Does it still require a EUR iso?
2
How do you get an ISO to run on your PSP? It always says "corrupted data."

EDIT: It looks like I got it. Just had to make a separate folder called "ISO."
3
Just to clarify, here's what I'm supposed to do?

-Obtain a EUR ISO for WotL
-Patch it with PPFomatic
-Use popstation to convert the patched ISO to an eboot file

Is this correct? I think my problem may lie with popstation. When using this program, do I need to click on "Change Game Save and Game ID?" If I don't, then I get an error message recommending I use a BIN+CUE or IMG+CCD. Then it says the game ID is invalid. To prevent that message, I just have to assign it a game ID by clicking the aforementioned button, but there is no corresponding ID for WotL to choose from. It only gives me PSX game IDs. I tried using the PSX FFT game ID, and this allows the conversion to actually complete, but then the game doesn't work.

6.60 pro-B10.

It may not be converting to an eboot correctly. I've never had so much trouble doing it before.

After multiple attempts, I can't get this to work. I have a EUR ISO, patched it with PPFomatic, and tried to convert to an eboot with popstation. But all I get is a black screen.

I tried out the slowdown fix and the unstretch patches on the PSN version and they both seem to work just fine.  :)

However, with the unstretch patch, it's so damn hard to see anything anymore >_<. I noticed that the new resolution doesn't utilize as much of the screen as it potentially could. There is still space to increase the resolution without stretching everything out. Would it be possible to do this?

Does this patch work with the PSN version?

Usually if a patch uses heavy ASM, it's unplayable on anything but ePSXe. What didn't you like about ePSXe? It's fairly customizeable.

From what I remember, I had a good deal of trouble getting everything to work properly, from graphics to sound to game speed. I may give it another shot since it seems to be the only option.

Well you can play CoP  I've beaten that on a console a few times so you shouldn't have any issues,
Also I may be incorrect, but I believe you can play FFT: Complete on a console as well

Okay thanks, I'll take a look at those.

Are there any patches here that don't use ASM? Last time I used ePSXe about a year ago, I remember being pretty disappointed with it.

EDIT: Also, does a PS3 with CFW have this same problem with ASM?

Hmm well I updated to the newest cfw my psp 3001 can run, and still nothing. I don't think I can downgrade to anything that would let me use m33-6. So what exactly is ASM?

Is there any reason why this patch would not work properly on a PSP? I patched a clean ISO, then used popstation to convert it to an Eboot file. Everything ran smoothly on my psp until I tried to change classes. Everytime the game hangs for about 10 seconds then my PSP shuts off.

Help! / Game keeps freezing...
January 22, 2012, 05:51:55 am
Here's my problem:

I started with a clean ISO. I patched it with Laggy's LFT+WotL Translation patch. Then I edited some of the sprites. I used popstation to convert it into an Eboot file and started a new game on my PSP. Everything played just fine, new sprites included, until I tried to change jobs. Now, everytime I attempt to change any character's job, the game hangs for about 10 seconds, then my PSP just shuts off. Wtf would be causing this exactly?

EDIT: I just applied the same patch to a vanilla rom but this time did NOT edit any sprites myself. Same thing happened >_<.

EDIT2: Just tried with a completely vanilla iso. Problem gone. Must be the patch...

I was just coming back to edit that post :P. It must have been a previously patched ISO I was using.

I downloaded the LFT+Translation patch, and so far I've noticed a few bugs. The customized introduction titles for each patch overlap. Ramza's name is Chain Vest by default. And the birthday choosing screen is completely screwed up. You can't tell what you're selecting.

Spriting / Re: Bignickm27's Sprites

Very nice. Is there a bmp of that sprite w/out the mask somewhere?

Here's a random recolor of Misty I've been messing around with. I made her strawberry blonde and recolored her clothes. Let me know what you guys think.

Oh sweet. So the tutorial here http://ffhacktics.com/tutorials.php?id=2 must be pretty outdated then. =X

EDIT: One more thing. For characters who have multiple instances of their same sprite in game (like Agrias), you would have to change all of them correct? For example, there are two in-game Agrias sprites at 1D and 33. I'd have to change both of those to the new custom sprite right?

On the other hand, say you wanted to replace Meliadoul's sprite with the Meliadoul unmasked custom sprite, but only once she joins you. You would leave 2E (Meliadoul Enemy) alone and just alter 29 (Meliadoul Join)?
18
Okay I've been reading and watching tutorials about using custom sprites and I think I've got most of it down. I do have a question about shishi though. When you import a bmp or spr into shishi, does that immediately alter the iso itself? And if so, what exactly does it change in-game if I were to import a custom sprite in place of Ramza 1 using shishi?

I'm asking this because in order to change the battle sprite, you have to import them into the Battle folder with CDmage. And to change the formation/pre-battle sprite, you have to edit the unit, wldface, and wldface4 bin files in CDmage. So does using shishi really alter anything in the game or is it simple an external sprite editor?
19
Okay thank you. I'm a little confused about how to replace in-battle sprites. I read the short tutorial on this site. It says to open the SPR file you want to replace with shishi. But Shishi won't let me open individual SPR files. It only lets me open the ISO itself. The only option available from the file tab is FILE>Open ISO.

Also, if I shouldn't be asking about this in this thread, please let me know. Thanks!

When you import custom sprites into an iso, does it have to be a clean iso or can it be a patched version?
