I'm definitely down with the grammatical changes and the "Dycedarg's Elder brother" thing.

Hurry; we have to kill Ajora!/We have to kill Ajora. Hurry!
Are you party to the plot? (I feel like I'm missing something here. Is this the right context?)

Only that people are notoriously immobile when it comes to what they're used to.

Me for one.

But then again, white mage/black mage has been used in more final fantasies so maybe it makes sense after all. I certainly think priest/wizard has a little more character though.

Adjectives eh.

Well you probably aren't going to like this but the adjective for "haste" is "hasteful".

Odds on you aren't going to like that one bit so I guess it might be best to move on a "per unit" basis; whatever seems most appropriate.

I do agree with the Faithful, Innocent scheme though.

I can't believe Priest and Wizard aren't winning this. Drat.

I voted Lancer but I meant to vote Dragoon.

Dragoon please.

How flexible do you want to be with the script? Do you just want to correct the errors or are you also out to actually improve the quality of the writing in general? I'll have to grab the script, but I seem to remember lots of exposition, redundancy and stilted dialogue. Is that stuff on the market as well?

Carved Model
"Almagest" is, according to the webs, the correct spelling
Also, "Blastar" isn't a word. Blaster is a correct, if somewhat prosaic, alternative. If you want a new word here, the word "bell" might come in handy. Bell is used euphemistically for "head" (a "bell-ringer" is a moment of inspiration or epiphany) and it's not a long trip to imagining a "bell" as a helmet or protective covering for the head.

Bellstar doesn't make much sense though. Bellstrike/Bellcleft might be better.

Also, you might want to give some thought to whether you want verb/noun/adj consistency.

Faith is a noun; Innocent is an adjective

I agree with Argg0 about the numerical denominations. I could see myself coming round on a third naming system; I just really hate ga and ja.

Nor do I particularly like the x mage system. Oracle is a good name that, at the very least, shouldn't be homogenised as "Yin-Yang Mage".

Oh yeah, something should probably be done about "beak" and "beaking".

Quote from: "VincentCraven"I believe we already have Power Break on Battle Axe and Pitfall on Giant Axe.

The quote shouldn't come up because it is an effect of the attack command. Have you ever seen any magic gun wielder give a quote before or during their gunshot? I haven't. And mages who beat enemies with their rods never give quotes to precede the magic that comes out. The ability name doesn't even come up, so there is no window for a quote anyway.

Touche

Is there any desire to even out the categories of weapons at all? Maybe toss in a few more axes via weapons from other classes that don't really serve any purpose.

You wanted to change all the axes right? One could have Chicken and one could have Shellbust stab.

Also, if Shellbust Stab triggers and the quote comes up, whose profile will it be?

I'm all for the chicken axe. Here's hoping people would still want to use it instead of 2-Swordsing something else.

But couldn't the same be said of all weapons that add statuses? You can't talk about boosting Chicken's effectiveness via 2-swords without starting a kind of ridiculous arms race towards overpowered weapon attributes. What else would be more effective if it were 2-swordsable, you know?

Quote from: "VincentCraven"yep, no more calculation...

But Calculator is now the best carrier class with the best MA growth and a slew of innate abilities! Have you tried out the new Calc?

Nah I haven't actually tried it out yet. I was just wondering whether it would still be considered imbalanced to let it calculate with this new watered down spell list. I guess I'm just sorry to see the unique aspect of the class go even though I'm totally against the overpowered nature of the first incarnation.

I'm all for it being a neat carrier class though.

I like the chicken idea myself but I don't really like the sound of them being 2 swordable.

two-swords is just thoughtless in a lot of ways. It's almost always the dominant choice for your character's setup. It'd be better to come up with some novel ideas that would make non 2S setups just as appealing to the player.

Could axes ignore shield evasion or something? That can be their "thing".

Of course, I'm not confident that's even possible.

Or maybe they could be weapons that sacrifice one stat for another: Lower HP for increased PA, lower speed for increased MA, lower PA for increased speed.

Could they damage both HP and MP? Chance to cut the enemy's level by 1?

There are probably any number of things you could add to make them useful so long as they have some kind of niche.

I'd vote for Crush Punch as well. Return2 would be an interesting choice if you could up the %chance but from what I understand, that isn't really possible.

A suggestion I have would be giving Orlandu a sample of skills from each set rather than the whole dang lot.

Also, from the change list:

"Math Skill has been removed from the game. Farewell, cheapness and uniqueness. Hello Cure, Protect, Shell, Fire, Ice, Bolt, Stop, Blind and one heck of a carrier class."

I take it this means that the calculator no longer has the unique "calculating" aspect of his skillset. But wouldn't it be more acceptable to have that now that the skill list has been pared down? I think that would be a decent compromise since it gets to keep the uniqueness and not be overpowered. 'Stop' might be pushing it a little but whatever.

Quote from: "VincentCraven"Yeah, I'm definitely lurking. The PSP remake is basically a "set the European mood" update with a hint of "Yay! New classes and characters!"

Thats pretty much it. Why make subtle changes that add depth when you can add "OMG MORE JOBZ".

I'd also try to reduce redundancy in the game. There should be some reason to equip move+1. I just hate it when moves are totally superceded in every way.

I think people might be lurking, waiting for an update. I'm still keen on this project since the PSP remake seems pretty crap. I dont care one way or another about the new titles and names but the changes they have made seem annoyingly superficial with no attention paid to balancing the game whatsoever.

Would it be possible to show the unused effects in a youtube vid or something? I've never made one so I dont know how much work that would be. Nevermind if it's a pain in the ass.

The side of me concerned with fairness wants to say regular old death, but the side of me that wants to see Odin do something unique says crystal. I voted crystal but I definitely think it needs a lot of balancing attention. I don't think simply lowering the % chance is going to do it. Maybe crystalisation could only occur on HP critical opponents or something.
