Well I can confidently say that if you wanted to add those arms to him that it would definitely make it into the Chronicles.

Oh pitiful shadow lost in the darkness, bringing torment and pain to others. Oh damned soul wallowing in your sin, perhaps...it is time to die

Sprite editing is ridiculous.

Are there any general tips/procedures on doing this, or is this just a trial and error sort of thing?
And how would changing generic job sprites affect the palettes for their enemy counterparts?

I'm so lost (as usual).

If you use the same palette for the generic when editing it, then all the alternate palettes should look fine too.

a tip? ill give one.... use arms that already exist from another sprite!
i cant even begin to tell you how much of a pain in the ass it is to go from one part to another drawing extra stuff on and THEN test with trial and error making sure they connect properly...

Since my first sprite attempt failed epicly I'm going to try something else to develop my newb skills. I'm gonna start with the Organization 13, of couse using Meliadoul. Doing a "with hood" sprite just requires some recoloring but the real task would be the individual character without their hoods, especially Roxas who is shorter. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction and I'll post what I have when I get to it.

I figured id post what ive been working on...

The banshee isnt 100% original, ill admit. though, the spritesheet i found of it was the only one appearntly in existance, and it was horribly mangeled. often with half a body missing. it took alot of work to even get half of this symytrical..

The others are from a full spritesheet, but teh game was not listed for the wraith. if anyone knows please tell me.

The tree thing is from Disgeae. ill repost them when i am finished...

Here's my simple recolor just to show that I'm actually working on it.

Now I just need to figure out how to take a part from one sprite and replace it on another. Yes this is officially my first sprite so any help on this would be nice.

just change the color palette of the other sprite's part to match so that you dont have any color palette issues

Lets say I want to use another sprites head to start making Axel (probably won't start with him though.) and maybe I'll use... Clouds head, having gotten the mental part down how would I actually replace the head?

It's a lot more work than it sounds, as not all sprites stand the same (or maybe I'm thinking of another game). I would cut cloud's head out from his sprite sheet and guess-workingly place it on the new sprite. Biggest problem is the Palette, which you'll have to stay with 18 colors, and if you are using colors not on the sheet you're replacing, you'll have to change the color palette, as Zozma said :P

Its simpleest in my opinon to use photoshop

Id take the color pallete from your current sprite and paste it ove cloud, and then import his head

Problem with this is that if you paste the pallete over cloud, the color placement in the pallete will be weird...like if you had a red color where his yellow color is, his hair will be red...

I came up with some methods to fix it with just two clicks (thank god for photoshop script plugins)
If your using CS3, or photoshop at all, i will more than gladly post what i can to help ya.

Nice projects sentinel. The sprite from Disgaea actually suits the game pretty well
