Lulu portrait and Sprite (in the works)

The Story of WHY I'm doing this.

I was flipping through the Custom sprite section again and saw this Lulu sprite I had seen before... and it had been annoying me to no end.

The Sprite itself could be restyled to look MUCH better and more like Lulu. It looks more like they took the Balmafula sprite, made everything black, added badly shaded breasts, and made only one leg exposed. There were much better choices for a base in my opinion like... well the only one that really comes to mind right now is Reis. Mainly because she has long sleeves and a skirt that could be easily edited. (Also, LULU DOESN'T HAVE A FLIPPIN CAPE!)

The portrait wasn't SO horrible... unless you looked at it for a little while. Then you realize that the face's shading looks like its all one color. I understand that the person limited their colors, but I think they may have had more than they thought... either way, I think I could make it better.


While I know I probably sound like a total dick... thats how I feel about it. It could be GREATLY improved in my opinion. And... well, I feel like trying.

Two Versions now. Which should I keep on using and change the hair color already? Or perhaps I should start over again? Maybe someone has a better base portrait to suggest?

Do it. The sprite isn't terrible or anything but it needs work: better use of color and contrast, and it should look a little more like Lulu. Perhaps the base sprite wasn't a good one? I dunno...

The portrait really grinds my gears though--it's mostly a recolor and it didn't turn out too well. Know this though, a portrait with very fair skin and very dark hair is gonna be trouble...though I think it can be done.

If you can do better than something someone else submitted, why not go for it?  If nothing else, it can be submitted as an alternate version.  There's nothing to lose by it.  Why make a poll?

Well I don't want people thinking bad of me for just making it then saying, "HAI EVERYBODIES! LOOOK AT MEE. I DO BETTER THAN THE OTHER GUY." not that I would actually say that, but thats probably how some people would view it.

Also, I don't have as much time as I would like, and I wanted to know if people want to see this done. If no one wanted it, then I wouldn't even attempt it and save some time for myself.

Go ahead, and even though it may be inaccurate to X you may want to switch the hair to cover the other eye.

I've run into a bit of a problem. Lulu is very colorful xD

She has all those hair adornments and necklaces, and that will make things extremely difficult with colors...

Dont try and transfer all the little details. They wont scale down. Trying this will ensure the sprite looks really fucking stupid.

i was looking at it again and it does need a little touch up... zalge, can i ask you for a favor? i was wondering if you dont mind it, could you help me on my portrait? i'm already done with outlines and color. its just that i suck at shading...
