Completed Mods / Re: War of the Lions Tweak v2....
Last post by Blade12 - Yesterday at 11:23:03 pm
Yo my dude love the mod, just a quick question: I wanted to edit my Ramza job name/description etc, in the FFTacText with the FFTpatcher (recent version).

It won't open the game ISO after I patched it with your Tweaks patch and the optional patches I used: A2 magic and Undead, it gives me this error/window pop up when I try to open it in the fftactext editor

"Error loading file: Value does not fall within the expectant range"

I open a previous backup fftext file from a previous unpatched/modded vanilla version I had before and patched a test patched/modded game iso backup of it and it opens fine but reverts the text back to vanilla wotl with some funny text results but I don't want that haha.

Just wondering what the fix is to open the patched/modded original copy as I am simply editing Ramza's job name/description etc, which you named to Cadet but I wanted to change it to my tastes.

-Also came across another game breaking issue when it comes to the FFTPatcher: After I patch the unpatched game ISO with your tweak patch, I can edit sprites and it doesn't break the game everything runs fine.

However, when I edit classes in the FFTPatcher to whatever I need lets say I wanna add Crush Armor ability to Ramza's Cadet class, I save the patch onto the ISO and when I reboot the game, the Cadet class is changed back to Squire but it messes up the text for items with random letters/numbers. My guess is I cannot edit what you have done on the patch and it simply breaks text, etc. Which is a shame as I do want to play this mod but I can't if adding in game abilities to Ramza's class breaks the game. -

The mod on its own works well even if you change sprites but editing classes or trying to edit job names is impossible unfortunately.

If you don't have an answer for a solution to this problem I am having, that is fine, I will play vanilla as it all works there which is good but it does get boring though playing vanilla.

Thanks for looking at my issue, if you wanna personal message on this feel free, I am pretty active.

Thanks for your time for reading my issue.

Tutorials and Learning / Re: Editing Brave Story Bio En...
Last post by VineCM - Yesterday at 09:22:53 pm
Quote from: DarthFutuza on November 26, 2019, 02:14:44 pm6) Setup the event..  Open up EasyVent Editor Super Perfect 2.0 and load up one of the game's default events that would appropriate to stick your character in.  As an example, instead of using just a new character, I'm going to both edit Mel's brave entry and add a new one for the new character.  So, I'll be picking #448 (Hall of St. Murond Temple Vormav and Meliadoul talk) as my event to edit.  Make whatever changes to the event you need to (see other tutorials for help with that), and then at the end before the dialogue part starts, and just before the last EventEnd() cmd happens, I'll add the following.
//increase Mel's bravestory entry by 1
ADD(x03ED,x0001)

//set our bravestory entry for our new character to 1
ZERO(x03FC)
ADD(x03FC,x001)
This will first, increase Mel's bravestory one more time, so that she can stop having daddy issues in her bravestory bio.  Then it will first set the variable for our new character to 0 (we do this just in case it wasn't already 0, because it hasn't ever been initialized there's no guarantee it isn't some random number) using the ZERO cmd, then we add 1 to it, to set it to 1.  This will activate our brave story entry for the new character.  (Just a reminder, we used x03FC because that was what slot picked in step 1 for our new character, and Mel's is 03ED).

7) Apply the patch.  Alright that's pretty much it, you made it through.  Go ahead and compile and save your event, then apply it like you would any other event and patch your iso with the new event.  Then go ahead and load up the game and test it to see if it works.  Good luck!

Let me know if I've gotten anything wrong, or need to make any corrections and I'll be happy to update the tutorial.  Hope it helps someone.

Is it possible to add a new character bio from the beginning of the game? just like Darlavon has been there in "Personae" since the beginning. (PSP version)
Is there any way to put the bio without having to add it to an event?

Spriting / Re: Portrait and Formation Scr...

Quote from: Khatmar on Yesterday at 01:40:30 pmHello, this is one of my first posts. Basically, I tried replacing Cloud with the custom Advent Children sprite that is available on hackticks and I even followed Celdias guide on spriting (this one here) but whatever I do, the changes I made just do not appear in game. I can get the battle sprite to change, but not the portrait and neither the formation screen sprite. They are always vanilla.

I even checked the ISO with other viewers (and other Shishi versions) and the portrait and formation screen sprite both appear to what I changed them to (but not in game).

Is it... save incompatible? Do I have to start a new game for the new sprite to show up? That doesnt make logical sense (but stranger things have happened). Could someone please help me out? Any assistance would be much appreciated.

No, that's not it. Can you show us screenshots of each of the three files after you've imported them?

FFTA/FFTA2 Hacking / Re: Change Initial Black Mage ...

Are you using the encounter editor to change the units in that fight? Or are you using the recruitable character Nightmare Module to change the units that join your party? I'm not 100% sure but I think if you do the latter and alter the recruitable units but don't change the units in that encounter, it'll play the tutorial out as normal but then replace the recruits with the ones you chose afterward.

EDIT: Never mind, it looks like the module I'm suggesting can't change their races at all, just their loadouts.

You can just get the sprite from an unmodded version of vanilla FFT.

If you overwrote your only copy of it, consider this a valuable lesson learned at no real cost - get yourself another copy and make sure you always keep backups going forward.

Help! / I accidently overwritten Delit...
Last post by Blade12 - May 20, 2024, 02:43:55 pm
Hey just got into hacking or modding FFT, while changing sprites on Ramza to Ramza merc sprite, I accidently overwritten Delita's ch 2/3 sprite in the shishi editor thingy with the Ramza merc sprite. I tried downloading the original DILY02 from the resources section in the sprites section where it shows the story mode character sprites on the main site here at hacktics but it does nothing and cannot revert to original.

Does any have a backup sprite and bmp I can use to revert him to his original story/battle sprite as I don't wanna have two Ramza merc sprite on the battlefield during those story missions were he joins as guest and is a playable character for one battle.

Delita's ch 1 and ch 4 sprite are still in their original state, so no worries there just his ch 2/3 i mucked up due newbie error.

FFTA/FFTA2 Hacking / Change Initial Black Mage on F...

Hello! I'm using the Nightmare module to change the default party in FFTA2. I want to make a Viera only run + Luso, but I have a problem: in the tutorial i'm obligated to use Fire with the Black Mage, and Black Mage isn't a Viera Jobs. I tried using the Red Mage with Fire learned, but nothing has worked.

I already change all the party member except that **** Nu Mou, so if someone can help me with this, i could be happy again jajaja.

Thank You, and sorry if you didn't understand something, English is'nt my first Language.
