it's really weird that float doesn't affect earth element weapons, since negating earth element is pretty much the entire point of it's existance...come to think of it, were there ANY earth elemental weapons in vanilla FFT? I don't think so, so this may be just a case of lazy programing.

Ah, thanks for adding the Zodiac chart. It's such a pain in the ass to try to remember those things off top of one's head and having to repeatedly open a document in Notepad to check isn't much better.

Heh, yeah.

I'm pretty sure there aren't, especially since I went out of my way to add some, hence my (vaguely remembered) surprise at Octagon Rod smacking people. There wasn't really much elemental stuff in general in vanilla, especially since you can still see this in the 1.3 build where there only three or four things that got changed elementally (most notably Black Costume).

Off the top of my head, there were a few elemental weapons, but most late-game stuff:

• The 3 spell guns. [Fire, Ice and Lightning]
• The 3 elemental longbows. [Lightning, Ice and Wind]
• The 3 elemental rods (that hardly count as weapons). [Fire, Ice and Lightning]
• Coral Sword. [Lightning]
• Excalibur. [Holy? Or did it just Strengthen: Holy? I've had it changed for so long....]
• Flame Whip [Fire]
• Air Knife [Wind]
• Holy Lance [Holy]

I think Excalibur wasn't Holy and while I may be forgetting a few weapons, that was about the gist of it since all the other categories were kind of "bone-dry" in that regard. Definitely no Earth-weapons though, especially since I always remember finding it funny that the only way to constantly use Wind in the game was to use either Air Knife or Windslash Bow, which were both sub-par compared to the other broken-ness.

But enough about that. I'll make a different team some time tomorrow to "celebrate" this since now we know that Cover Fire works and Last Song doesn't seem broken or even OP (at the moment).

aw damn, when i got around to it i was gonna abuse the hell out of gastrafitis/earth slash/earth clothes. I guess skip sort of beat me to it.

some very odd, interesting videos, pride.
1) no counter magic triggered at my samus (or is ultima not supposed to trigger them?). Perhaps you might have missed the change I made, unless I forgot to actually edit the post.
2) it seems lancers don't take into account "haste" status when jumping, thus resulting in misses (at video 2, he was not even dodging ultima, he was simply missing a jump)
3) the ai sure does know how to bait magic then jump lol. It is proven that the ai does not check for possible enemy actions, clearly.
4) speed save might have contributed to the above.
5)  ultima is quite strong, and I was unaware faith didn't affect it. I was also unaware we could already use serpentarius. I was about to test ultima in my Elemental team...

Ultima is unaffected by counter magic. I was wondering if you were just that unlucky but I checked the abilities thread and it says it doesn't trigger counter magic. Serpentarius was just unbanned so I thought i would take advantage of that and test it out. I thought aoe that is ignores faith and zodiac was too tempting to pass up. And lol yeah, Ultima was almost as advantageous as it was dangerous.
