the psx version?
you have to save it into another already existing sprite, (probably best to save it over a character that has a duplicate sprite.

zozma isnt it practically the same thing? you just need to use Cdmage and put the sprites in the battle folder but you must replace another sprite. well i may be wrong

The BATTLE folder does not appear if you view the psp ISO using CD mage
and it can only be viewed by extracting fftpack.bin using FFTpatcher.

howerver fftpack.bin cam from the ISO use CD mage to extracti it from the ISO.

k, so I used UMDgen to extract the files, used FFTPatcher to extract fftpack.bin, replaced a sprite, used FFTPatcher to rebuild fftpack.bin and used UMDgen to rebuild the ISO. Now my psp doesnt recongize it anymore, What did I do wrong?

im having similar problems, although my psp actuallt sees the umd info and whatnot, maybe i need to use cdmage? currently i use MagicISO which seemed to work fine, hmmmmm....
EDIT: okay i tried umdgen, it works, here's what you do: open an fresh or newly copied iso of fft in umdgen browse through umdgen to find the fftpack.bin file and drag the new one right there and save it. thanks for mentioning umdgen, i wouldn't have figured it out without ya.
I never learn from my mistakes.
