should they have R/S/M ability like everyone else
yes or no
I'd say no, but the fact is that the way they have to level up makes them useless. By the time you level them up you're like more than half way to max level so their growth boost comes way too late.
They'd be better if they just required 2x the JP to level and had use of *level 1* spells.
or we could scrap them all together cause as far as tanks go we have orlandeau and monks
I gave them a skillset with no r-ab or s-ab or mov-ab.
I say you should give them special sword attacks which can cause status effects or elemental strikes. Maybe get a few good innate skills like counter, first strike, attack boost, and defense boost.
But, then they'd just be Mystic Knights with no mp cost.
To make them like in FF3ds, which is the only official version that has skills, they'd have to be able to cast low level spells.
What might be cool is to give them stronger versions of all the skills the Squire has. Maybe a few unique spells would be nice, too.
They don't cast just low level Black and White Magic in FF3 DS. They can cast all Black and White Magic spells.
Huh... My mistake. That's kinda lame. I'd rather have a Red Mage in that case.
I like my other idea better then.
I like Vanya's idea a lot also.
Same here actually.
More like an actual combo between Knight, Wizard, and Priest, a combo of the three lowest classes to make a high level class.
They definitely need to be improved, giving them some innate strengths would be a start.
I say we boot them in favor of a better class or "technical option" in any patch created on the psp version..

Exactly, as is their worthless.
OK ftw
PSPMASTERPatch OK are ftw
FFT J.L. 8 OK ftw
If you do red mage, he can have all the strong black/white magic, the knights can have the weak white magic, and the ninjas or thiefs the weak black magic, like in FF1.
It is my opinion that any patches that still have Onion Knights should give them Reaction, Support, and Movement abilities to keep them from being useless. Even stat buffs are not enough as other classes with great setups should always be able to beat an Onion Knight that is restricted only to equipment. Unless of course they at least are given high enough movement to be able to catch their target before being whittled away. Units with 7 or 8 movement total and ranged attacks will possibly always make things difficult for Onion Knights.
