I've just been using PSX since somebody recommended it to me, maybe I'll try some others out. As long as I can still use my virtual memory card of course. :3

I haven't extensively tested ePSXe 2.0 to say if the rule has been changed, but the general rule is to use anything other than ePSXe. If you just want to play FFT without much hassle, pSX 1.13 is the friendliest, easiest option. I personally prefer to use PCSX-R with either its default GPU plugin with GTE accuracy enabled, or edgbla's gpuBladeSoft. RetroArch is another good option, if you can get it to work without immediately crashing - I can't.
