FFV Mod Help

Hello all,

I've spent the last few months, tinkering with FFTA2. Creating my own jobs, editing a few bad abilities, and my favorite part, fully revamping Blue Mage. (If anyone is interested, let me know)

Now that I beat FFTA2, I was thinking to myself "what is another FF with Blue Mage that I can edit" and I remembered FFV. Started to do some research to see if I could find some GUIs like the amazing ones we have here. I didn't find many tutorials or resources but I did find 2 tools. The first by samurai goroh gives me an error anytime I change anything about any spell. The other is a web based program that seems to work but I can't find any info on what the undefined hexes do to change, say Lvl2Old into say a damage spell or something entirely different.

I guess the TLDR version is can anyone help or point me in the right direction to mod FFV (or even better Advance) without having to fully learn hexidecimal?

Now youve fully learned hexidecimal

(I know nothing of modding ff5)

Wow, read the brief if you're going to be intentionally unhelpful. I asked for help modding FFV specifically without learning about hex.
It's like asking "hey, can you help me understand this line from Shakespeare? Its in old English" And then you start singing your ABCs and stopping at H, claiming you finished.

You're better off asking at romhacking.net or ff6hacking.com.

I think the web-based editor for FF6 found on ff6hacking.com can also edit FF5. Ask there.

As for hexadecimal, it's not a programming language but an alternative numbering system developed for computer related things. If you've done trigonometry before, then you've encountered something similar in degrees versus radians - same thing, just different ways of representing it since it's easier to manipulate numbers in various ways with one or the other.

I think Windows calculator has a programming mode, you could play around with it or mess with gameshark codes for stuff like Max HP to see how hexadecimal translates into decimal and vice versa.

You can also look up things like "hexadecimal tutorial" in youtube if video is your preferred format. If you do you should also watch a few videos on "binary number system" as well as whatever comes up for the search terms "bits and bytes"

Weird of you to get that agitated because someone made a silly joke about learning hex.

You're asking this question on a forum that has nothing at all to do with FFV modding. The odds of getting a serious, useful answer that isn't just "go to a place that actually features FFV modding" is fairly low. A bit of harmless levity isn't exactly going to derail some sort of major breakthrough being discussed.
