a group of dragons and hydras, you should deploy a Dragoon to annihilate them easily. If you use other job, let's say Geomancer, they'll be having a hard time defeating those dragons. But, still beatable the hard way, though. So in foresight, you'll have to change job classes frequently to adapt to the future events.

I am asking because, obviously, for me that's somewhat fun. But, I feel it is very troublesome so I would like the opinion of the people who will be playing my mod in the future.

A little background in the mod:
I've changed every generic and special job/ability/items/skillset names and descriptions. Added a few monsters, very few. Changed generic job sprites. Already done most of it that I can actually upload it within this week. However, I am also changing the events. I am 1% done with the events. I have a video of the opening event, I'll post it if you want to look at it. I changed everyone's names and some of their personalities and histories.

Being my first mod, I really pour my heart onto it. So if you have opinions regarding the problem mentioned above, I would really be grateful. And as a side note, please stay on the topic. I know the limitations of WotL modding so please don't say something like what I want isn't doable or not.

So, yeah! Pour out all your opinions. :D

So, yeah! I'm actually not famous here so you might want to skip this one. However, I just want to clear something out for those people who I've conversed with that might still remember me. I don't want to look like someone who just shows then poof! The first topic I posted here in ffhacktics way back involves about the unravelling of my nearly-finished mod. I also asked for opinions on the matter and took it to heart. But then, my laptop died a brutal death. I wasn't able to salvage anything from it. Needless to say, my nearly-finished mod was gone. Fast forward to November 2017, I've bought a new laptop. That heartbreak would have stopped me from doing everything all over again but the "Motivate" status instilled upon me by Angel/Toshiko hasn't been removed yet. So here's a new nearly-finished mod. I hope nothing unfortunate would happen again. Pray with me.  ;)

I've guessed it! There really IS a history behind it.

"Etna" and "Mitsuru", never thought I'd hear them here. Well, I guess since we're here for the FFT, most of us here have similar game preferences. (But really, Mitsuru-that name, wow! I think that's the last thing I'll forget in everything you've said)

I am also bad at imagining how people look like. Most often I found myself thinking they're beautiful and handsome creatures, resulting in disappointment. After four times of disappointment is where I stopped. (I just loved number four :D Weird!)

Maybe you should really put an avatar. It's like what distinguishes us from the rest. Like, when you see a portrait that looks like a Shinigami, you'll know it's Elric. Or if you see a dog with a toasted sausage, you'll know it's Angel. And also I noticed that the Personal Text below the avatar also helps. Like, they always call Angel as Toshiko (or maybe there is some history behind that) (or are they different person?) (or are they gonna call me Disaresta now?) (No one knows!)

PS: Oh, and don't mind the parentheses! (I'm just talking to myself inside it)

When I was growing up, I kinda dreaded getting married since I thought it'd be like on TV sitcom.

...or like my parents :D But, yeah, I'm thinking the same thing.

Well you won't find any here, and if you do lemme know. I got a banhammer with their names on it :D

Wow! That's a relief :)

That's okay ;) I'm married.

I thought married men looked more sulky than unmarried men, and you're not. It may sound corny but I think you've got a great wife there. :) Nice!

Maybe because I don't believe something magical til I know I can imitate it. Or maybe it is just my attitude: never in my life did I ask for help (except money from my parents). I study things on my own and do thing my own way, of course as long as there is a source of information I can find in the net. I am very diligent in researching things. Like, it's easier for me to search for things than to ask for it. It may seem prideful but I'm humble at the same time. And if ever I am asking for help, it's mostly opinions and reactions or such. Regarding my project, I do not perfectly think it would be so earth-shattering a project, but for me it looks awesome. And even while working on it, it feels awesome. I'm glad this place have bunch of supportive members in their own unique way. It makes it easier for me to travel alone knowing somebody's got my back (wow!). Now, I'm emotional! Just kidding XD I just get weary when I'm doing something no one would want or I'm doing something no one even cares.

Currently, I am working on the Special Jobs and determining sprites in the ENTD that do not have strange action (so as to not making sprites look glitched when I change them, I hope you got what I meant).

Right now, I am limiting myself severely but I think this work can still impress some five or twenty out there (or just one? or maybe one hundred? let's see) :)

I look forward to seeing it in the end!

Make sure because I'll hold you on to it. XD

2) you majestically have working knowledge of assembly level programming on no fewer than two platforms and high level emulation layer comprehension, and are basically the second coming of Jesus to the WotL community.

Haha! XD Far from the truth. Second coming, lol

I had just made a late realization that ability effects are hardcoded in WotL. The Animations tab is for the Character Animation only (before casting, while casting, and after casting) and not the abilities themselves. That decrease my workload, though so I'm getting closer to finishing this project. Also I realized that I am not going to tweak everything in the Monster Classes so another decrease in workload.

I've gotten the little push that I needed so I'll consider this topic solved. Next time, I'm gonna flash another topic after this project and include vast info regarding the changes I've made. Thanks, everyone (even to those people who just increase the Read Counts).

@ANGEL, it doesn't seem like it but I'm proud of what or who I am. I shouldn't have posted my pic if I'm not. :D But honestly, some famous social media sites can led you to believe some things that really aren't. I found a bunch of asian haters there.. lol

@ELRIC, hate to break it on you but your old man must have gotten more ladies than you. just kidding! ;D Anyway, it looks fun. Unfortunately, I don't think we have something like that here in the Philippines. Only Cosplay, and hundreds of Traditional Fest I never even heard of, only some.

I assume most people here are Westerners (and Europeans). There are three types: 1)those who like asian 2) those who do not care and 3) those who hate asian. I just assume the later to be safe.

Anyways, thanks. I've just recently registered but I've been passively viewing this forum for almost a year. So, actually, some people here are like "celebrity" to me.

I never thought there's something like this here. Anyway, here's ME! I'm Asian, sorry.

Oh, so I see. Yeah, that sounds right! I do have FFTorgASM hack which I have tried to some extent, but stupid me, I tried it in the PSP and it didn't work [I just took the chance, never quite believe everything I've read 'til I've tried]. But even so, I would like to try my hand on such extensive projects. Kinda like the Jot5? My writer's instinct is telling me to create my own FFT story, too.

Anyways, thanks for the time. I'm glad this community isn't dead and that I'm not too late in participating in this.

Yes, you're right. I might have put so much heart and soul to it being my first project and all. I have read some of your replies to others' posts and I think you're rather kind to me. I mean, I do not mean it as an insult, it's more like an assurance for me that I think I've done something right. You made me realize that after this project, I'm going to learn every tutorials in PSX hacks and make one myself if it's feasibly possible to do so.

I've read in so many many many posts that it's very difficult to work on a decent PSX hack alone. But I have no choice really, I do not have consistent internet connection so I think I ought to learn most of it by myself. (Sounds rough :? ) But, whatever.

Maybe after seeing for myself how hard it would be to hack PSX, then I'll decide whether to target the few or the crowd (or both? if I am not underanalyzing).

Lastly, and personally, being honest is never rude so thank you for taking the time to reply.

I had just registered in FFH but it's already been a year that I am passively viewing some topics here in this forum. And I'm currently working on my newbie hack using FFTPatcher. Many talks about WotL hacks being ignored had made me doubt my efforts though. I mean, should I finish it knowing that no one would even take the time to download it if it's done? Should I move my effort to hacking PSX instead? Am I really just wasting my time?

As a beginner to this kind of industry(?), it would made me feel I achieved something if I started with this simple version first. After that, I'm gonna step up my game. But there are two possible outcome: 1)I will be motivated to work on PSX [I perfectly knew how difficult it can be] or 2) I will be discouraged in pursuing hacking either versions.

Am I talking in circles? All I wanted to know is, are there still quite a number of people that are interested in new approach to WotL? Here's what I've already done:

- New whole sets of Job Classes and their own Descriptions
- New whole sets of Skills and their own Descriptions
- Changed All Equipment and Item: Names, Sprites, Effects and Descriptions
- Changed JP Costs and Job Requirements
- Changed how Status Effects works
- Changed Stat Growth and Stat Multiplier

And here's what I'm currently working on:

- Special Job and Monsters: Names, Skills, Stat Growth, Stat Multiplier and Descriptions
- Enemies on Random and Story Maps
- Skill Animations (this may be the only difficult thing in hacking the PSP version)
- Poacher's Den and Errands

Please let me know what you guys think. Either positive or negative.
