This topic is never dead. if you find a bug, post it here, regardless of when the last post was.

portraits are not showing correctly on the formation screen. ----Fixed

Amplifier is still half of a monk sprite. im not sure if i want ot finish Zozma's Older version ,or switch to the new one with the new legs.

Chemist Move-Find-Item Ability is screwy. This has been brought ot melonheads attention. it still says move-find-item in teh editor, but in game it appears as the last ability in the primary skillset (Is "ABILITY", OK?)

Wrong sprite types across the board, female bloodmancer needs a change as well as female painbreaker. ----"Mostly" Fixed(i may have missed one or two)

Chapter 1 Ramza is using 19Guts, Chapter 2-3 is using 1A, as he normally does, but chapter 4 Ramza goes back to 19Guts instead of 1B. ----Fixed
The Ghoul, Gust and Revenant family have the same skill set of a ghoul.----Fixed

Amplifiers don't have innate train yet----Fixed

Had a bit of an idea when i saw my brother playing Fire Emblem

I have a Ballista class

But a Ballista is a giant, fortified weapon that launches humoungus arrows.

I liked this word for my new version of archer, but as it stands his skillset doesnt comply with his name.

Aside from that small factor; I was going to give them a unique weapon, only equipable by Ballista. It renders you immobile(to simulate the heavy weaponry) and gives a range of 12(to simulate its fucking badass)

I cant think of another name other than Catapult =( which doesnt work well with arrow projectile animations. would anyone suggest anything different? and list a few ideas for the weapons.
Formula is WP * PA, starting at 6 WP

I decided a on separate topic. These are things not done yet.

Item Descriptions that tell what class can equip what. so far they are staying abreviatiosn for vanilla classes. if you go to the fitting room, you can see what equips what anyways. this is not a high priority

Tithin is halfway inserted...this is a high priority and will be in 0.07

Shadow Panther. sprite isnt even done yet, and neither is moveset.

Various descriptions of things. I may have skipped a few abilities or items by accident. if you see one, please tell me.

Job Descrptions and Skillset descriptions are not implemented.

Nevelska and Colliery sidequests are not implemented, neither are reis or beowulf or cloud. please refrain from doing these until i have a chance to mess with them. Id need to test them when i actually release them, so please dont do them so you can test them when they are finished.

Some New Accessories have odd side effects. this is most likely due to another item using that attribute, and i forgot to fix it. please inform me

Also inform me of any Enemies or Allies with the following classes/skillsets unlocked

Ninja
Lancer
Geomancer

There is no sprite portrait colors for the female Fear Monger

There are still hundreds of item changes to happen. and alot more move-find-item re-arrangements.

Some Monsters have not been fitted yet, these types are as follows;

Flotiball Family
Juravis Family
Uribo Family(tonberry sprite causes problems)
Woodman Family
Dragon Family
Hydra Family

I have plans for most of these, but lack sprite and moveset room. i plan to get at least half of these out of the way by 0.07

The battles in murond holy place that take place after you defeat rofel, have not been messed with yet. that means Altima is not fitted for SoR style fighting.

Several small sprite changes(ranging from color fixing nad small sprite byte types, to new portraits)

Text Edits For Items, Abilities, and names of most things. I have not changed the bit on items that shows who can equip what... to much of a pain to do atm(Since i have to change EVERY bit of that part). it will most likely be in next update.
Job Requirements are Included(although, not the job descriptions that go along with them, the new requirements are at the end)

Bows Now have a range of 6 and inflict a large number of statu
Crossbows are now using the gun formula and range.
Guns are evolved crossbows.
Spears are more powerful
Some items were made more powerful(aside from the things already changed).
Several New Effects Files.
Warlock - Needs balancing, but im going to keep it how it is for now...
Story Bosses revamped a bit.
New Icon for "Catalysts". The things that look like katana's now. They now look like a small orb with a bit of odd color in the middle(if you want, do better and ill accept it)
Painbreaker HP Modifier lowered by 10
Added LOTS of goodies through out story mode(explained later on)
Skip Sandwich is now the Eldritch(a higher version of the Warlock) you find in the queklin fight. This is untested, so if you have a save near there, please test it out when i release the patch. Queaklin was to easy before, now he might be to hard with a ??? "Anshin" next to him.
Many Move-Find-Item in random battles have been changed
Started the process of removing poles from the game, if you see one(other than the one used for samurai skills) please tell me what store and/or where

New Job Level Requirement Chart;
level 1 - 200 (start off with 200 jp now(or should))
level 2 - 400
level 3 - 650
level 4 - 800
level 5 - 1100
level 6 - 1400
level 7 - 1750
level 8 - 2500

This was to counteract enemy jobs that need alot of JP to function, such as Bloodmancer. Their abilities are high in JP cost, but all worthwhile, and lowering them would require lowering the jp to lower teir-type jp cost. and then id have to lower the rest of the abilities, because Bloodmancer abilities are higher teir than most low-costing JP abilities... Confusing, but the TL;DR is;

If i lower Bloodmancer JP costs, i lower everything else. and im not doing that.


Along with the above Changes, There are several actual job requirement changes.

There are some problems with his skills and effect files. he is reverted to the "just implemented" stage. he works, but is buggy and doesnt have fully edited effects. for some reason when i put in the Warlock Sprite, it messed up some of his effects, and skill values(as well as afew other things, but i remembered what they were and easily fixed them. Tithin i hadnt worked on in a long time nad forgot everything o.o)


Explinations-----
Goodies!!!
Throughout several battles in chapter 2+, you will find lots of hidden goodies. there are hte obvious ones, such as move-find-items. but there are some that will need explinations.

A good example is in Bervinia Free City, when you fight meliadoul in the town.

There are 2 Amplifiers on your team here. There is also a Rune Grapher at the very top who carries a Soul Flame. You can steal the soul flame from her, and then kill her to recieve an Extra Kaiser Plate. The problem being, one of the Amplifiers is equiped with a high-end throwing knife, and is gunning for Meliadoul. You have the choice of ending the battle as quickly as you can, or killing off the amplifier help, and try ridding that Rune Grapher of her Catalyst.

There are EVEN LESS obvious ones, such as random storyline enemies that drop rewards, or random enemies that will join you(one with 94 faith!). Sometimes a Random Regular knight will be there, and the next load a powerful wizard will be there, but both have a useful item, giving you a choice.

Shadow Panther: A Wispy and Evasive form of shadow, mostly seen in deserts and plains at nightfall. Few have made appearances to menace townspeople during daylight.

Shadow Panther is basically a dark-aligned cat, with a half-collar(as in it doesnt wrap all teh way around) and juts out into spikes.

Purpose of this post is to come up with at least 3 UNIQUE abilities(one for each variation), and the monster skill for this thing.

His pallete is not final(as of now i hate it). but the other 2 versions are more purple with red spikes, and the last variation is a bit green with blue spikes.

Skip, this is where you step up :)

Edit: I am taking suggestiosn on what to do with the tail... maybe ad a shuriken type wheel at the end? scythe? i dunno, something interesting please.

Quake: 2 Area 255v255, hits caster, doesnt hit allies, 99 MP, Earth Element, 15 CT, Y Value of 60
Accumulate: 20 MP a us

The bottom portion is the .SP2 file, since this guy wont be using anything uniquely to monster classes, that portion will be unused.

All i need is a portrait. im thinking of using the Mist Mage one (elementalist) and making a new one for it.

Now that ive got my new laptop(that can actually run an EMU without freezing) i can pick back up on work.

Bad news.

Got back from school today, and our door was wide open.
We are missing a 52 inch flat screen
2 Lap Tops
4000 Dollars in my moms Heirloom jewelry
a Mini Fridge
Various other odds and ends.

More importantly though

My 2000$ desktop was swiped. All thats left is the back leg that fell off of it.
Now im stuck with an age old laptop, incapable of running an EPSXE, and a rather outdated version of exodus(newer then the public, but old none the less)

Its gonna be quite awhile. and the project may hault entirely, as i cant even run an emu to ASM Hack.

This also means my other projects. unit.bin expansion, Formula Editor, and others will be put on hold, for a very long time.

If anyone has any news regarding the selling of a very high end computer, please, by all means post it here. Ill put a picture of it, and the missing leg when i get ahold of the camera that i used to take a picture of the camero, as well as the beer in my fridge. It has a picture of compy on it...

Hopefully, any activity in florida will be tracked in nearby pawn shops. but im not expecting it to stay in panama City, if anyone sees the computer somewhere like Miami, please let me know.(after i post the pictures of what it looks like)

RAWR!

Alright, i need some suggestions, and a public opinion on what should be done to some of the remaining items.

For the most part, the vanilla items dont coincid with SoR's Originality

So, i will list each new weapon, in its type, and present to you the ones that i will be replacing/changing greatly.

All knives behave as crossbows for purposes of firing. they do WP *SP damage, and have a range of 4
Knife - 4 WP
Kunai - 7 WP
Witch Dagger - 10 WP, Inflict Frog
Flow of Grace - Water,  13 WP
The Deserted - Fire, 16 WP
Thunder Striker - Lightning, 18 WP

Catalysts are a second option for mages. They dissallow attacking, but you gain HP, MP, MA, or SP, to make up for it. It allows mages to get some extra attacks in, before resulting to whacking enemies with sticks.
They currently do not have a graphic, and appear as katanas.

Guard - +10 Hp, +5 MP, Strengthen earth, Absorb Earth, Weak Wind
Sheild - +30 HP
Targe - +10 HP, +10 MP, Protect(Perma)
Soul Flame - +30 HP, +10 MP, Strengthen Fire, +1 MA
Alacrity - +2 Speed
Boost - +50 HP, +25 MP, +1 Speed
Divining Rod - +20 HP, +20 MP Speed +1, + 1 Move, Strengthen + Absorb Holy, Half Water

Bandages replace cloth. Being Painbreaker only, you are allowed to heal with a physical attack, rather then harm.
Bandage - 7WP
Wrap - 10 WP
Gauze - WP 15

Axes
-----------
Tomahawk - 16 WP, 40 Evade

Knight Swords
----------------
Vampire Fang - 16 WP, Absorb HP.
Skull Razor -  22 WP, +1 Speed
Unavoidable - 18 WP, 100% hit rate

To focus on a broad range right now; I need Poles, Spears, Rods, revamped into a new weapon type, or new weapons for old types. I would like more Dictionaries and Flails

hey, guys, awhile back i brought up a topic taht gave fruition to the game Der Langrisser on this forum. I played and beat both them, and thoroughly enjoyed a game; more than i have ever in 8 through 16 bits.

If anyone would like to post some of the games they enjoyed, or loved from that  systems age, then by all means, post the name, and a link to the screenshots from it, so that we can all LOOK FOR THE ROMS OURSELVES to enjoy the game.

Ill update this first post every few games posted so that no one has to search through pages just to find one game.

Beawulfx gets credit for me posting this thread

When i first started SoR, i really didnt think it would get far. AT ALL. i figured maybe a few people would take interest. and a few did. probably about 5. But there were appearntly enough people playing from the shadows that i got my forum nearly 9 months ago(though i had to do a forum wipe at one point). There have been rough spots. update halts. glitchy gameplay... This patch had it all, and at times i often felt like not enough people cared to play it. Due to 1.3 getting a forum section shortly before i did, And to this day there are tones of people who frequent the 1.3 forum, but dont know what Symbols of Rage is. But i kept muddling through, mainly thanks to Voldemort telling me to quit bitching and work harder.

After about 2 months, the first Alpha was released, and then my computer caught fire, and not enough interest was generated into the new direction.

For the Third time, i started nearly all the way over(from a point, i did have quite a bit done to revert to).

What you see on the forums this day, is the culmination of months of work. nearly 5!!! whole months have been shoved into me learning how to ASM and balance semi-properly(to my tastes. nothing is OP unless it needs to be, but alot needs to be). There have even been times in the past 5 months i wanted to quit. Beta Testers stop responding and started posting in 1.3 tons, and it made my patch feel less...up to par... So i worked harder.

Even when no one gave me praise or reassurance that this patch would be something incredible.

Occasionally though, i got a good compliment, even 1 or 2 from Asmo, and that gave me a bit of hope, in all angles.

Point is, I never thought so many people would enjoy it, or even post in the forums. no matter how long you kept posting, each compliment kept me full of inspiration, and i wanted to thank each and every one of you who have helped me realize what im doing is worth it to at least someone.

A special thanks goes to Prinygod, Boomkick, and Skip Sandwhich, for pre-alpha testing each patch, and continually giving me good ideas.

Boomkick, Priny, if your still out there lurking, i thank you humbly for the helpful criticism you have given me.

Lets talk suikoden

We all can agree, the series has gone down a HUGE hill ever since 2.

Suikoden 3 was a good game, and still kept the semblance of a good battle system. But the story was REALLY lacking, and they racked up half the game(all 28 hours of it) by letting you paly through each characters viewpoint of teh same story. Not TO bad, considering the overall plot was cool (and Yuber was kickass) but it was severly lacking. it was the first one in 3D.

I never played 4. I saw it and quickly lost interest in its diversion from the suikoden series, i saw my friend play it and it just didnt feel like the same game...at all.

5 was better than 4, but ill be damned if all the characters just seemed static or off balance to me. plus halfway through the game, you never had to use other people. You got 4 people that wer so over powered you didnt even need to cahnge another member. ever. In all suikodens, you can do that, but certain characters and runes help in certain situations more than others. you can struggle with the same party or you cna switch it a bit. in 5, you didnt struggle, ever.


The newest one, Suikoden Teirkris for the DS(comes out in the US Tommorow, but has ben in the EU for a month) Is ACTUALLY GOOD.

There are plenty of odds, like Runes are now called mark of the stars. but so far, each 108 stars of destiny(all 108 characters) all have different skills and attributes, instead of equipping and and detatching runes. It feels really odd without runes, but its not bad at all..

The second, and probably biggest deal, is the voice overs. they are AWFUL. Lui is the only one that talks at normal speed. Its like they put each sentence in a voice clip and put no downtime before queing the next one. (Lui is the exception)

So far, about 3 hours into it, its got a half decent sotryline to. you go out on a mission to exterminate some rabid, albeit gigantic, mice, and go look for their nest, run into a temple and find a book that gives you the mark of the stars. few other people that touch it gain the marks to, but everyone else doesnt feel a thing. Then someone from a parralel world comes in looking for a creature from her world that came in....its all slightly confusing unless you view yourself >.<

If needed ill say more, but even that early on its quite a few spoilers >.<

All in all the DS game is great, with a few qualms here and there. but for the most part, its along the lines of suikoden tactics. A GREAT Spinoff.

Well, the PLANNED change is to give all knives +1 move, and +1 speed...

There is a great reaso nbehind this; every other weapon in the game has an obvious reason to choose one or the other.

Early on, knives dont even do half the damage swords do. And when your a wizardish character, you would most likely choose a Focus Item over anything else for the extra MA/HP/MP(yay weapon slots)

the stat bonuses bring them up ot snuff, even later in the game, for obvious reasons... theres nothing bad to be gained from +1 move

All in all though, does this seem a bit drastic? or will this proceed to actually be useful, if slightly overpowered?

Well guys, its been awhile since i picked this project up...

But as you know, i am very good at starting a project and then not delivering for a good long while.

While im waiting for my teammate(DarthPaul) to finish his ENTD changes, i thought id mess wiht this some

See how its blanked out? also notice serpentarius in there. a sprite normally to big to fit into unit.bin without hitting some other units.

I found where the palletes are linked in unit.bin!, now to find the job links~

P.S. yes, this is the japanese iso, i was testing things with the EVTGroup program.

So last night Razele was helping me with capping off endurance at 50% less health. When he caught me on one of my missing arithmetik, which he had caught before an di appearntly refused to fix it, i asked him "How did that get deleted?"

At which point he said "GF Mods probably deleted it"
Which is true, they probably did.

Anyways, i got to thinkin, hes really cool, but i wonder if he looked anything like his avatar. i fell asleep at this point, and an image appeared in my head, it looked something like this.


Its a good thing we dont look anything like our Avatar's, or Voldemort would look something like this.

Looking back nearly a year ago, last may 08. i posted about my project. which quickly grew into SoR. i retain homage to the original by nameing the patch without a custom storyline, Exodus.

It quickly died and i had to restart. in essence, it was one of the failed projects dominic wouldve locked. the next one however, got what it deserved. and now i have my own forum section, and im loving it <3


What was your guyses first post here about? is there a story behind it?

Melonhead recently sent out a beta of his orgASM. it comes with all the ASM hacks form zodiac,razele, and nates, but it comes with teh ability to add your own as well.

My gift to you guys will be a SIMPLE formula editor.

X and Y are in every formula. values relating to what stats are loaded are represented by Q, X and Z.

this will help alot with simpler things like making MA * Y, into PA * Y
or changing rafa's formula(the one in teh screenshot) into PA + Y/2 * SP(hit X Times)

When melonhead releases his orgASM, ill release my .xml file with all the formulas and ill give instructions on what you need to put. (like to load PA in that spot, you need the number 36 in that value box)

The Lounge / MKV File --> AVI????

So ive been lookign around for a good way to burn my DVDs with my mkv files...but i cant seem to find a "FREE" program. the only onei found that doesnt do a half assed job is shareware :/... convert XDVD or something. you can make it play a whole dvds' worth of .mkv, but it has a HUGE water mark :/....

All the other ones... AVI-Mix GUI(it even says its default output is avi but resaves it as a larger .mkv) or virtualdubmod (cant even open the .mkv and all the VFW codecs i found arent compatable with it) cant seem to do it...at all... and the Dear Santa program matrosavi (damn i cant spell) put on their homepage is a dead link.

anyone have ANY clue on a good way to do this? you cant burn ,MKV to dvds, cause most dvd players can jsut barely play directx :/

Hacking/Patching Tools / Renaming Patcher Names

Hey All!!!

I finally got the chance to ask melonhead if he minded if i made this feature publicly known...as its been in the patcher for quite a freakin while...anyways

It allows you to rename your abilities and such through outside files.

Basically, take the attached resources.zip and put it in the same file as fftpatcher. DO NOT extract the files. the patcher reads them insdie the zip file.

It is basically an XML spread, so edit things like Cure to be known as PWN and it will apear as PWN on the list of abilities.

If you want to get the patcher to stop reading the edits but dont want to get rid of your changes, jsut copy the zip to a safe place and delete the one in the patcher folder. its that simple!

This useful for patches like SoR, where you make completly new abilities, but are constantly forgetting what is what... like i cant remember i made bolt 4 into 'Deluge' most of the time, until i used this. before i had to look in the old tactext editor xD

It seems the poll(althogh i deleted it when i meant to close it >.>) clearly showed the victory of option 2, who won by 6 votes with a total of 13.

The skillset is up for debate, but please keep it realistic and on the themes of the current skillset.

March of the Dead - Haste, 60%, all allied Undead
Steel Bones - Protect, 60%, All Allied Undead
Magical Fallacy - Reflect, 60%, All Allied Undead
The Undying - Regen, 60% All Allied Undead
Power Surge - Beserk, 100%, Ally Undead

Zombify - 155%(faith based), Undead, Enemy and Allies, human.

Dominate - 70% Charm, Enemy Undead
End Unlife - 60% Damage on Enemy Undead
Stone Soldiers - Petrify, 35%, All Enemy Undead
Stagnant Blood - 50% chance to inflict 'Wither' All Enemy Undead.

Bleeding the Dark - Moderate Dark damage with chance to inflict poison.
Death and Decay - High Dark Damage with chance to inflict Death Sentence.


I remind you all that Wither is a status that replaces oil, in favor of a status that prevents benificial status effects from hitting the target.
