I think your team splitting off in groups of 1's or 2's didn't help matters either. Made it easier for my team to isolate your units from each other and then focus fire on them & block off healing/revival routes. That samurai definitely packs a mean swing and that Monk would probably hurt but he didn't really get a chance to display it. Thanks for the match Barren! GG AZ!!

The 1000 Barren FFT Arena idea sounds awesome. I'm flexible with either scenario (current teams or post update).

I've been here roughly 1 year and 1/2ish and you've definitely put in a lot hard work on the videos/tournaments/general help thanks for all the effort.

Great thanks to the video hosts and tournament help. It was fun tournament.

Congratulations to Gaignun for winning the tournament (that ninja is brutal) and good job on Mudvayne/Truelight/Shintroy on placing 2nd/3rd/4th. For how my team I feel I improved from last year's run and I had a feeling synth would avenge his lost from earlier in the tournament in this rematch. I think my team got a little lucky against positioning itself in the maps better in the earlier match against him.



Edit: If FFH Olympics looks similar it's b/c I basically made a last second rehash of The Hype is Real...
I was original trying to make 1.4 version of Windly Embrace but I scrapped it at the last minute b/c I didn't feel it would be balanced enough to face the various different teams.

I've got some catching up to do here: It's been a great tournament so far thanks for the videos guys.

Alfa's team obliterated me in round 2. Round 1 was just too much status going Redworlds way. Round 4 I got pretty lucky getting through projectile guard quite a bit to get passed Dokurider. 3, 5, & 6 my team been showed good resiliency in a couple of the matches to make comebacks where it could have easily been losses. I don't feel it's enough to take the tournament, maybe a top 5 finish.

That 1st map reminds me of a dodge ball game with the sunlight splitting up the middle of the room like that. AI didn't care for traditional dodge ball rules though. Pretty potent offense coming from Shintroy's spinarooni's, bad luck on the 2nd map with dw sleeping her own allies. DW units also kept bundling themselves up for Shintroy units to go ham. GG


Charm could have been bad for me, luckily it wasn't too damaging. Yeah wiznaibus is kind of there as kind of a defensive tactic as well keeping the enemy units busy healing themselves (which is not likely to save them...) instead of attacking my units. I have no haste/slow available so last dance is to help compensate for that if need be. GG Corosar/Reks


One thing I forgot to mention is that Mimes From Hell can easily backfire on me. As sometimes the mimes will glitch and get stuck on the sing/dance/item animations when they attack...rendering them useless.

GG Shintory. R1 Undead status really did a number on my units, it took my berserked Ninja pretty early and then got my priest too. My team tried to comeback that round as best they could but the undead procs pretty much sealed the deal. I thought it was funny when Shintroy's Samurai counter smacked when the mime attacked him like "hey cut it out, I'm on your team!!" If the mime could speak.."*shrugs* Sorry, I mime things :/ "

Round 2 & 3: Oddly enough Death Sentence didn't really hurt my ninja too much b/c they Shintroy's team just ignored him and the mime kept getting himself counter attacked from it. After some volley's my team eventually made Shintroy's team get into sandbag mode and my team kept the pressure flowing until they eventually beat it out.
I'm surprised my team did as well as it did b/c Shintroy's team had some oil protection which negates some of the ninja's potency.



I liked that Paladin/Squire combo some brutal tomahawk action followed up with Aurablast/earth slash shots. The holy procs going off from Elmdor's Silver bow shots were pretty cool when they went off, but I think the paladin/squire duo kept Elmdor on the defensive too much and he couldn't get too many shots off.  Vigilanti was also pretty well set up to kill undead and could turn Rouroni other unit's undead as a bonus.

Yeah the thing you have to watch out for is that Berserked units don't care if a teammate or obstacle is in the way of his/her intended target, they'll attack anyhow. You can mitigate that though by designing the team so the gunner/xbower usually stays in the front lines or giving him/her like teleport and/or allies projectile guard. Longbows will shoot around obstacles/allies. Meatbone slash also has the same issue when it comes to wanting to the use it on ranged weapons.

I think the quickest help for jaaster's archer might be ultimus bow sacrifice 1 wp but gain 1 pa + 1 range on the weapon. But that mediator evadiator made for a good counter for that berserked archer strategy which didn't allow jaaster get into an offensive position.


Yeah I would like to of had nurse (so the mimes can heal themselves too) in place of iron will. But the AI loves to use nurse right off the bat even on medium/small maps where I'd rather have the paladin get to the liching and get as many liches going ASAP. Iron will at least allows him to reapply protect/shell after a revive, but then the mimes have wall... I could try transfusion on the team see how that works. Concentrate is so m-evade isn't an issue from liches coming from the mimes, I'll give the pray faith scene a try or maybe talk skill/preach.

I think Argy's geomancer probably should just have masamune over kiyo, I probably would have lost if that geomancer kept the damage flowing. GG Argy

Yikes definitely need to rework some things on that team. I think mainly I need to get the mages to survive better. Probably setiemson over reflect ring first comes to mind. I don't mind the 88% revival I think it's still pretty good.


Sorry Andante49 it looks like........You've been chopped. Didn't even need oil to get to 999, sleep did the trick...crazy stuff.

I have a geo on one of my beta test teams that uses the top 4 punch art skills pretty effectively, I think paladin (little less power tanky version), lancers (speed and/or power) or thieves (due to speed) can use those monk skills pretty well too. Also the nice thing about spin fist now is that it's smart targeting so pair it with 1 or 2 mimes and some pa stackage (sing or basic skill)........

I can help with some of the recording. Now it's either I can make the tournament discussion for 6pm to 7ish & miss most of the stream or I won't make it until 9ish. It depends how things here shake out.

I think don't move already allows reactions.

I'm ok with the 1st part and undecided on the 2nd part. Don't move can do a good job of disrupting teams as is if set up good and most people don't guard against it. Units are basically a sitting duck and if one of their teammates is in need of healing/revival....

Deja vu? win 1st round pretty handedly then lose the next 2.. Definitely need to get flee of that paladin and switch regenerator out for damage split & I think I'll give him green beret too for more mp/movement. Nice team Argy and thanks WKW, GG.

I've gotten into it about a month ago and been playing it on & off since then. I've split my time between that, here, fallout shelter, dungeon boss, and dragon's dogma.

Fantasy War Tactics is one of those f2p/p2w* iPhone/blue stacks games similar to fftactics style gameplay.  IIRC I believe in the introductory sequence they even state the gamemaking was inspired by fftactics. The 1st hero you get looks similar to Agrias(def not same personality). You can even send people out on propositions, they call'em expeditions.

You fight in a grid layout like tactics with bonuses for hitting in the back/sides. Characters also get bonuses from attacking from certain tile types. There's also paper/Rock/scissors to it also, some characters are paper type or rock type... etc.

You can't really select skills/abilities for characters. It's more ff6 style where characters are already set w/ their personal skill sets, there's just a bunch of characters to choose and you unlock more of their skills as you build them up. Also certain characters will have better comparability/affinities with other characters.

You can setup combos with the attacks/skills....
Like say if your paladin/knight type is about to hit an enemy next to him 1-panel range and if that enemy unit is also within range of a 2-range spear type user, an archers attack, and an AoE Magic users range then all four of your allies will attack that enemy.

You yourself are a called a lord and has map-wide abilities once the meter thing gets built up.

Biggest awkward thing about the game is that it feels like a horny ex-street fighter person designed the look of the characters. One of the enemy units has a pretty ridiculous Cami/mileena type outfit. It's not too bad I guess, just awkward for this kind of game.

The story part of the game though is going for more of a comedic approach. Like your character is actually actively trying to conquer the world and the other "bad" characters are in the way of that plan. Like you obviously can't conquer the world if someone else destroys it first....so you have to stop them.

  *(I haven't had to worry about p2w yet...i don't think it's necessary I think it just speeds the process up)

How about a gimmicky idea like everyone makes two units ( 2 twins, 2 SCC,  or 2 normal) then they get listed and paired up(RNG'ed or other type of selection process) with another players two units.

Since everyone would be paired up it would cut down the number of videos needed for a quicker tournament and give some more time to work out kinks before the bigger tournament.

Yeah my team was lacking behind in the revive department. Especially since the only other person(chivchiri) besides the chemist that could revive kept getting herself isolated from her teammates. The ultimus bow samurai needs some more assistance with the offense too I think. And I picked up from you that Unholy hurts if I don't have a defense against it. GG Argy.
