Help! / Re: FFTpatcher issue

Quote from: Jumza on December 20, 2022, 03:37:25 pmUsing Duckstation? Duckstation has a setting where it loads up an old savestate it made rather than restarting the whole game. If you've patched text to some files then that would be loaded up by the game when needed, but skillset data is always loaded in (in SCUS) and you would not see anything changed until you did a hard reset. You can prevent this by unchecking "Save State on Exit" in the Duckstation settings under General.

This did the trick! I'm doing a lot of custom event editing and I usually have a savetstate via ePSXe. Now I know to always hard reset when making new skillsets/abilities. Many thanks!

Help! / [SOLVED] FFTpatcher issue
December 20, 2022, 12:36:51 pm
Hi folks,

I am having issues where skillsets are not updating, but editing their text via FFtactext does. I noticed this issue happening when I was trying to create a new skillset for a character. In game, the name of the skillset/job class changes, but the abilities remain default. I decided to try this with Ashley Riot, a skillset I did not yet touch to see if this was a universal issue. From the screenshots below, I guess it is.

Modding version: PSX
Base Patch: TLW

Any help is appreciated!

Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible to remap sprites for special units upon changing jobs and if there is any tutorial as I can't seem to find one in the forums.

For example,

Agrias has her own sprite (unit and portrait). If I change her job to archer, her sprite would switch to the generic archer sprite or any other assigned sprite, other than Agrias's sprite. If I switch jobs from archer to knight, the sprite appearance would change and so on.

I've looked into UWEntries (https://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=7833.0), but that only seems to replace the appearance of the sprite while maintaining that certain sprite upon changing jobs.

Any help is much appreciated!

Edit: Found a work around by setting gender restrictions for jobs. However, please reply if what I asked is possible!

Hey thanks for the reply,

For accessing files such as unit.bin/wldface.bin for the PSX version, I simply used CDmage as you have mentioned and just went to town with replacing sprites and remapping portraits for them.

I'm also using this tutorial https://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=8229.msg163302#msg163302 for making my story.

I don't really need any more assistance for now, but I appreciate the reply! So, a moderator can mark this as resolved.

Thank you!

Hi, I've recently got back into FFT modding and I have decided to create my own story with characters from FF 12 that I am currently creating!

For my question, is Elric's story creation tutorial compatible with WOTL?

If not, I have been looking into the PSX version and I'm not sure how I would go about in accessing the main files (EVENT FOLDER, UNIT.BIN, ETC) as I just have a .bin file of the actual game.

Any help is much appreciated it!

Edit: Figured it out how to access these files for PSX and decided to move away from WOTL.
