Help! / EVESP2.1 - Where do I start?

Hey fellas, I feel like a dummy for asking, but how do you get the events loaded into the application? It's been a long time since ive dabbled with this, Ive accessed the events through cdmage, but I cant seem to recall what to do from here.

Help! / Executing ability- change animation? - solved

I have made a ranged attack ability. No matter what parameter I change the ability seems to always be executed with a punching motion. Is it even possible to change it to the charging sprite? Am I overlooking a parameter somewhere? (Ive set parameters in the animation tab and the action group tab to mimic "charge" to no success.)

Help! / Modding new characters

I like alot of the custom sprites listed here. I have a couple of questions before I actually begin integrating them.

1. Will the game accept new characters from scratch or do you have to change perameters of existing characters? (I once tried making a new skillset and the text editor wasnt having it.)

2. What tools do you use to make custom sprites? I want to make sprites of characters from other games and drop them throughout the storyline to join party. I see the image needs to be a specific filetype, My fiddlings in mspaint had odd turnouts.

Greetings, all!

I am wanting to change some stuff around in a save editor, running PSX version of FFT through ePSXe205.
I cracked the MCR file open with memcardrex. Issue is it doesnt seem to support the exportation of the filetype FFTastic is looking for (.GME)

Is there some utility I can use to convert the filetype?

I used to hack and mod the PSP version all the time, (made really cool stuff happen with that patcher!) but I dont remember running into this kind of problem back then. I'm not looking to do anything terribly fancy with this one, I really just want to change a couple of characters in my formation and add a few items to inventory in the very beginning of the game.

I havent been changing any sprites around, and i've not been modding any of the events (the ones that require coding)
I have, however, been playing around with the patcher. Primarily damage values and formulas, but I also changed up the bard job class.

When I test run the game though, ive found at some point the story characters are replaced with random sprites from within the event. the 2nd battle, delita appears as a female squire every time. the battle in sweegy woods, algus and delita both appear as goblins. the battle after that, algus and delita both take on the sprite of the character who interrogated that knight. (I can't recall details on that one.)  however the ENTD is exactly as it should be for those events.

I've also noticed the text editor isn't working anymore. the progress form says 0 bytes left on DTE and a message states the ISO has NOT been modified.

Do I need to get a fresh ISO and start from scratch here?

Help! / AI Behavior - can battle tactics be adjusted?

I have changed the "bard" to have different attacks in his skillset. Pretty much 6 abilities. They do no damage, just inflicts status effects. The AI tends to use only one. While everything works correctly,  it makes a kind of boring opponent to only do the "stop" status instead of the wide array of possibilities. Is there anything I csn do about this

Help! / FFT patcher errors with skillsets??

I have modified the "calculator" job as it's hardly used.
I found the calculator attacks couldn't be modified so well in the patcher, so I found some blanks at the end of the list of abilities (just under "parasite") I gave these abilities new names in the text editor, descriptions, status inflictions, ect.

my problem is the following:
I wanted to install "counter" and "mp switch" as the support and reaction abilities. when I do, it just places "mp switch" in both slots, the characters do counter-strike, but the mp shield tends to only absorb damage *some* of the time..

also, when I get a playable character, the abilities button is greyed out. It says I haven't learned any battle combos or something to that effect. I set the abilities to 100% chance to learn with 0 jp cost.

Should I just grab some already-existing abilities and change those around? I need 5 that I won't encounter from another job class in the campaign. I wanted to change the calculator's job commands, but the patcher wouldn't let me change very much with those.

Help! / shishi sprite editor question

I used shishi sprite editor, it asked me to restructure, I did. I replaced the "ovelia" sprite with one of the customs I found on here. When I start a new game, the orbonne prayer still has the vanilla ovelia. It was my understanding shishi updated your image automatically. was there a step I missed?

I dont have the means to make any sprites myself, all I have is a laptop with the embedded mousepad. Drawing seems impossible.
I have 4 sprites I need for event characters. Everything else I downloaded here already.
Is anyone up to it? Even just one?

I need a different approach to understanding event scripting.  Can someone build a script with 3 people standing around making small talk, someone teleport in, walk to the crowd, teleport out, just tricks like that?

I have made myself somewhat familiar (I think) with the syntax of the game's code.
My problem is, the difference between setup and the event itself.
I have changed the map of the orbonne prayer, some characters and speech. However nothing in the setup section made any remote sense, so I left it alone.
My test run at orbonne was really screwy.
I had chosen the map with the docked ship, and the script was still running a conversation with agrias and ovelia, although they were not present on the map.

While the tutorial was very helpful, there are still some gaps that I am unsure of handling with trial and error.
Second question, to update every event, do I need to use the test.evt file every time, for each event?

Help! / Edit sprite interaction in cutscenes?

I am planning to completely overhaul the WOTL for psp entirely.
I have plans to change the story, if possible, and the cutscenes as well. (Like when ramza uses that blade of grass as a whistle, or when we see the flower girl)
So if its possible how is it done?

War of the Lions Hacking / storyline edit

If I wanted to edit the storyline a little in-game, (WoTL) would one of you kindly direct me on how to do so?

I'm trying to change up some characters, character names, and in-battle speech at different points in the already existing storyline. Not a major overhaul, just a couple of skirmishes here and there.

Also I'd like to introduce a couple new characters into the game. (want to use custom sprites, so i'd rather make new characters than paste a new sprite over an already existing character somewhere in the story, like mustadio for example)


I already have a text editor (which so far has never worked for me) a patcher which I use often, and the sprite editor which I also have used before.

If two players with PSPs, (WoTL) battled each other, one having a modded ISO and the other being unmodded, would it crash the game? what would happen?

Help! / WOTL modding questions, sprites & text, ect.

First of all I'm in the middle of modding WOTL. Shishi sprite editor only seems to change inbattle sprites. To change up prebattle and formation sprites, (which I have the program to do) I can't seem to find the BIN files needed to make those changes. I'm assuming I need some kind of decompiler?

Text editor gives me an error message on BOOT.BIN5, something about a DTE.

Will I need a hexeditor?
Can I add a job class to be playable?
Can I add more unique characters? (ex. orlandeu or cloud)

mm. So many questions. My long term goal is to make my own patch, like a modified storyline. More challenging battles. ect.

I'm not even sure how to use this program. I'm assuming I start with "decrypt ISO?"
when I try to do that, no ISO's show up on PSP. On further investigation, the filetype of the game is CSO.  same with the text editor.  anyone have any suggestions?

I was wondering if there was any way to modify some attacks and associated effects.
To be more specific, I want an attack to be added to worker 8, to make an enemy convert to "traitor status" without damage. whether or not this enemy is humanoid or animal. I would name this move "assimilate" or something like that. I have ninjas capable of poach and speechcraft, but these are unreliable.

If this is possible, and someone's willing to help, I thank you in advance.
