New Project Ideas / Re: The Lion War - Recruits
December 30, 2023, 10:20:58 pm
Quote from: Elric on December 27, 2023, 01:46:50 amI will be working on recruits again, as I cannot work on Jot5 in it's current state without reconciliation. This project wasn't something difficult, was mostly easy and outside of the mercenary stuff, which was already in progress when I stopped, a good bulk of the work was already done.

I will likely be hosting it elsewhere, but I'll make sure it gets linked back here by someone in the future when I have more to show.

This is amazing news! I'm so excited!

Quote from: steagle11 on November 07, 2023, 12:56:58 pmAbsolutely love the idea of this mod. This is/was a childhood fantasy of mine and I used to use an action replay just to be able to play as certain characters like gafgarion. Is there any expected timeline on when even a possible test version will be released? Love your work TIA.

It is currently on an indefinite hold, I hope Elric will be able to work on it again but if not at least we have this thread to inspire others to do something similar to his vision. In any case, if you are reading this Elric, I hope you are doing well!

I'm quite sad to see this as this mod in particular was something I was greatly looking forward to and was excited to see everything you had done. I hope you can get the rest you need and I sincerely hope you find inspiration to continue this mod.

I wish there was something more that I could do to help than simply offer words of encouragement and comfort, but I understand the feeling of not feeling part of a community anymore. I used to be pretty prominent on FF6 hacking scene (mostly as a sprite artist) but eventually I just didn't feel that pull anymore. Sometimes I'll go back and do more, I even created a 16bit artwork for my Dungeons and Dragons group's anniversary in a style of a FF6 battle against enemies I sprited with our characters in the PC style.

All of that is just to say, I totally get it, but I hope that you do return and continue the mod when you feel inspired and ready to continue tackling it. I know it is a tremendous amount of work and effort, and I have loved every update you have shown us and will continue to look forward to your inspiring work!

Just rewatched the Wiegraf and Gafgarian recruit videos, I'm still very excited to replay the game with this mod! The way you handled both is very cognizant and believable within the story and the characters themselves!

Quote from: Elric on April 14, 2021, 12:16:55 amIt is. I'm not a paid employee, and I don't release partial patches. IF you actually want up to date info, maybe ask on discord, or take into account the amount of projects I work on, here alone. Let alone anywhere else.

The reason I mod games and do not work for a dev team, is because I do this as a hobby on my own time, when I am damn good and ready to do so.

If you want something that bad, you are free to use some of your own free time, to create it properly, mostly lore friendly, and well evented, on your own. Otherwise you can wait for this. Up to you.

I for one am very excited for this and am happy to wait as long as you need, you have great ideas here and I was hooked with those videos!

I am also very excited for this!

Also as a side note, Kagebunji, I'm pretty sure your avatar is Dias Flac, right? If so, Major Props, I love Second Story!

PSX FFT Hacking / Ramza Sword Saint Class
June 09, 2019, 11:44:45 am
Hi, I've been having this idea for awhile of Ramza essentially becoming a Swordskill Blue Mage essentially, where if he is struck by something like Lightning Stab, Night Blade, Dusk Blade, etc, he will learn how to use those abilities. I know his job changes frequently so how well would this work? I also wanted to change his Guts abilities into new sword skills (Those that Squires share will be removed from his skills).

Specifically I want to give him unique sword skills, for an example there was an idea I had of using the Rafa/Malak random hit mechanic with a sword skill that would be a low damage but could hit between 4-6x or something like that with an auto target (like with spin fist, etc). My main questions are, what pitfalls should I be wary of? Such as the class changing, issues that might cause trouble with other characters/etc. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I have only recently started playing it and have only just arrived at the castle and I have to say...I was completely surprised and practically freaked out when I saw what Lysay did! It took me a moment to calm down after I was like..."Did that really just happen!?"

So to make something that will turn very long winded quite quickly, great job thus far!

Well since you used Aerith's sprite for Homemaker I kind of wanted to keep one in my party, lol. If that is the case I will go back and re-check it. Now I won't feel bad for doing so. ^-^
10
I just looked into it (which I admit I should have done in the first place -_-;) and you are right, the Persevere box has been unchecked so it will not do continuous damage.
11
That doesn't show up in the AT list does it? (at least I didn't see it there since that was what I had originally thought would happen)
12
For the Homemaker's Boil, it states that it has continuous damage, does that mean it will randomly hit more than once or that it delivers damage over time? Either way for some reason boil hasn't done so and I've cast it around ten fifteen times by now...

Celdia's Complete Patch / Re: CCP - Bug Reports

It works perfectly now! Thanks for the advice on the plugin Celdia!
It's been a long time since I've played on my epsxe, so I was a bit rusty. ^-^;

Ah, is that so? Thanks for your help! I may just have to once again change my GPU or settings.

Here's 5 links to show what is going on, the formation screen didn't mess up this time so it wasn't there and I didn't finish the battle since I felt that what I have shows the gist of what is wrong:

Thank in advance for any help you can give me, Celdia. If what you suspect to be true (bad ISO) do you have a resource that you would recommend I go to?

Celdia's Complete Patch / Re: CCP - Bug Reports
July 04, 2011, 08:41:22 pm
Hello, I don't know if this is quite a bug as opposed to a graphical issue, but it would seem that when I patch a FFT rom (extended ISO and one that wasn't extended) with this patch I come across some severe graphic glitches were there is horrible pixelation on the narration screens, I see random items and classes on the job list menu (in-battle) and when I go to place my units there is this weird graphical glitch that appears. I have used around four different GPUs believing those to be the problem, is there anyone else who has had similar problems and can direct me towards a solution?

In all honesty, I don't mind the flowery speech. To me it did fit the setting pretty well; what irked me was the overly dramatic names of the locations. I prefer the name Sweegy Woods; it was simple and yet really put the location into perspective.

Help! / Re: Patching Trouble
September 19, 2010, 12:49:46 pm
Job levels and stats? I didn't change those. I used the FFTPatcher to take off all the abilities with "Require Sword" and "Material Blade" like ARH said, then I opened it up. (It's an excel document) and changed some abilities to be split up between the females and the males but when I went to patch it I didn't really understand the directions: here are some screen shots:

This is the directions on how to patch it:

This is what I did on ARH:

Help! / Patching Trouble
September 18, 2010, 11:22:58 pm
Hello all, I have recently come across the Ability Require Hack and had changed the ability requirements of one of my jobs. I understood how to actually apply the changes to the abilities the problem I am having is that I have honestly no idea how to actually patch this to my game. Could someone please explain how to patch it?
