Portraits into Sprites

I've never found this information ... how do you put portraits into the sprite .BMP? I tried, but then the palette is all messed up in the portrait. =(

Anyway. what I do, Lyndyn, is copy the portrait into a new file. Rotate it. Convert to the correct palette. Make changes. Convert back into the original palette. rotate back into place. Copy & paste back into the BMP. Save. Done.
