Are there any tools for editing descriptions around or is this a hex editor kind of thing?

I too would be interested in more tools for modding A2. Though I don't suppose there will anymore updates since the creator hasn't logged onto the forum in a year. There aren't any other tools out there I'm missing are there?

I tested as well and the new stuff did unlock after the 4th Totema.

Yeah. I haven't used the item on AI teams past the mid point or so of the game as they become inferior to what you mentioned. 1 range, no aoe, Esuna like spells can remove several debuffs instead of only one etc.

Oh, I see. I suppose I will give that a test. The 2nd Totema sounds about right. Will check after 4th one. I wonder if a map editor will help with AI formation modding in the future.

Also, speaking of AI, is it possible to choose which items the AI will use in battle? For regular skillsets you can in the formation editor, but item doesn't seem to have the option I don't recall them ever using anything besides Potion and Phoenix down. I tried changing the behavior on some of the items and they started using them, but I don't want them using X-Potions at level 5.

Are there any more updates planned for this?

Also, exactly which missions do tier 2 and 3 items unlock if you use the hack that unlocks things based on story progression?

Are Assassins are still worth using? It seems like you took everything from the job that would make you want to use one.

-They're much slower than Ninjas.
-Their physical attack isn't much higher than that of a Mage(Viera get no supports like Weapon Atk+ or Double Sword)
-Their magic attack is worse than a Fencer's.
-Last Breath had its accuracy reduced.
-No Ultima Masher
-Much less MP
-Less Mobility
-No Stop

That's good to know. There are hardly any posts in this section of the forum now so I figured most hacking for the games was dead. It's too bad one thing that will probably never be fixed is the game's ai. It really does feel like the a2 ai picks a random move to use on you. I can't tell you how many times I've had something with like 5 hp but the ai would rather  use confusion or some other non-damaging status rather than kill me. Using power break on black mages annoyed me too.

Can you upload these files again? The link is dead and I want to edit the names of abilities(like changing fira to fire 2 for example). Or is there a tool out now that makes this possible without hex editing? http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=6336.0 This was suppose to eventually include all text in the game but hasn't happened.

What are you going to do with Swallowtail and such since the ai can't handle them having 2 aoe?

Cool. Thanks for the information. I'm not sure how far I'll get with it as the desire to mess with the abilities isn't all that great. It's mostly for monsters that I want to do it actually as they generally consist of 1 or 2 actions then a support/reaction.]

The extra job thing was also for monsters as I noticed that everything has 3 sprite palettes and in the previous tactics game each monster had 3 variations. I think only drakes and flans have more than 2 variations in this game.

Why would the post mission text be a problem? I'm assuming you mean it would cause a problem in the game If one of the new jobs were dispatched to a mission and the pass/fail dialogue came up for character?

Also, I feel like I've seen it somewhere around here before but cannot find it. How can I disable mp regeneration? I know it's possible since the Grim Grimoire hack uses it.

How would I go about the hex editing route?

Also, In the job editor I saw many empty jobs entries with completely blank stats. Does this mean I could use this space for new jobs? Or are they dummy entries used by the game somewhere.

How can I add extra abilities to a race? I'm using the FFTA All in One editor but I don't really see a way to select skills for the race/job to have. I only see that I can change the start and end points. Note: I don't want to create new abilities, just add them to races,including monsters.

Is there a way to disable natural MP regeneration as well? The 10 per turn/20 with mp channeling.

I agree to the level scaling thing. While I haven't played this hack, I've been adjusting most of the enemies to increase their stats and make them more unique like flan's having ridiculous physical defense in pretty much every other final fantasy game(even ffta had this but it was changed in ffta2). My biggest problem with difficulty atm is just I've out leveled everything. The game gives too much exp. In FFTA my problem was that by end game I was 10 levels behind because I didn't do enough missions, now in FFTA2 in midgame I'm 10 levels ahead and there is no challenge. I just send my mage to the front line and nuke everything.

Hm. Yeah. I guess for event purposes it'd probably be a problem. I don't thinking changing his race would cause a problem, but the sprite for events and overworld probably would. I'd settle for even just his battle sprites being changed.

Is it possible to change the race of the player to another like Moogle as well as the sprite? I want to play as another race and I don't like the way the main character looks.

Also, as a side note, why doesn't FFTA2 have its own forum?
