Chrono Fantasy Tactics: Can we do it?

So I am thinking of starting a patch with all the Chrono Trigger characters. This patch is going to be hugely different from normal FFT, but I don't really have the skill to make it all out with event editor and whatnot, so it won't really make that much sense storywise, but oh well.

The basic thing is that the Chrono Trigger characters will take the place of special characters from FFT.

Crono <---  Ramza
Marle  <---  Agrias  (possibly Algus in chapter 1)
Lucca <---  Mustadio  (possibly Delita in chapter 1)
Frog  <--- Beowolf
Robo  <--- Worker 8
Ayla  <--- Cloud
Magus <--- Orlandu

And the most noteworthy thing is that all classes apart from Squire and Chemist will be unattainable, and Sq+Ch will be nerfed. The point is to make it as close to CT as possible so there are no generic units you can use.

Setting all classes (except Squire and Chemist) to require level 8 Mime would work, right?

Here is what I have so far for each characters moves

Crono (Ramza)

-Cyclone: Basically spin fist. It hits all around him. Damage would likely just be weapon damage
-Slash: Like earth slash, but 4 range and again, only does weapon damage
-Lightning*: Bolt 2
-Spincut: I don't know if it would be possible to have a single jump move in a skillset of all other non-jump moves, but a jump type move would be ideal here
-Lightning 2*: Bolt 4
-Life: Raise
-Confuse: Is there any way to have it work like truth with 1-4 attacks with a sword?
-Luminaire*: Something big and lightning-y

Marle (Agrias)

-Aura: Cure
-Provoke: Definitely add confusion, thinking of steal heart animation (does FFT have any booty smacking animations?)
-Ice*: Ice 2
-Cure: Cure 2
-Haste: Haste (2?)
-Ice 2*: Ice 4
-Cure 2: Cure 4
-Life 2: Raise 2

Lucca (Mustadio)

-Flame Toss: Fire Bracelet animation 2 (3?) range
-Hypno Wave: adds sleep, 0 range, 1 (2?) effect radius
-Fire*: Fire 2
-Napalm: This could be interesting with a fire ball, would it work?
-Protect: Wall
-Fire 2*: Fire 4
-Mega Bomb: fire ball+?
-Flare*: Flare

*: I'm thinking that a wild encounter with Spekkio could happen in chapters 2/3/4 and he could use magic that the characters learn on contact. The further the chapter, the higher the level of magic

As for the other characters, my ideas for them are pretty blank, so there isn't much point typing it up. If anyone else wants to add in some ideas feel free. And you can watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fKX69yl7Sw for some inspiration.

And I am aware that we would need sprites for the characters and Spekkio (only crono has been done if I am correct).

I know this may seem like an ambition project considering how much of a newb I am to patching, but I'm sure if we all work together we could make an awesome patch.

I think this is a great idea for a patch. I was thinking to myself recently that it would be cool, if we reverse engineer FFT enough, to remake other RPGs into TRPGs using the FFT engine.

for crono's confuse you could use balthiers barrage from the psp version

Luminaire is actually supposed to be a Holy element attack (chrono's original element can be translated as either Sky or Heaven, hence the mix of lightning and holy spells). I'd think that the animation for Ultima or possibly one of the Lucavi transformations (Zalera, maybe?) would work.

Slurp- Lick animation, restores ally hp and heals the Oil and Poison statuses

Slurp Cut- Water element physical attack

Water- Water Ball animation

Heal- Murasame?

Leap Slash-Destroy animation (which makes a human sprite peform a jump attack), uses the holy sword formula

Water 2- Leviathian?

Cure 2- Cure 4

Frog Squash- Deals damage equal to Caster Max HP - Caster Current HP.

Robo
Equips: Armor, Helmets
Innates: Martial Arts, Defend Up

Rocket Punch- Wave Fist?

Cure Beam- Adds Regen to single ally

Laser Spin- Dispose animation, Dark element

Robo Tackle- Dash, but with a higher Y value in the damage formula

Heal Beam-Self AoE adds Regen to party members

Uzzi Punch-Repeating Fist?

Area Bomb-Self Destruct animation, deals fire damage to all nearby

Shock- Giga Flare? Lightning element attack centered on self

Ayla
Equips: Clothes, Robes, Hats
Innates: Two Swords, Secret Hunt

Kiss-Range 1, Steal heart animation, removes negative status effects

Rollo Kick- low damage, but cancels Charging

Cat Attack- Poison Nail?

Rock Throw- Choco meteor animation, has a chance to add sleep or confuse

Charm- Charms an enemy

Tail Spin- Dance tech deals continuious wind damage to the enemy party

Dino Tail- Deals damage equal to Target Max Hp - Target Current Hp

Magus
Equips: Axes, Clothes, Helmets
Innates: Half of Mp, Teleport

Lightning 2- Bolt 4

Fire 2- Fire 4

Ice 2- Ice 4

Shadow Bomb- Demi 2 animation, deals Dark damage

Magic Wall- Shell 2

Dark Mist- Quicksand animation? deals dark damage and causes Blind and Confusion.

Black Hole- Kotetsu animation, self AoE.

Dark Mater- Blind 2 animation, deals massive dark damage in a large area.

New Items

Rainbow
Katana  14 WP, Holy Element, Strengthens Holy 25% chance to attack again

Valkyrie Bow
Longbow  18 WP, Ice Element, Strengthens Ice, 25% chance to inflict Death Sentence

Grandleon
Knight Sword  20 WP, Water Element, Strengthens Water, 25% chance to inflict Faith

Wondershot
Gun  20 WP, Fire element, strengthens Fire, randomly casts fire 1, 2 or 3

Doom Sickle
Axe  16 WP, Dark element, Strengthens Dark, drains hp

I'm saying have the sprite of cloud be crono. Just edit him a little bit like make the hair red and a headband and also ramza doesn't have the hair for it.
