Help! / ppf files and FFTPatcher
May 03, 2022, 07:51:02 pm
Hello all!

I have been lurking here a while and finally decided to post something.  Is it possible to apply a ppf patch on a clean ISO then apply another patch made with FFTPatcher over that?  I wanted to have the smart encounters made by xifanie, as well as a small mod I am working on for the PSX version. Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Help! / Re: Using Lioneditor with the Vita or on PC

One of my friends locally has a very similar request.  Let me try it with his savedata first, and if that works, I can let you know what will need to be done before I request your savedata.  (wouldn't want to waste your time if it doesn't work.)

Help! / Re: portrait color mumble jumble.

Sorry for the wall of text before.  I found one little step that I skipped in changing the color depth to a lower setting to erase the portrait palette before I add in the portrait.  I got it all working and it looks great!  Thanks for the help!    :D

Help! / Re: portrait color mumble jumble.

I have the colors for my portrait on the 9th row.  My portrait on the sprite sheet looks like it should, but when I load it into shishi, it looks terrible, and it also looks really bad in the game.  Do you know what I have to do to the portrait portion so it looks messed up on the sprite sheet so it will display properly in game like all of the standard sprites?

I am having the same issues.  I have made my custom portrait, but I am trying to figure out why it looks really crappy when I load it into Shishi.  If you look at the ones that are already on the ISO, the portraits are messed up, so my question is, how do I take the portrait that I have, mess it up to look like the ones from the stock game so they display correctly in game?  I have already run through the tutorial about the portrait, but it is telling me how to fix it and make it look right on the sheet, not in the game.  any ideas?  I have tried using the "damaged" image as it looks kind of like a negative, but that doesn't work.  If you need the portrait, and the sprite sheet, just ask, and I can attach them.

Thanks for the help!  I got it all taken care of.  I now have a few custom sprites in the game for WotL.  If only I could edit the cloud sprite.  I really don't like the red they added to him, and I like the custom sprites on this site, but they are too big to add with the new version of Shishi   oh well, will have to make due I guess.  Again, thanks for all of your assistance!

I am using the current version of the tool package provided earlier in this tutorial, but when I try to replace a sprite using the new method (Sprite->Import SPR)  I am getting an error that is saying: "the sprite size is 44453 bytes.  The max size is 43008 bytes." and fails to import the sprite.  I look at the file sizes of each file (old sprite and new sprite I am wanting to use) in Graphic Gale, and they are the same... am I doing anything wrong?  I am using the toolkit FFTPatcher suite ver. 0.482 v2, and trying to replace the cloud sprite with the advent children version from the sprites download section for use on the PSP WotL if that helps clarify my situation.

War of the Lions Hacking / Trouble with sprites

Hello all, any help with my situation is greatly appreciated, I am trying to change some sprites particularly of Cloud.  I have used the Shishi sprite editor and I managed to import the custom sprite I want.  I check the box next to cloud's entry on which files to update.  When I patch it back to the ISO using the button, it goes for not even a few seconds, and is done.  I put it on my PSP, load up the game, and the sprite appears unchanged on the formation screen and in the battle.  I have been doing some searching and it seems that there needs to be another patching process in order to get the sprites to work.  What program do I need to get the custom sprites in my battles (and possibly formation screen)?  I have also looked at using the FFTpatcher, but there seems to be no way to change the sprites on it anywhere.
