I'd done some testing for team concepts against an earlier version of AeroGPs team, so I knew how deadly they could be.  I have a feeling that Reks will go far in the underworld though  :)

Such an even pairing.  I usually dont talk that much, so I was running out of steam by the end.  Dont worry about the matchup, more tactics are always a good thing!

Match 23 - AeroGP vs Reks

Next match took me all day to get a rendering software to compile correctly and will take 7 hours to upload to youtube.  Sorry folks that wanted to see the next match soon

Let's create a randomly-generated team!

I sent a RNG chosen team to CT5Holy the other day.  Name/Gender/Job/2nd/r/s/m all randomized.  It wont be strong, but I think they would be amusing to watch.

I'd still rather have the late submission team as the 48th though.

*Edit* Although there is a minimum of byes in this bracket format, a semifinal bye seems a bit much.

Sounds more than fair.

My sound card decided to switch settings on its own and create some unhappy pops in these videos.  I wiped the mic sound completely from the first video (just music), but I dont think it was bad enough in the others to necessitate that.  I apologize in advance.  Fair warning, there might be a few pops here and there in the rest of them.  The problem has been corrected for future videos.

FFT Arena Scrim - FDC (Heresy) vs Angelus

FFT Arena Scrim - Dacheat vs Mucus part 1 & part 2

FFT Arena Scrim - Dynablade vs Barren (Big Assault) part 1 & part 2

FFT Arena Scrim - Im BQB vs CT5Holy (Axe Funsies)

Barren/Dol: I am so sorry for those two matches. Those had to be painful to commentate. I definitely need to revamp my team.

Dont sweat it.  Arena teams very rarely work out the way you would think on the first try, especially if you are new to the Arena patch.  I'm going to try and coordinate with Barren in the future to make sure that we arent doing the exact same matchups on test videos.  Variety is the spice of life after all :)

Continue to tweak out your teams.  I'm going to try and do a few matches a day from now until the tourney registration ends to help out.  No promises of course, but I'll try!

New scrim vids:

FFT Arena Scrim:  FriskyDingo vs Mucus

FFT Arena Scrim:  Dacheat vs ImBQB part 1 & part 2

FFT Arena Scrim:  Reks (Magical Melodies) vs Angelus part 1 & Part 2

Did best of 3s today.  Split into parts until the time limit on youtube is removed for this channel.  The tourney wont have that issue of course  :D

I have a feeling people after the 32 line aren't going to be able to participate, but might as well try.

36) iamBQB

Usually what happens with tourneys is a flood of teams in on the last day or two.  It wouldnt surprise me if we exceed 64 again like the last tourney.  :)  Regardless, welcome to all the newcomers and best of luck to you in the tourney.  If you want your teams tested before the tourney, be sure to post them in the team submission thread and someone should be able to get some practice matches in for you (to a point of course.  The sooner submitted, the more likely that becomes!)

Scrim videos:

FFT Arena Scrim: Barren vs Vigilanti

FFT Arena Scrim: Eternal vs Shadowstrike

FFT Arena Scrim: Lief vs Dynablade

FFT Arena Scrim: FDC vs SSM

FFT Arena Scrim: Fnatic vs DomieV

New youtube account I made for Arena matches.  Still has the time limit, so most of these are just a best of 1.

On a side note, I could use a good source of 8 bit music if anyone wants to PM me a site.  :)

and wait also, i thought unit 1 would be the closest to the enemy? Do I have to flip it around? Because that's probably a part of it too, the damn formation is wrong

Its based on tile Height.  Depends on the map, but i think unit 2 actually is closer on more than half the maps.  I could be wrong though...

Oh, I misunderstood the purpose of this thread. I thought it was for constructive criticism and brainstorming of possible future rule changes in response to the exhibitions that are going on right now, as well as the comments and predictions concering how issues will effect the future tournament. But I understand this topic is actually for complaints about why we lost? Okay, I'm cool with that.

In that case, I would like to complain about the reason I lost this recent tournament: Maps. When I played my first match against whoever that will be, I was placed on a map that put me at a disadvantage. The map's chokepoint left me vulnerable to AoE attacks. And if my opponent doesn't use AoE, or the map doesn't have a chokepoint, then it was the lack of a chokepoint that did me in. Also the height difference. One side of the map was clearly higher than the other, and either my opponent was raining death from above upon me, or else I was trapped on a narrow ledge while my opponent dominated the low valley. And if the map was perfectly symmetrical, then my opponent was unfairly able to harness the fairness of the map to beat me.

Further, I would like to complain that Damage is too overpowered. Too many teams win games because they are better able to reduce the other team's HP to 0. When is the last time we had a team that won by inflicting Vampire on everyone, or by Inviting everyone, or by crystalizing Ramza. Clearly the current rules favor death by damage. This has led to our current Semi-Paper/Rock/Scissors  setup up, being that teams that win by reducing HPs to 0 are Granite, and teams that  rely on Petrify/Vampire/Invite/Ramza/DEB are plastic kindergarten scissors. Also, there is no paper in this example.

I propose we need more paper.

I am scissors.  Paper is fine, nerf rock.
