It would probably be simpler to either try GameFAQs or use LionEditor.
If you have CFW, you can accomplish the same thing with FFTPatcher.

Or FFTastic, if you want to edit a save you find on GameFAQs. Google "FFTastic" and it'll be one of the first links you find.

I would recommend gamefaqs as well. If it's for the psp version they have an entire thread devoted to save editing.
