Spriting / Re: New Blue Mage Sprite
May 28, 2013, 11:03:45 pm
I've made it this far tonight.  I had some palette problems because some errant duplicate colors got into the sprites.  I have some issues to address, namely the legs for the jumping/level up animation.  I might take another pass at his back since it looks a little flat.  Other than that, it's just the rear attack frames and the arms.  Mobius might be taking a revising pass at the sprite as well.

Mobius, that is awesome!  Well done, sir!

I found a rear view for the turban that I like, so I'm good in that department.  I'll have everything but the arms done later today.   I'll post that progrees when it gets there.  After the arms, I'll need to reacquaint myself with converting it into .spr format.

Spriting / New Blue Mage Sprite
May 26, 2013, 11:19:28 am
Hello all, I've been gone awhile, won't promise I'll stick around, but I picked up a sprite that I wanted to do long ago. Ryu and Smash started a blue mage, but I don't think it got past the first frame. I wanted to use it for the game I'll be making. Here it is in all its glory:

I noted that the unit was based on the Geomancer male, so that will save me all the work on the shoes and a little bit of the arms. Arms tend to be the most time consuming, so that works out wonderfully. Here is my progress so far:

Discounting the arms, I'm about halfway there. Questions, comments, opinions are welcome.  I haven't quite decided what I want the back of the turban to look like, so I have two or three version popping up in there. I'm not looking forward to doing the portrait, so if there are any takers on that, go for it.

This is not a silly request.  For some serendipitous reason, I've been thinking of a Pokemon Tactics all day.  If you started small with a pokemon of each "element," you could make a decent game and you could balance it better than the actual pokemon games are.

Grass - Bulbasaur
Water - Squirtle
Fire - Charmander
Electric - Pikachu
Normal - Rattata
Flying - Pidgey
Rock - Geodude
Ground - Sandshrew
Poison - Ekans
Fighting - Machop
Psychic - Abra
Ghost - Ghastly
Dragon - Dratini
Bug - Caterpie
Ice - umm... Shellder or Seal?

Have a trainer be forced onto the field who is basically a chemist/mediator that cannot attack.  The pokeball ability would be like Train is for the mediator.

My mind is going into overdrive for what this could possibly be!

Batman: Arkham Asylum had something like that.  If you had a pirated copy, the cape glide wouldn't work properly and you could get past some central parts of the game without it.  I think these are clever ways to do anti-piracy, because it takes awhile for pirates to catch on.

Back to Et's question, I like the no DRM, because as others have mentioned, it usually just gets cracked a little later. but continues to to annoy legal gamers (especially the ones where you must be online even for single player).

Help! / Re: Can I put in a sprite request ?

Depends on how complicated you get.  Starting from scratch is hard.  Basing your sprite on an existing one isn't that bad.  Minor edits to an existing sprite is actually pretty dang easy.

There is a specific section for sprite requests here: http://ffhacktics.com/smf/index.php?topic=1072.0

Well, you are going to need to draw, but I would also like to know where the EVTCHR viewer is.

Not sure is this is old news or not, but take a look at this: https://twitter.com/#!/YasumiMatsuno/status/169572953686683648

Ramza is alive.  It had been debated back and forth, but now the author has confirms Ole Buttpants survived the final battle.

Nice necro-save there, fdc.  So that would work perfectly for a kind of vehicle.  Awesome!

I found this awhile back ago, which actually was what brought me back to FFH:
http://socksmakepeoplesexy.net/index.php?a=fft

It mentions FFH under the heading "THE GAME!" section.
