D: The shading was really good jimmy, but it did make her look like a very angry, butch woman..

Mouth is too high, hair looks flat, there aren't enough shades for the skin. It's a marked improvement over the original though. Good work.

Tried adding some brown from the hair along her face by the hairline, also some of the grey from the shading to her neck
I also gave her some more streaks

Yeah, you're headed to right path, but make sure it will also look like other fft ports.
For example, compare the head size of your portrait with Jill's.

As for the sprite,
I think you need another color for the skin.
(for the bones or whatever you call those)

The grey in the skirt and the dark blue in the blouse are very similar and can be merged I think. If you want the two colors to be different, they're not different enough.

I also only count 12 colors:

1 - black (outline, eyes, ect)
3 - shades of brown for boots/hair
2 - skin shades
1 - grey in skirt
2 - white shades in belt
2 - blue shades in blouse
1 - Transparency (EDIT: Whoops, forgot about this one)

If there's any more colors, they're too similar to one of these and should be merged.

Anyway, great progress so far. Lot of work to go but keep at it.

Hah. I was thinking the same thing.

Kaijyuu's color count seems pretty accurate to me, take a look at the palette and revise accordingly.
