Nice Cid...as i said, im really excited about getting this sprite.
Few things though. on the front left/right sides, his helmet looks to flat and jutted. by that i mean... It looks slanted, but nto far enough, it makes it look like he has a pumpkin face with a jutted out helmet >.<
Regardless, i think that is the only issue your facing. Everything else looks extremely well done IMHO <3

What's different? I really can't tell.
To be honest the thing that needs the most work is the helmet.
The colors and all that are pretty good.
The angled view of the helmet just looks ... wrong.
to much of the back eye slot is visible one pixel rotated more should do ... i think

yes yes!, much better, now see if the top 3 rows of the pixels on the right horn look better moved one to the right...
And farther down, too. He looks like he's cocking his head away from the viewer.
well just needs a little more back to the helmet with the darkest color i guess?

but the top pixel of the horn, by itself, i think there needs to be a little bit of shading under it like the dark brown or something... not sure exactly don't want to overdo it either,

I do have 2 color slots that aren't being used.
I could add more colors.
Did he have white horns? I think they're supposed to be the same color as the helmet and armor. The portrait might have had it that color, IIRC.

It's interesting to note that in the DS version, his face is visible at times when he is not wearing his face cover/visor....
Could that get a sprite as well?
really his sprite in battles of ff4 it looks like his the helm isn't all the way down, like gaffy looks, but gaffy's helmet doesn't seem quite the same.
I based mine off the portrait, I wanted to do a fully helmeted sprite.
Well, I commend you on basing off Amano's work. I hate it when they have a separate illustrator and sprite artist. They always look so different.

Damnit. Minw truly sucked compared to this. Well done Cid. And no, poligies aren't neccessary about hijacking. This is an awesome sprite. I will definately use this when it's finished. Mine was trting to look more like the old FFIV ingame sprite. Yours... is so much better.
Yours was good, you were just trying to do the in-game sprite, which I think is a little harder to do :D
*EDIT* I might even want it, I was thinking of having Ramza get progressively more evil through the chapters, and yours might make a good 2nd step, and this would be the end result.

Alas, I've finished!
Check it out some of these were thrown together while I was tired.
The horns look a little flat in places, like they need darker tones for shading. I'm also not liking the rear view of the helmet that much. They just need a little work though, as a whole this is looking good.
I think you need to work on the back view of the helmet.
For the Horn on the backside of the helmet,

Personally I think the shading is fine on the Horns, but maybe if you used a color that wasn't so white it would help contrast.

This owns, however the head is bothering me a bit, mostly the helmet cross, which on the sprite looks tilted to the side, as well as the horns; it should be fixed fast.

Cid you have the horns switching directions when he is facing backwards. It is like you are using the same horns whichever direction he is facing and it doesn't really work. It continues to look better though.

When spriting, one needs to practice and listen to the crits given to you to get better, instead of getting used to let other people do stuff for you. Or that's how I learned, anyway. :p

From the front it looks like the horns face backwards, while from the back it looks like the horns face frontwards. That is the only thing that could use fixing
