Version .06 Update

Im tired, and sick(sinus Infections suck)

I got fed up with my wraith problem. the sprite is not included. in fact instead of a sprite, all you will see is a shadow where this monster is supposed to be. shishi did not take kindly to this sprite, and now it will not show. Ill have that fixed by this weekend.

As of now, most of this is untested, the new battles, monster and item changes. but then again, thats why this is alpha, not beta. Major things need to be implemented and tested. Beta is for the near-finished product being proofed for bugs.

For the love of god, if something is wrong or an effect looks odd, tell me.

All things included/not included are in seperate topics.

Im off to bed. 4 hours of frustration and ISO reconstruction and backup failure has worn me out and pissed me off.

Remember. nearly everything is untested. if its not in the other topics, please post.

Some things i wnat you to take note of are abilities that effect multiple targets, but only show an effect on one target. i need to set these a bit differently, but i cant find ALL of them quickly. id appreaciate the help guys :)

Also, i fell in love with VC's Event Skipper. it makes the game go shitloads faster. i took the liberty of releasing it in a seperate PPF, for those who dont like to go through all teh chapter 1 events while testing a new patch.

I CAN RESUME WORK ON THE PATCH

To everyone wanting to test, thank you so much for your enthusiasm, you have no idea how happy it makes me :D

So heres what ahppened

I got in a wreck

They did a CT of my head

Found a small tumor

Found my thyroid is 8 times normal size

Performed surgery on my thyroid nearly immediatly

No complications

I spent 2 weeks recovering

thanks for everyones concern, i love you guys :D

Alright; Who here loves invoking fear just by presence? thats waht the fear monger does, and he does a damn good job.

He is basically my twist on a meele necromancer :)

He doesnt have many abilities other than the ones that inflict chicken and a few others, such as Dark 1-3...so if you have ideas your welcome to take a shot at it.

Think of this as a white mage, But with armor and the new damage mechanic.

Innate: Regen

Cure 4 - AOE of 2
Raise - AOE of 1
Raise 2 - 100% Raise on one target
Esuna
Line heal - An Earthslash-like attack that heals on MA and Faith
Brite - Holy Damage with AOE of 1
Regen
Reraise
Barrier - protect on self AOE of 1
Protect - Protect on 1 target
Shell - Shell on AOE of 1
Magic Ward - Shell + Reflect on 1 target

There is room for 2 more skills, please, post your ideas. Think of this as a masochist paladin :P

The Arch mage is nasty little caster.

The mechanic behind this is to hit multiple times with MA based spells.
Each attack would do a Status, so you have multiple 25% chances to do a status :D

KK Guys, I need help with a name for this mechanic

Basically, as your hp goes down, you do less damage... so if your at max hp, you do 100%

If your at half your hp, you do 50% of your damage

The contrary to this is The Painbreaker...The more pain he takes, the more damage he dishes out.

With him at 50% hp he deals 150% damage

This applies to meele attacks only so far.

Well, the time has come, we are about a week away from a public beta.

If you want to be one of the final testers that helps decides over/under balance, finds small mistakes like an improper charge time, or get an early feel for the patch to help with ideas, then please, PM me.

I will provide you with notes and various edits and tips. its a very fun patch, but it needs alot of playthrough to make it a bit harder, right now its around vanilla's stage of easy.

Here i will post all info related to alpha testing of the patch, and any testing that ensues in the process.

I am creating the PPF now nad sending it to Skip, and Darth.

All who would like to test the abilities i have so far, are more than welcome to by sending me a tell. i will add you to the list.

I will send the patch, and then notes on intentions and current bugs as i finish them, so for abouta day, your going to be blindly testing. :/

So basically the idea behind this class is to do minimal healing/damage, and remove nasty status effects/good things from allies/enemies...It is a very simple concept, and highly useful as status gets more powerful late game. Unfortunatly, that leaves Shaman rather outclasses in the early game...anyone have any ideas on how to make them more useful?

The abilities are self explanitory.

Look at the job explinations post and see if you can come up with 2 special jobs and 2 jobs to replace the bard and dancer. Im out of ideas for sex dependant classes. I want them to fit the values of the other ones. being unique and doing something special while being useful as secondaries still. Mostly, im jsut having trouble fitting them in with the rest of what i got!

So i turn to the public :D

There are two new item types. The first ones are Catalyst, which i will explain now.

Catalysts are small weapons used to Amplify a mages abilities. wether it be boosting an element or boosting a stat, these enable an alternative to weak willed mages. Most of these catalyst give HP and a stat, or boost an element.

They equip in a weapon slot, but dissallow attacking. but the extra hp is always a boon

The second is Throwing Knives

These are short range weapons, much like a crossbows range, but rely on SP to do damage, rather than PA. They are the only ranged weapons that can be dual wielded.

Alright so here is the deal with the new jobs

Each one revolves around a unique mechanic, and here i will give a slight insight into what each of them is and the purpose of every job.

WeaponsMaster - Versatility. To equip nearly everything is a blessing, and the growths arent bad at all.

Ballista - Weapon Range Attacks. Although these are mainly useless unless youve got a gun or bow, they retain their strength when used with said weapons. Most of the status effects are speed based.

Rune Grapher - Their damage is made on Speed and Magic Attack. Their status and damage varies greatly when their stats change. think of it like the vanilla geomancer

Spell Blade - The current premise behidn this class is to have a varying range and area of effects that deal weapon damage and have a chance to cast another spell.

Shaman - This is nearly my favorite class because of its uniqueness. Powerful late game, this class can remove buffs and deal damage at the same time, or remove debuffs and heal at the same time.

Elementalist - Just like its name implies, this class relies on the various elemental weaknesses of the items and monsters found in the game to deal massive damage.

PainBreaker - To heal is great. To auto regen and have powerfull attacks that unfortunatly damage self is a blessing...? =)

BloodMancer - Deals in % damage, as well as current HP and target HP attacks.

Lore Master - Large AOE status effects or damage/heals.

Fear Monger - A Twist on my old Necromancer, this guy deals in dark damage and inflicting weird status effects, such as chicken.

Arch Mage - A willy old fool who's spells have a chance to fire off twice or more and inflict status on each cast.

Amplifier - Perservering Status increments to allies

There is still room for Bard, Dancer, And Special units, please make a topic of you have a suggestion :D

PSX FFT Hacking / ASM Request Thread

Hey All

Well, Vanya has gone missing for my patch for a bit, so ive decided to cure some boredome and do formula Edits; but id rather get alot of people use of these formulas and other ASM requests... This is mainly to help me practice, so please start small.

RULES

1. Since im new to this NO UBER COMPLICATED FORMULAS nothing like MA + PA + SP + 3 / 4 (PA/2)
2. Please be patient
3. One Formula or ASM request at a time...
4. Please post which formula you want replaced, and what formua you want it to "Kind of" look like if possible.

These rules are subject to change.

The Lounge / Document Program Suggestion

Hey all

I recently came int oa money situation, oddly enough, i whipped out a CD i lightscribed a few days ago with a photoshop abstraction i made myself, and someone across the hallway at school said "That looks kickass"... he offered to buy it. 3$ for about 10 minutes work and one out of the 20 cds i have.

I decided, since im good at it, to start a very small business in CD-Image-Custimization and Requests. I would take on commissions, provide a brief 1 day wait, and collect pay the next morning.

Simple no?
Well instead of writing out a form, or some such, id much rather print multiples out. The forms would be kind of an official record. They would also consist of the limitations i have, rules, expected wait, examples of what i can do, and then have an area where they can formally write a description of what they would like.

Does anyone know a good program for doing this other than microsoft word(or microsoft anything to do with what normally comes on a computer), as i never got my disk with the programs on it when buying this computer

Also, A HUGE help here would be a fair payment. should i charge by the hour? and if i scratch my work, im obviously not gonna charge them for the time i spent on what im not gonna give them. or should i charge a flat rate... in both cases, i need suggestions.

Hacking/Patching Tools / PSP text editing

Vanya, this may mostly be directed at you or kourama;

How well does world.bin work with text edits on the psp? is it the EXACT same as psx? if it is, i can get it working...

Reason i ask is im thinking about going ahead and translating SoR to psp, cause ive recieved alot of PMs asking for it... with release of v .05 coming later tonight, i was hoping people would be interested in a PSP multiplayer tournament with SoR... what do you guys think? id encourage mostly the same things as the autobattle tourny, but i would make an exception and all you to use fftastic to use the new multipliers for stats and things up to level 50... please, if you have interest in this, help me find a way to make psp world.bin work, through hex editing or placement texts like i did in the PSX

Here you guys go, proof of my Restructured Unit.BIN... as you can see it looks the same till after agrias, where i added 2 new sprites. and then after calculator, where i added 2 more, and the rest have yet to be added...

Increase Unit.BIN size by changing its structure.

This does not allow for NEW jobs entirely, as of yet anyways, until we find what links sprites to that job at least. What you can do is add lucavi to the formation screen, or alot more unique units using the sprites that would never appear in the formation screen no matter what you did without replacing something. This makes it bigger with free spaces so you dont have to overwrite anything

Old Project Ideas / Exodus: A FFT Revamp

Hello all,

I am currently in production of a new patch Which will hopefully change everything. I have played through the PSP version as well as teh PSX version, about a total of 30 times now. After that, it kind of all gets the same.
To remedy this i am completly stripping the game of current classes, and most abilities. Such changes include blue magic(a given), but others are more imaginitive and less run-of-the-mill. Demon Armors(samurai sprite) for instance, will be given dark spells, such as unholy darkness, vampirism, etc. Also, i thought of an idea. All weapons should be useful throughout the whole game, so i m raising/slowering WP to decent levels, and then changing them as i add elements or status effects or speed buffs or something along that line. Need a bit of help for an average WP number though....

If You all would like to help me, then i ask you to PM Class suggestions, and abilites to me. If you have anything else, please post here. a quik rundown of  
sample of current classes follows.

Squire = Squire
Abilities: Rest (heal 50% hp, 12 mp), Run away(-9 brave, + haste)

Chemist = Medic
Abilities include small healing abilities, but do not require items.

Black Mage = Blue Mage

White Mage = Apprentice
Abilities
Freezing Water(water/ice element) Candle Fire, Spark, Swallow(dark spell) Brite(holy spell), Preach(removes silence and aethiest)

Arithmaticion(calculator) = Grease Monkey
Abilities: Arm/leg shot, Seal evil, Oil, Destroy, compress and dispose

Geomancer = Alchemist
Abilities
Useful healing abilities. Fire/ice/spark vials. Numbing agent(immob+disable) and Flash Powder (blind to all)

Samurai = Demon Armor
Abilities
Vampire
Unholy darkness
Imoobolize
Chicken
Lich
Sanguine sword and unholy sacrifice(dark knight abilities. toned down of course)

This is just a small sample. please post thoughts or opinions, but keep all ideas to PMs, so i can better track them.
