Wotl Sprite Type Changing Problem

First type posting on here. Hi all.

I was trying to change sprites from type 2 to type 1 (namely M Geomancer). Is there a way to do this besides Shishi because no matter how I try it seems to not work. Here's my observations:

Befor all the attempts I created a copy of my game iso.

ATTEMPT 1:
I imported a type 1 sprite sheet into a type 2 character and then changed SHP and SEQ from type 2 to type 1. Exited Shishi, started the game, the animation sequence seems to still be type 2.

ATTEMPT 2:
Opened iso again, navigated to character I wanted to change. Set both SHP and SEQ to from type 2 to type 1. Imported a type 1 sprite. Exited, no changes. Animation seems to be still type 2.

---
So out of curiosity, I opened the edited ISO with Shishi. I noticed that the changes are saved and are visible on the dropdown. They both say type 1 from the SHP and SEQ -- so for sure the change got written into the ISO. Running the game again, still animates the sprite with Type 2.

I'm pretty sure this issue is exclusive to WOTL. I'm using a USA ISO I ripped from my UMD with a number of mods already patched in.

Is this there currently now way to edit WOTL sprite SHP and SEQ types?
Is there another way to edit this by using other tools than Shishi?

In case anyone's wondering, I'm editing Orator F (from T2 -> T1) and Geomancer M (from T2 -> T1).

I have had previous success changing Type 2 generic sprites to Type 1 by doing it in the way that you describe with Attempt 2. However, I recently was not able to turn Ramza and Delita into Type 2 despite using that method. It seems as if there is some wonky hardcoding in WotL.

Still, I would recommend trying that second method on an unmodded ISO first.

I just reverted the sprite into the original one for now. I'll test it on a fresh ISO tomorrow.

Shishi recently had a new feature added that allows you to make a .shishipatch file, which includes all the non-image data that the program alters. You could try saving and applying that, see if it sticks? Otherwise, it may be additional WotL hardcoding, or a bug that Glain could potentially look into. Keep us posted!
