if you want a perma dancer char maybe switch the dancer sprite set with another sprite set that has the desired effect and swap out all instances of such for everything else, if you didn't think of it already (but isn't the dancer the second sprite type? it loks like you listed only male perma sprite instances) hope this helps anyone else if it works
I never learn from my mistakes.

if you are getting rid of calculators in your game you could put the dancer there... i beleive they are also type 2 and can't you do the perma sprite with a calc?

I am. In turn, I'm restoring Summoners to their original power.

I never ditch calculator. But I always ditch Math Skill, usually ditch the Calculator sprite, prefer to change Calculator to "Sage", and am a big advocate of Summoner being the ultimate mage.

Oh wait, that means I've completely erased Calculator.  Maybe one of these days I'll actually finish something I start, and you can see my work.

Vanya: when you say original, do you mean back to the big boost the English translators gave it or back to the Japanese version?
I assume you mean the Summon Magic itself, not the actual Summoner?
I changed jobs and that has made all the difference.

The two differ? They changed stats around in the US Version?

The spells. I want the old school spells that hit only enemies and every enemy. I'll lower the spell power just a tad, and give them a status effect based on the original FF3 spells.

Wow, that is absurdly powerful... Of course your idea to create an "old school" patch seems quite endearing, what else do you have in mind?

Classic versions of monsters, jobs, rare monsters, traditional equipment, that sort of thing. I'll start a thread in the projects section sooner or later.

Necro-bump.

I tested sprite set 83 on a random battle with Lede's Assassin class, and I somehow got Funeral Priest (56)? I was using the PSP version and used FFTPatcher v.457 to test, and the battle played out fine but it was very awkward to play and win said battle. O_o

So, just to clarify: There's no permanent Bard/Dancer sprite set? Should I use Shishi to swap some sprite sets around to make a permanent Bard and Dancer Sprite set? Because there are some parts which I see some redundancies under the sprite list (in the home page of this site), but I'm not sure if any of them are used in any part of the game (aside from the ones amongst the Lucavi sprites, since those are used for the undead). One example that comes to mind is Male Oracle.

I would make a topic under the "Help" forum, but considering a topic has been made already on the issue I thought it would be less... cluttering to just post here. I apologize if this proves annoying to my fellow community and members viewing this post.

The Bard and Dancer are just the male female versions of the same job, they just added special code to give the dancer it's own job data instead of handling it like the rest of the Generic jobs.

Since the sprite sets that would normally access their sprites are being used to represent Generic Units there should be no way to access Female Calc, Bard, or Dancer. That is unless you dopplegang them as special units.

If Bard and dancer are just male and female jobs seperated with a code... is it possible to do this with any other jobs? with the possibility of creating a patch that had male jobs different from female jobs?

Theoretically, yes.
I can't, however , even begin to speculate just how much ASM hacking would have to go into it.

Nah, just put Bard and dancer as one of the first job to unlock (Requisite= Level 2 squire) then use bard and dancer as requisite for every other job to split the wheel in half

Yes, but with the ASM hack we're speculating about the Job wheel wouldn't have to be split.
