Is it a good or a bad thing though? ._.

Nice necrobump. And I don't get what you mean by "workable". You could technically use any of the faces in the EVTFACE.bin file if you set the x-- coordinates for them when you're modifying events and the WLDFACE and UNIT bins contain all the default formation/Brave Story portraits/sprites that you can access in FFTEVGRP. For that matter, you can also access EVTFACE.bin in the JP Tools version of FFTEVGRP.

New Project Ideas / Re: Romantic patch anyone?

No, I haven't ._. The only reason I used the word is because I knew what it meant and I thought maybe other people would too...I don't even know. I don't use tumblr either so I don't know any of these things Dx

Here's a concept of what I'm working on right now.
Thoughts?

What she said. I suppose I could have said/used another word, but I used it to fit the tone...I guess?

Welp, I guess it's gonna be Meliadoul! Guess I better get to event editing (and figure out how to add new events to the worldmap)

Shield Bash formula? Is it possible?
Like, requires shield, gives 100% knockback, and can inflict status (remove charging/performing)

No, sounds worse to my ear. Like if you didn't pronounce the 'a' in Xifanie's name; it's too sharp, needs an interjection. Dice-a-darg.

I always prounounced it this way as well ._.

Seems like taking older European names, voicing all possible consonants in their Japanese form, and converting back by interpreting weak vowels as "a" wherever possible generates some OK names.

Alfred -> アルフレッド -> アルブレッド -> Albrad
Harold -> ハラルド -> バラルド -> Barald

I like those two, but the Beoulves all seem to have a different consonant for their first names:
Alma/Dycedarg/Zalbag/Ramza/Balbanes.

Non-FFT Modding / Re: Tactics Ogre modding

I'll go in there and put the right names in then, I'm very familiar with TO and I can get the translations if I don't know them by simply loading up the JP rom and comparing vs the English ROM or PSX iso (which with the gameshark codes we might be able to come up with something as well). This just might be a big breakthrough though, if this gets completely translated we may be looking at viable English tools for editing the game (and a Tactics Ogre modding section, finally)

Shouldn't be. since using battle debug you can actually see ??? status. And everything in the status except the equipment/skills are ???

Yeah it does seem like it. I've heard the people on there basically saying that those interfaces are untranslatable/unusable. If you've found a way to translate them, that's great! We might be able to start some piecemeal hacks for TO of our own (There's a fully functional hack out there already, but it's entirely in Japanese) The reason it might load different values I think is because of the fact that they had to change alot of space for the translation; they basically ripped the text straight from the PSX version and inserted it into the SNES version. I don't think that the two versions should be inherently different as far as the classes/abilities/weapons etc go.

(EDIT: Not to mention they had to shorten a lot of the full text for the English version because of character restraints)
If you or anyone else need a reference for what the various things are called, there's a good website for that here:

I'm just saying if you're gonna have those bumps either don't have them on those first couple or put them on the rest because little tiny pixel things like that can be very distracting. Otherwise, it looks pretty good!

My advice would be to come on Mibbit periodically and join the IRC, work at it alot, get as much help as you can once you start putting out real progress, and more importantly keep updating your work.

Well I feel like if I just come up with a random name for him that it will seem a bit shoehorned
Although just having his name be DEB is a bit too comical
I won't be making any horrible, unnecessary portmanteaus but at the same time I want him to have a decent name.
Elizar?
Elijah?
they all have the consant-a in their name
ramZA, alMA, dyceDArg, zalBAg, balBAnes, eliZAr

Hmmm. Are those little bumps on the right pauldron intentional? I don't see them on most of the other frames.

That sounds like a drag name though ._.
Unless you think that's the kinda guy he is xD

It makes no sense. Especially with the videos being the way they are...eh, it's probably all compressed within the ISO itself
59
Well, you're gonna want to have each pose be basically the same as the pose you're trying to replace, just with that new sprite. So that's when you're gonna have to do a bit of sprite work yourself, unless you can find someone who's willing to help you replace those EVTCHR frames. A lasso tool is something in graphics editing programs that you can use to make a free-selection of pixels around a selected object. It's better than say a box or circular selection because it's more accurate. And yeah, there really isn't any guarantee that people will help you with the spriting, but it's at least worth a try :) My recommendation would be to look around in the Spriting section for tutorials, you're bound to find what you're looking for.

Yeah no, the blue shows up wayyyy too strongly and it just looks mismatched and...wrong. I suppose it could shift from a light blue into like a whitish color, but that still might be stretching it.

And no yeah I highly suspected that would be the case. You would have to remove so much for it to even be viable. I don't even really think you could do that on the PSP unless it was added the way the Onion Knight/Dark Knight were, but even then the PSP iso is actually smaller in size than the PSX iso if I remember correctly (At least it is when compressed)
