I've put playing Fallout 3: Broken Steel off because I've been playing other games, such as The Cursed Crusader. I got TO: LUCT, but I have no intentíon of doing the 118 floors in the palace of the dead. I pretty much just stick to RPGs, but there aren't many coming my way right now. The fact that I'm in development of a RPG Maker game just adds to my nigh-on-extinct game sessions, and I'm kind of out of luck for a game right now.

You know, Toshiko, Tolten was actually the most relatable (besides of course his royal status) because he was so weak, and also had a nice vocabulary. This made me go back to something I did back when my grandfather introduced me to Legend of Dragoon, the first RPG I ever played. I decided that I would pretend to be my favorite character. (This was when I was three, mind you, so don't judge.) Now, enter nerdy ten year old Tristan with no friends. My mother bought Lost Odyssey when we first got our Xbox 360 (the first console I ever played on that belonged in my house) When I started using Tolten, I gave him all my best rings, and swords. He was eventually doing more damage than Kaim.
I think the reason I loved LO so much was because of LOD (One letter difference, never noticed that until now.) And of course the amazingly written dreams (as of yet I have still not found every one), not to forget the great music.
Another reason LOD contributed to my love of the game was the combat system. In LOD, you pressed buttons before a character hit an enemy. E.G. With Dart, he hits four times consecutively, and you have to hit the right button as he hits each time. This is similar to the rings in LO.

MORE COMMENTS:
Toshiko, you are right about the game being underexposed, but look at Game Informer's review of LO.

I think I'll try out Tales of Symphonic if possible, I have a Wii and eBay.

Happy to see the Digimon games, Mike.

Wow. This sure got a lot more replies than I'd expected. I'm honestly quite surprised that a good number of people here play LO, due to its 800k or so units sold.
COMMENT TIME:
I liked that little Lost Odyssey streak as well, Toshiko.

I only played Dragon Quest 9 and 6, the latter of which I lost before I could finish, but I do like them.

Played FFIII, but never got around to finishing it. I do like it though.

Feel free to share your favorite three RPGS and, if you want, say why. Please don't criticize others' picks, but you can comment on their picks. I guess I'll say mine and explain briefly:
1. Lost Odyssey- The perfect RPG for me, this game was criminally underrated, and was made by the creator of Final Fantasy. I found it to be more worthy than FF13
2. Legend of Dragoon- Amazing game, simple as that.
3. Final Fantasy Tactics- Appeals to my tactical side.

Seeing The Damned's most recent post, I figured I would comment on my bard, Ulfric Stormcloak. I had figured Barren would have recognized the Elder Scrolls reference, but I guess this forum is filled mostly with JRPG players. That's it.

Thanks, Toshiko.  :D

Yeah no problem.
I suppose I would have lost the match anyway, so no hard feelings.

FFT Arena / Re: Non Tournament Battle videos

Hey Malroth I wouldn't mind that. Could you put my tournament team up against a team (don't care whos) so I can draw on where I went wrong?
109
Umm... Barren, I looked over the team draft I sent you and Tristan DID have Chakra. Please check your inbox, I was confused when I saw the video and you said I didn't have Chakra.

Pardon my accidental screw-up in part of the explanation. The dye shop was only for clothes, and additionally, you could also make a character portrait using one of the character creation tools.

I'd like to suggest some music:
Lost Odyssey's "A Mighty Enemy Appears"
And the game's Main Battle Theme, or "The Gun Barrel of Battle" as it's called.

Help! / Sprite Experimenting

I can't really do much of the actual editing for FFT, but I have a curiosity on a few things, this being one such thing:

If any of you have played any WRPGs lately (Western RPG) You'll know that pretty much all of them feature character creation. What I'm wondering is if you can do something similar to character creation. Now, before anyone starts to lecture me on how IMPOSSIBLE that would be, hear me out. What I mean is that I'm wondering if somehow one could make many slightly different sprites. To illustrate, I'll explain what I propose:

So, say I make 3 sprites. All are the same, except one has blond hair, one has brown hair, and the other has black hair. What I want to do is make it so that with these, you can have different character appearances and more complicated combinations are available. Is it possible to implement something right at the start of a patch, so that you can use sliders or something to do such a thing? If not, please explain why this is impossible, or if there would be another way to do such a thing.

If I'm lucky and it IS possible, please tell me how I can do such a thing, because that would be amazing. I dabbled in RPG Maker (a program that allows you to make a fairly advanced game, set character progression, events, and other cool things simply) and found a way to let the player change armor color using a dye shop, (I was playing it recently, and it occurred to me that I should ask you guys on here) and my brother told me it was great. Sorry if this just sounds stupid, but please, comment if you have any additional insights.

Lol Malroth. I suppose my team isn't a very good team, possibly due to the fact that I did zero testing. I think next time around I'll be more prepared. I'm not going down without a fight, though.  ;) (I also only took about a day to devise my team, so bad preparation + non-existent testing = Time to get stomped into the ground.) Still, good luck to everybody's teams, and I sure hope I at least get through a few rounds in the loser's bracket.

Good luck eternal and may the best team win.  :D

Event Editing / Re: Event Give Away!
July 16, 2014, 02:07:39 pm
Yeah, I just figured: Hmm... what do I want to do? The meeting of Balbanes and Orlandu, (I'll use vanilla names to the best of my ability) Beowulf and Reis' wedding, Delita's coronation? No, those don't feel right... I'll just put it on hold. Then, I was just watching some custom events and came across the Event with Delita and Ovelia. Then this popped into my head: What if Rama and Co. went forward in time. (I'd imagine that the last scene took place several years after the Final battle.)

So, I decided that maybe Rama and Agrias fell out of the loop in a location near to Zeltennia. Agrias, in my mind, would look to the ruins, as Ovelia spent a lot of time contemplating and whatnot there.
So, say that Delita said that he found Ovelia dead. (I wish I'd added mention to the flowers; they would have been a nice touch, at least in my mind.) I think that once Agrias discovered Ovelia, she'd be in shock (but I can understand the confusion on that matter.) and probably pay her respects.
And with the whole matter about Delita and Ramza, I had 2 things in mind:
1. Delita could have changed in the presumably five years or so (just an educated guess) and we all now that power changes someone.
2. Ramza's suspicion. This one is pretty much null and void without the flower thing, but let's be hypothetical here. In Ramza's mind: Why would an assassin bring flowers? And where do I recognize that knife? (As Ramza is treasurer for his group. And trainer. And fashion stylist. And guidance counselor.) And most importantly, how does said assassin know her favorite hangout AND the biggest of all: Who cared about Ovelia enough to bring her flowers? DELITA. ( This is, of course, assuming that Ramza has become Delita when it comes to mind games.)

Sorry for the beefy explanation, but that's the hypothetical idea in my mind. ( I realize this isn't Chrono Trigger, but there ARE Time Mages, so time travel? Maybe.) Anyway, that's it.

Tristan out.

EDIT: Also, Ramza IS a heretic, so Delita would possibly be obligated it run him through, and in a more unlikely turn, it could be similar to the Ser Aliste, and Delita would want to atone by letting Ramza kill him- but like I said, it's unlikely.

And sorry for all the edits, I wrote this on my mom's auto correcting abomination of a phone.

Okay, here's my idea:
The Camera sets on the Zeltennia Chapel Ruins.
We see Agrias kneeling beside the dead Ovelia.
Arias: Who did this?... and why?
Ramza walks into sight.
Ramza: Agrias...
Agrias: I failed her.
Ramza: Don't be so hard on yourself, there was nothing you could have done.
Agrias: But I -should- have! I was to be her Aegis, but when she needed me, I-
Ramza: Think! You may not have been able to save her, but you saved many others! I'm sure that's what she would have wanted.
Agrias: ... I hadn't thought about it that way.
Ramza: Well, we had best be go-
Delita walks up to the gate.
Agrias: Don't tell me you had a hand in this!
Delita: Shall I tell you that which you want to hear, or the truth?
Agrias: You swine!
Delita: The truth, then. You were right. It was your fault Ovelia died. She died of the same knife that you thought would 'protect her'.
Agrias: I'll kill you!
Delita looks at Ramza.
Delita: And you, Ramza?
Ramza: I thought you were my friend! Your injustice will be answered for!
Delita: Kill them!
2 knights come into view. Arias and Ramza fight Delita and his men, and win.
Delita gets on his knees.
Delita: Tietra... Ovelia... I'm coming...
Delita falls to the ground and dies.
Agrias leaves the scene.
Ramza stops and stares at Delita's body.
Ramza: To think it came to this...
Ramza leaves the scene.
