The first one is the female. She was pretty simple since she's mostly a palette swap with some little details and tweaks added.

And then we have the male. He was more difficult to put together. He has the Knight's hair, the Squire's body and arms, and the new shoulder armor was graciously donated by Delita's Holy Knight sprite. I added details to make him look more like the FF1 Warrior job. After I complete my next sprite I may go back and add in the Monk's arms since the original Warrior had bare arms and bracers rather than sleeves.

Updated to final version. Hair is now blonde like the portrait.
kewl i'll have to add them somewhere, now if i had time to work on my megaman sprite....
I likey, but alas my problem still persists!
Thanks, guys. =)
@Kenshin: Hope a solution pops up for you soon. I wish I could be more helpful.
Anyway, I already found an error with the male. The file's too big to fit in the Squire's spot so I'm fixing it right now. Seems that after the 3rd row of arms on the bottom half I started going 'outside the lines'.
I think I've found my new Rad! The warrior is quite a piece of art, well done!
Thanks! =)
I'm also going to release the spiky-haired one that's too big to fit in the squire later on. That one has more of a custom look. Check it out:
These sprites look awesome... can someone give me a refresher on how to insert them into the game?
I definitely like the spikey haired version more of the male warrior. Are you still thinking about doing something about the headband so that he doesn't look so much like a monk?
Not really. But it's 'open source' so if you want to mess with it go ahead. No credit needed! =)
The only reason I'm not using it is the file size. I want it to replace the Squire. Although, thinking about it, I may end up giving it to Rad as a special.
Actually I was thinking of giving Ramza 1, Delita 1, and Algus the new warrior uniform. Whatever! You guys are free to use them as you please.

Do you have CD Mage or a similar program? Use it to open your FFT image and go into the folder that contains all the sprites (I think its the Battle Folder). Then just import the file (it must be in .spr form btw).
SHIN SHORYUU-BUMP!!!!!
Hey, guys! Just updated my femme fatale. She had some rather nasty errors in her skirt rim that I patched up. Enjoy the new improved (and hopefully final) Female Warrior! =)
@Zodiac: Feel free to update the one on the site, 'k?
Updated Male Warrior to final version.
Updating Spiky Warrior:
He now fits perfectly into the Squire sprite. The only thing missing is a new portrait. I'll get it up eventually.
Come on Vanya, where the png previews at
.
I'll get to that.
Here you go. They both fit perfectly into the male squire sprite.

Very cool. Such a versatile sprite.
Truly a faithful recreation of the 8-Bit sprite, certainly excellent work.
Spiky Haired Warrior v1.0!

Do you guy's think it would look better with lighter hair?
Lighter hair might be better, it just also changes the color of the gloves. The portrait looks god.
LOL! The portrait IS GOD!!! Mwahahaha!!!!!
I can make the hair lighter without messing with the gloves. How light should I go? I can make him have light brown like the previous one. Or I can go nearly blonde.
I would say go around the same color as the non spiky haired warrior =P
Don't forget that you can have different hair colors on different palettes too. So why not try a few different combinations and show them off
.
I could do that, but I think I'll have to change the hands to skin-tone so that I can change the hair independently. I'll post the various colors. Later.
Fuck! I just tore out my keyboard tray!! Damn. Now I'm gonna have to fix it. >|P
how are those Generic holy knights that i saw a while back, you know the ones with the knight cape and deleta's armor but blue in front?
I'm gonna finish those next week. I just wanted to perfect the Spiky haired Warrior M. Speaking of which this should be the final version:

looks great btw, maybe darken the portrait hair just a little.
I decided to go back to one shade darker hair. Made the portrait match the sprite's palette better, too. Here it is:

vanya... how do you do it? the arms, the patience... lol.... your work obviously deals with arms..
im glad you are here, i like your sprites.
Well thanks a lot. I appreciate it. =)
I haven't really had any issues with the arms so far because I've been working with sprites of the same types, I guess.
When I started working on these guys, for example, I took Delita's shoulders and just positioned them over the Squire's. I never moved the Squire's arms around so they were perfectly in position.
It takes more trial and error if you're importing arms to a new sprite. But, if you paste the new ones on the old ones and then delete the extra pixels it should go smoothly.
Your sprites are great too, ya know? I've always been very impressed with your skill at adapting characters from other games into the FFT format. The consistency of your style is impeccable! =)
thanks
look what i was able to do using your warrior sprite, do you recognize this character? i cut 2 pixels off the legs to make him shorter since hes supposed to be a kid
:O
Awesome Teepo there.
And btw just from the protrait Miang looks fucking cute. Too bad I can't see her in action or in shishi. :/
thank you
, she looks heavily armored so i might make a version of her without the shawl too.
Wait, Teepo isn't a guy?
yeah teepo is a guy,
i was talking about the miang sprite. sorry i guess i sorta ran the two subjects together in my last post lol.
I like that teepo, but I love that my warrior was useful for more! =)
New portrait for my spiky haired warrior:
hey that looks really good
Thanks! =)
I wasn't satisfied with the previous one. This should be the final version, unless anyone finds anything wrong with it.
Feedback is appreciated!
I can use that potrait for the squire in the first battle.
The old face looked too much like a monk, but the new one has a different look which makes it MUCH better.
You're pretty damn good, Vanya.
Thanks!
New portrait looks good. Nice work as always.
Cool. I'll be submitting him to the main site soon.
