Of course you're not in there, Voldemort.

Neither is Kanbabrif, BP, BIH or Chaumel.

They're fucking villains, dude.

They don't give a shit about Jerry's Kids.

Voldemort you give a small child, especially the cute ones, muscular dystrophy every time you look at a picture of a naked woman.

Some say that Kanbabrif creates a new case of muscular dystrophy every time he kills someone. Obviously this is why he is the great evil leader, because he causes so many more cases of MD than Voldemort.

If the Jonas Brothers count as cute kids, then please Arch look at naked woman pics.

Skye Cyberblade, Rofokare, Lasting Dawn and ph33rbot added to the shamrock wall today.

I've run out of characters from Parts I and II, so now I'm putting FFH names up.
Title:
Post by: LastingDawn on March 01, 2009, 02:33:12 am
Rofokare isn't a member last I checked... but she is in Mercenaries! Not to mention Rofokare was the beta name they had in mind for the pisces water demon, eerie really, that you would choose that, since many believe Rofokare to be a mistranslation of Rophocole (as he appears in the 12 lucavi circle in the intro)  In legend Folocare (sound familiar?) or an annagramed Lucifer, or something like that, I know Rofokare has some interesting mythological connection though.
Title:
Post by: Bastard Poetry on March 01, 2009, 02:34:43 am
The purple hooded sprite you created is in Part II, and we didn't know what to name her, so we just called her Rofokare.

Was I really added to the wall as ph33rbot?

That would be funny.
Title:
Post by: Bastard Poetry on March 02, 2009, 01:03:01 am
Yeah, it reads "d.arthpaul the ph33rbot"

Seven more names added today!

Part of the reason I'm so motivated by this shamrock thing is because of the following:

Our regional manager is a real no nonsense, stick-in-the-ass sort of business man. When he saw the first 8 Chronicles characters, he told the manager that he wanted REAL names on these shamrocks, and asked her to tell us (the employees) that this isn't a game for our own amusement. When she related this to me, I told her about Dukki Boi's (soon to be) contribution, and said, "So you can tell him that these are REAL people and they freakin' ROCK!" She thought it was funny.

So now I'm out of CoK characters and I have moved on to just adding various forum names. More will come, but it depends entirely on the customers and employees that buy them and tell me to put whatever name I want (which only happens every once in awhile.. Most put their own names down, obviously). On this wall, I've contributed $15 worth, including the gold with my own name.

Updated shamrock walls:

loolz

Piercewise also suggested sending me money to donate in his name. Perhaps I could set up a paypal account or something, if enough people are interested and trust me to donate, rather than pocket it.

I'm certainly honorable in that regard, as I care deeply about this particular fundraiser and, above all else, I want to show that dickhead regional manager a thing or two. Teh interwebz, FTW!

SB, what kind of countdown increments? LMAO.

Seriously though, the numbers are NYC Subway icons for each route. I wanted to make a new avatar, but the combined forces of "college" and "procrastination" mean that I haven't done a damn thing to start on it yet. So until then, I was using different routes as my avatar (usually routes that hadn't pissed me off recently).

I decided last week sometime to start from the 1 train and just go through all of them in order, switching every few days. Keep an eye out for a special 6 in the next few days.

she's a very good friend of mine who's long battle with cancer just took a turn for the worst and it no longer looks like she's going to make it or just establish a paypal and I'll send the money myself
Title:

That's really sad to hear. I do know of her, from her posts on youtube and such and the dedication vids you made for her when she went to the hospital. Be sure to give her my best.

Well, I am definitely opening up my old paypal account. I didn't actually intend to make the Spam board a place for raising money for a fundraiser, but Piercewise has offered to completely match the donations that I have made, so it's on now. I'm not sure how to go about moving this topic to General and replacing "CoK" with "FFH" in the title, since it's looking more and more like a community thing.

In the first week, our store only made about $60. There are 4 weeks left, and the goal is to raise $800 in order to send one kid to a camp for treatment. People in this town are either extremely cold (lots of college kids who think Jerry's Kids are "retards"), extremely worried about their own money in this economy (which is fair, but I've managed to deal, by merely tacking on another $1 green every time I buy cigarettes) or extremely addicted to scratch tickets.

This really means a lot to me, thanks Voldemort!

Oh, and I'll have the paypal thing set up later tonight. I have to go to work for a few hours right now, so I won't have time to hunt down the old password/guess which email I set it with/answer security questions/etc until I get home.

I bought 146 clovers last year when we(my friends and I) where trying to out do each other.

I lost to my friend Neo who bought 573.

I think he clinched his win with that number.
Title:
Post by: Bastard Poetry on March 03, 2009, 02:42:46 pm
A few years ago, when I was the Asst. Mgr. of another gas station, we raised about $1550 due to our competitive spirits. Of that, I'd say a good 500 or so were mine, but that was just good selling tactics--little things like guilt trips and death threats. I'm working that angle again now, but it's tougher in this economy. Also, it turns out, the fundraiser ends on the 18th, so we only have 3 weeks left.

Competition is a powerful motivator. I think that's cool as fuck that you guys DONATED with that idea, because I sure as hell couldn't afford to match what you contributed last year, ph33rbot.

After that job, I worked for a couple of years at a much, much better job, making $15 an hour, and I was in a better position to donate. However, most of that money ended up paying for the 6 months we lived in Ireland, so alas, I forgot to donate to anything. Well, that's not true. I did donate my '96 Cadillac DeVille Concours to charity, but that was because the damned head gasket a'sploded. Kind of a lame donation, really; a pretty car that doesn't work. But I'm sure some sick kid out there will love pretending to drive it.

Her name was Madame Renee Pelagie de Montreille de Sade. I fucking miss her.

I'm just typing out loud, now. Those car threads had me thinking about her.

Today is an incredibly busy day for me. I shouldn't even be here right now, because I have a full load of classes today, and this little break I have right now is supposed to be devoted to catching up on work for the next class. After that, I have an 8 hour shift, and will likely hit the sack early tonight in order to catch up on sleep. Oh, and holy shit, I should play with m'CoK too, at some point. So it may take a bit for me to get that paypal set up, but I will get it done soon.

BP, the only reason I could afford to donate that much is because I was in high school.

I worked there for 2 years and each year donated at least a weeks pay to Jerry's Kids.

The first year because I was nice, and the second year was because Neo started working there and decided to make a competition of it.

Plus it is fun to come up with over 150 funny names to put on them instead of working.

ph33rbot, you're awesome.

Update: Added Shotgunnova, billygoten and Alakran (aka Tiger the Cat).

Basically, any time a customer leaves their change behind (which accumulates) or anytime they buy one and say "go ahead and write whatever name you want," I add more. Also, any time one of my coworkers buy one, they often give them to the FFH wall.

I may have to start moving them to a bigger wall soon.

Okay. God damn it.

Paypal has apparently BANISHED ME or some shit. None of my email accounts receive their "lost password" email. None of my passwords work. None of my phone numbers or addresses work for verification. My attempt to start a new account ended with "This bank account information you have entered is already used by another customer (ME MOTHERFUCKERS!!)"

So.

We're going to use my wife's paypal account. She said it's alright, and she'll transfer whatever monies you donate over to our mutual savings, where I can transfer it to my checking account and, effectively, buy some fuckin' shamrocks in your honor!

Send me a PM if you would like to donate, and I will give you the directions. (I'm hesitant to post my wife's email address publicly, you understand).

EDIT: I'll go ahead and email Piercewise, Voldemort and Cheetah now, because all three of you have expressed an interest in donating.

I don't know if they'll accept super strength sperm that has been genetically enhanced by all the white tea you've been drinking, they might drill through the fallopian tubes after mistaking it for an ova.

Update: Added gojoe, superjupi, Celdia and DaftOtter.

looolz @ white tea-strengthened fallopian-blasting spermz

My wife absolutely adores Celestial Seasoning's White Tea w/ Peach, but the god damned things were pulled from the shelves of every grocery store around here recently. We can't tell if the company quit making it or if this city just wanted to find another way to fuck us over, since apparently the theft of our computers and the constant string of bad luck since we moved here hasn't been enough.

Also, no worries if you can't donate. I just do this for the damned good times and such.

It's looking like there's no way we're going to hit our goal by the 18th anyways.

I did the math, and we'd have to sell $40-50 a day (~$25 per shift), and I sell an average of $25-30 every day. Each of the two shifts has two employees working, so that means each person only needs to raise about 12-15, which is incredibly easy to do, and whomever works with me doesn't have to try too hard at all, because I make more than enough for both of us.

The problem, however, is that I'm the ONLY one doing it. The other employees have raised about $10 each, since we began, and my friend has raised about $30. I've raised the other $220 or so. (We just hit the 300 mark tonight, but the goal is 800).

The thing is: there's no real incentive for us. The company's too stingy to offer raises or bonuses. The reward they DO have lined up is fucking pathetic: For every $50 an employee raises, his or her name will be entered into a DRAWING for a 2gig Ipod Nano, and said drawing includes the employees of all 50 locations or whatever.

Wooboy. Ipod Nano. 2gig.

So there aren't very many people that care, as a result. Plus, asking people in this economy to donate money can be an extremely depressing endeavor, because only 1/20 people are willing to do so. The 19/20 say no, no, no, no, no thanks, no I'm fine, no, no, I need the money more than they do, no, no, I hate kids, no, tell those little bastards to get a job, no, no, fuckin' retard kids, no, etc.

Hence the reason I'm often a bucket of sunshine by the time I log onto FFH at the end of the night..

Shamrock sales have slowed considerably. Between the new cigarette tax hike and the fact that so many people have "already donated a dollar," people are much less interested in donating.

I picked up the sales a little bit today. I tried changing my up sell tactic, instead of sticking to the boring: "Would you like to buy a shamrock to help the kids?"

I tried a few new lines:

"Would you like to donate a dollar to help ANNIHILATE muscular dystrophy!?"

"Hey, wanna donate to MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY SHAMROCK THING? It's only a dollar, c'mon, do it, Jerry's Kids will come over to your house and give you a high five, it's totally sweet."

"Hey. Buy one of these shamrocks. Jerry's kids will give you a high five or EVEN BETTER, Jerry himself might give you a high five!! If he has time, that is. He's a busy man, he's got, like, a few thousand kids. Buy a shamrock."

"Tell you what, I'll make you a deal. If you buy a shamrock, my coworker will totally make out with you."

"Care to donate a dollar to help feed the master his shamrocks? HE NEEDS MOAR SHAMROCKS!!"

"Psst. You wanna help save some kids? Give me your money."

"Buy a shamrock, or I'll fucking kill you."

Each line has varying levels of success, depending on the customer.

As of closing last night, we were at $521, $380 of which were raised by me. That's 74%, if my math is right. I like to think I fucking rock.

The FFH wall officially makes up $107 total. I will keep all of them when we take them down, in order to take final pics.
Title:
Post by: Bastard Poetry on March 25, 2009, 04:34:25 pm
I kept all of them, but I still haven't taken final pics.

The problem is motivation. I have this huge stack of shamrocks, I have an empty wall that I could tape them to in order to take some pretty photographs, but I can't seem to work up the motivation to find the tape.

Oh well.

All in all, it was a pretty good run this year. Nowhere near as much money raised compared to the last time I sold these things, but the economy was in better condition back then. This time around, I had more fun with it thanks to the online social network thing.

Thanks for all of the support, guys! Some people donated through me, some people donated in their own areas, some people checked the lint in their pockets and, having nothing to donate, cheered us on.. However you expressed your support, I'm grateful for it.
