The demand for portraits is high and only a few that can generate awesome results are available and most are busy with their projects.

one of the spriters here mentioned about a work sheet where copy pasting portraits is done easily and they have compiled a lot of Portraits to do professional results.

with your approval I am willing to collate all usable ports from the spriting section to create a Portrait worksheet that even newbies like me can generate decent results (not to the G0dly level of Smash and Curu but really quality wise good).

you can also donate portraits from your own portfolio if you want. . .

I have an actual worksheet with lots of ports already but will not post it as of yet unless majority agree or their owners will allow it to be used. . .

Still Hoping to compile all custom ports on site and get the majority of the community to approve. . .

so here is an example: (only ingame and ports that I have used on my sprites)

Great Idea. This will be useful to beginners and to those who don't have time. You can add all portraits from my finished sprites.

But, exclude my current avatar drom the list.. :P
He's still a WIP..

Hmm.. after you compile all these, we can probably make a
FFT portrait maker program..

Seu, jimmy has a collection of portraits too. In case you don't know.

Okay I will take your current avatar out of my list. . . I know Mav has a portfolio. . . Jimmy does too? well hope I could locate that. . .

It is unimaginable how we can make a portrait editor with out editing parts manually. . . I am relearning Flash. . . will use tons of layers to do the sprite generator thing we talked about. . . first thing I'm going to make would be a sprite concept creator ^__^ just the facing forward/diagonal frame. . . then print screen to copy paste in MS paint to a sprite sheet. . .

Yeah. That would be a hard job.

Quotefirst thing I'm going to make would be a sprite concept creator
Mostly newbs will praise you if you finish it. :)

well I still hope you find a way to may the portrait generator. . . maybe just use a hollowed flesh face then u select the eyes. . . the chin. . . the hair will be like a wig. . . the mouths (smile,Grin, laugh)

Hey! that spriter I was talking about in the first post that was you! you where the one who said you had a work sheet for portraits. . .

Wa? Was that from the Mercenaries Thread? Is that really me?

EDIT:
How can the user convert the portrait into 16 colors?

yeah i think so. . . because I read two people say it that way you and Smash. . . Smash on his thread stated he has a worksheet except he has all the sprites around his sheet not portraits. . .

I did a portrait for my a friend a few weeks ago using a method similar to above.
Oh pitiful shadow lost in the darkness, bringing torment and pain to others. Oh damned soul wallowing in your sin, perhaps...it is time to die

Yep and I need your approvals if it would be okay to get the available portraits to create a full portrait worksheet full of Vanilla and custom ports (including FFT style avatars). Credits will be made. . .

Good idea, Seu. I should have developed one of these too...Since this is pretty much all I do: borrow from sprites, switch stuff around, clean up, reduce colors, etc.

Thanks Mav, BT, Mike, DP and Scat I will update a version 2 then with some of the work you gave. . .

@krobelus: That is one large set of Portraits you sent me in PM pretty much all was collated in it with only a months worth of missing new FFT avatars and custom portrait. . . hope they approve first before we could post that dont want to have fellow patchers stating their work should not be there. . .

I tried doing something like this. im so noobish i dont know how to this picture in a spoiler so ima just put it like this

The first 2 portraits stacked on top of eachother (i.e. the knight portrait and under it there is the archer portrait)then next is moving 1 part of the other portrait onto the other portrait in this case knight head onto archer body then portrait after that is the edited one that ive tweaked to look more normal instead of 2 half faces stuck together. Anyone can use em i just ask if you submit a sprite with one of these portraits(not sure if they are all 16 colors) just give me a little credit.

Raijinili: Remember that you're telling a modding community that the game they love could use some fixing.

A quick 10 minutes of using this method I created a new Male Ninja portrait using the original Male Ninja Portrait, and the Male Lancer Portrait.

I can't wait to see the day that a flash program or something that allows creating a portrait becomes available. That will be so awesome. Although I think it would be just as awesome to create one for Character Sets  as well. It was easily done in the RPG Maker Community so I don't see why it couldn't work here. The only tedious part (besides programing the actual program) would be separating all of the parts (eyes, arms, hairstyles, clothing etc,).

great edit I like ninja's to have the cloth rounded up to the face than have a cloth sticking out. . .

For your portrait making program idea Mike and I can tackle Ideas with that. . . I will be releasing a concept creator using Flash that will compose of head swaps on bases for the first version than later would be done piece by piece which would lead to full conceptualization from gloves, belts, shoulder pads, helmets, hats, boots, shirts, armors, and hair ornaments. . . the first version will just be a test. . .

well still chopping sprite heads from vanilla as we speak and I'm at 54 - Funeral Woman. . .

Wow it has been like a year since I last opened this file. Not that I do my work in photoshop so there are a lot of hidden layers with different versions and base portraits to work off of.

Most of this stuff is for the Chronicles of Kanbabrif.
