Ah, that's right. You gave the Focus command to the other Black Mages as well, I can see what you mean about them looking like generic mages.

Palom & Porom: Well, their Twin command will be less useful at end game to be honest. With Palom having Flare, Bio, and Quake just to name a few and Porom have more useful white spells compare to when you get her near the beginning. I doubt people will pick it. You did the right choice by removing it, even if it was for technical reasons.

Baigan: Curious, does he share the same spell list as Kain? As for the Holy Ray, well your pretty much limited with what you have and you have to make the best of what you got unfortunately. Question of concern, does it work properly in battle? You see all laser hitting all monster and such, the reason I ask is because... well, its an enemy ability. I mean on large groups of enemies like the 3 Imps and Needler or the 8 Imps, etc.

I completely agree that Germonik plays the role of Judas in FFT story, but I don't understand how Germonik is associated with Elidibs. Further elaborate on this please, I'm really curious about it. Also, Jesus only had 12 disciples and Judas is number 12 from doing searches on google. The part in bold is something that I would like to see some sources on this claim because google didn't showed me anything.

Ah sorry LastingDawn, but I'm not speaking from inside the box (within FFT games), I'm looking from outside the box point-of-view. I've just re-read my post and never stated the Ramza and company are the Zodiac Brave's reincarnation, unless you took recreate as being reincarnate. But that is not what I meant, they "recreate" (what I meant was emulate the legend) them without them knowing. Ramza gets 12 {12 Ivalian Humans or 12 special characters or something else that comes up to 12} without them being aware of it, I guess it could be an easter egg left there by the developer(s). In the end, you emulate a story within a story.

As for the whole Altima/Ultima saying that Ramza's descendent slayed/killed her, I took this phrase that Ramza descended from Germonik. Ironic no? Germonik did it (killed or lead her to her death) for money, while Ramza did it for better reasons (no personal gain in killing Altima - no money - no title of hero, no fame, etc - only did it to get his sister back). In fact, he lost it all and became an heretic in the end. Germonik became richer and Ramza became poorer (material wise).

I like what Kaiyuu said and he said it best; "they're unsung heroes who's recognition goes to someone else". I couldn't of said it better myself.

The battle system of Eternal Sonata kick ass, even if the story is meh. it's still a good game. The PS3 version is harder than the xbox version, go for that one.

Or how about a ability called Hex (Whisper in ability list), but instead it inflicts 50% chance of inflicting Paralyze or Death (Blaster), or deals moderate non-elemental damage as well as Paralyze and Sap (Blast/Mind Blast), or 1/3 chance of Paralyze, Silence, or Curse (Slap).

Edit:

How about Vampire/Blood Suck/Bloodfeast? Minor non-elemental damage and drains HP from target. Also inflicts Sap. He is a monster after all.

I can't see nothing in the enemy ability list that would qualify for an Paladin ability.

The only ones that I can come up with would either be Beam, Laser, Laser Barrage, Maser or Heat Ray renamed into Holy Ray with White/Holy spell effect palette, that's pretty much it.

What are your limits for that skill? Insert spell effects, etc? For that Baigan's skill.

Something came to my mind.

War Cry/Glory - Increase Atk for all allies (similar to what protect and shell does), if this even possible for you?

Edit 2:

Pray/Bless/Healing/Enlight/Refresh - Cast Cure 2/Cura on all party members (similar to Rosa's Pray).
Heal/Medic/Panacea/Restore - Cast Heal/Esuna on all party members, removes all bad statuses from party (Dr. Lugae ability).
Remedy - Restores HP equal to 1/10 of max HP. single target (Defense Node ability).

Edit 3:

Just a tought that came to me while looking through the FFIV enemy ability list. For another of Edge Ninjutsu ability, I came across the enemy ability called Needles (Ninja used Blow Darts).

That's pretty much all I could come up with ideas Zozma, the rest is up to you.

Ah okay, I should of said that I was thinking at the time I wrote that post that it was 12 "Ivalian" heroes meaning human people.

But anyways, even with your way of thinking. It comes out to 12 in the end also.

The 12 Zodiac Braves... Now that I think about it, you actually recreate the Zodiac Brave legend in FFT. Here is what I've come up with. You have a roster of 16 people. You can knock out Boco, he's a monster. Worker 8, hell he's not even human so he's out. Byblos, same as Boco. Cloud, not even from this dimension so he's out. So, 16 - 4 = 12.

Malak
Cid
Meliadoul
Rad
Alicia
Lavian
Beowulf
Reis

I'm not counting Alma since she can't be recruited and doesn't travel with the other characters, she's also more associate with the Lucavi as an host for Altima/Ultima (somewhat of a host, but manages to break free later).

So here is some food for thought for you guys. A day has 24 hours, let's divide that by 2. You get 12 right.

The 12 Zodiac Braves are associated with the 12 hours of the day (Light/Good/Heroes/Saviors/etc).

The 12 Lucavis are associated with the 12 hours of the night (Darkness/Evil/Demons/Corruptors/etc).

I've made a personal patch for myself which takes the best of the three FFT (Japanese), FFT (US) and FFT WotL and merge them all into one. Many changes includes nearly all the WotL ability names (Fire, Fira, etc) except for a few (Cheep Up is now Encourage (Jpn version), where the hell did they get Steel from!? WTF?), equipment (Weapon, Armor, etc). Generic Quotes have been put back in, modified from the old English to FFT/Modern English. Blade Grasp to Shirahadori, Oracle to Onmyoshi just to name a few that I remember. All character names/Town names are PSX version.

I took a few liberties with a few names in particuliar. Ramza's Shout, I change the name to War Cry. There could be others, but I don't remember. Haven't touch it in months. Ah, remembered another one, Holy Sword to Seiken.

Balmafula now has a full skillset (for hacking purposes - she has a full working sprite, so why not), jobs like Duke, etc. They can now learn Counter Tackle, Equip Axes, Beastmaster, JP Boost and Move +1 (for hacking purposes), but they do not have any battle skills/abilities associated with them (possess no skillsets).

Midgard Swarm now has a summon animation on it and requires MP to use, Aegis and Dispelna (Holy Magic) are now spells (spell casting animation) and have quotes. Beowulf's quote are enable. There were some dummied out skillsets, they now have skillset names and description on them. Of course, you can only get and see them thru hacking/gamesharking them into the game.

I've run into a little obstacle along the way. I can extrant the script from the rom, but I can't insert it back in with the very same editor. The editor keeps giving me the same error over and over again. I've tried it even with an unmodified script along with an unmodified rom even and still got the same error. Since the editor is uncooporative with me, I simply just stop trying. So the progress has come to a stop unfortunately... :(

The remaning stuff that needs to be done: Revise and fix all errors in the PSX script (Engrish).

Specific scene and parts of story that I planned on changing: Changing all mention of Funeral's title from High Priest to Pope (Jpn version, his job is Pope - Makes sense if you think about it), change Holy Knight to Arc Knight (Delita and Goltana scene before the later is killed, Goltana says that Delita will become a Holy Knight after the events. But how can a Holy Knight become a Holy Knight?). Plus the fact, "King" Delita's job is Arc Knight after said event. Change Death Corp Priest to White Mage (Thief Fort scene).

Things that can be done easily by me with FFTactext, but haven't done it yet: Priest/Wizard to White Mage/Black Mage, High Priest to Pope. Correct Engrish on the World History part (Biography, Scene Recall, etc) - Treasure and Legendary Lands are finish (WofL version minus the old English). Description of items, abilities, jobs haven't been done. But I don't see anything wrong with the PSX version description, but would need to be revised for errors and stuff. Found a few errors like double spacing in a few and mispelled words here and there.

If I could get that damn editor to work, I would of shared it with you. And here I though I was the only one who prefer the PSX script.

But yeah, not much of a fan of the Old English in the WotL script.

I remember you saying that Tellah will have decent/better stats than his original conterpart, but will Tellah be getting all his spells? There were 5 spells he never got in the original game which are White/Holy, Life 2/Arise, Quake, Nuke/Flare and Fatal/Death? It'll be pretty pointless to chose Tellah at end game if he's missing these useful spells over another Black Mage who got/gets them.

Thanks for your input LastingDawn. Sorry, but the names all came from either my memory, my imagination, confirmation from the dictionary, help from google for the status effect (things related - names - to specific status effect) as well as a online synonym dictionary. Here is the non-FF definition of tailwind if you are not already aware of it. No FFT intended when suggesting Tailwind as I knew that word and what the meaning was way before FFT coined the name.

Definition: A tailwind is a wind that blows in the direction of travel of an object. A tailwind increases the object's speed and reduces the time required to reach its destination (wikipedia). Could put other sources, but too lazy to do it.

Tailwind is quite the opposite of Spider Web (name provided by Zozma) as we all know that its purpose is to slow down/entangle its prey. Might as well rename Spider Wed to Slowga to fit with Hastega, would look better from a cosmetic point of view.

As for the item character limit, I though it was 10 + 1 (if you remove the item icon - most have blank space anyway) = 11 in total. Thanks for correcting me on that part.

I'm confused here Zozma and clarification would be appreciated. Did you say that you wanted to make pseudo "blue magic" through the items has oppose to the generic item spell effects and the names they possess or have I read your post(s) entirely wrong? Or did you change your mind in the end and you decided to go along with the original FFIV names and spell effects?

LastingDawn, speaking, but more like mentioning FFT. Did you know that everyones favorite knight, Agrias will make a cameo appearance in FFIV. I hope Zozma hasn't change his mind about puting her in. I'm looking forward to seeing her. :D Hmm, I wonder where she'll be place to appear, maybe in Troia.

Hmm... How about you keep Baigan having a Light elemental sword that causes instant death instead. Except for Swoon (change Swoon to Death or KO lol its much better), and make it say Purified/Repose for the light version of the sword if possible.

As for the sword's name, call it Purifier/Cleanse/Harbinger/God's Wrath or something.

Okay, so the doom arrows are basically "death arrows", but could you actually make the name(s) reflect this. Because its kind of confusing and misleading, so that is why I asked. One thing I did not like was some of the names in older games such as White instead of Holy, etc. Well, its just my personal preference.

While I am on the subject, the names of spells/equipments/weapons/items/etc. Are you reverting them back to the original FFIV counterpart? Example; Nuke to Flare, White to Holy, Fatal to Death, etc, just to name a few. I know there is limitation in characters...

Hey, you are on to something there with the items. :) But before I proceed, and I'm asking you since you know alot more than I do when it comes to hacking FFIV. Is there a way to give an item two elemental properties? If you don't understand what I mean, think about Merton/Meltdown from FFVI. The spell dealt Fire and Wind elemental damage. Now, lets take your "Black Ice" for example, can you make it deal Ice and Dark elemental damage? You know, a dual elemental damaging item.

Very nice looking Zozma, this will feel like a whole new different game compare to the original, but will still have the FFIV feel to it. I'm loving the new Dark Knight sword's design and Harley's sprite.

By the way, when you said Doom Arrows. Do you mean it inflicts instant death/KO or inflict Doom/Death Sentence/Condemned status?

About Porom's Cry ability, will it stay the same as the original FFIV where it makes it easier for the party to flee from battle. Or the DS version where it instead lowers all enemies defense by half. Or will it attempts to inflict Confusion on all foes (Complete Collection version).

Off topic, it kind of sucks that Harley wasn't that useful in TAY compare to all the other characters available. If she had the Blue Magic command, she would of been more useful. There also was an command in TAY called "Omni" which attack all enemies, but it was dummied out. I wonder which character they had in mind for that ability. If I recall correctly, Luca says she's not a fan of dwarven clothes/custom or something along those lines.
